Few know that the municipality of Milan has the highest density of agricultural land within the municipal perimeter. Here (southern area of Milan) however, it is mostly a vast green lung left as a spontaneous clearing alternating with cultivated fields, with a careful planting of tall trees (umbrella poplars, cypress poplars, lime trees, locust trees, etc.) at different times. of avenue. In this period of early summer, nature is at the height of its splendor. The large wooded and cultivated area is also called the "Valley of the Monks" due to the interconnected abbey system of the Cistercians which here has its greatest expression in the Chiaravalle Abbey (which can be glimpsed from a distance). Cistercian abbeys were the equivalent of today's modern "research and development centers" in the Middle Ages. The meadows are famous, which abound here, i.e. fields fed by hot spring water (fountains) which guaranteed green meadows even in winter and therefore fresh grass which, we remember, was the "fuel" of the means of transport and work (the beasts) of the time. Here is the Nosedo purifier and its lake (return water pond). All around are the typical Lombard farmhouses: some date back to the 19th century.

A natural paradise, a stone's throw from the city, just follow the cycle path that starts from Corso Lodi and goes towards the Chiaravalle Abbey, and you enter the park, you can do it either by bike or on foot. Then there is also a fitness trail with 15 stations. Here you can admire gray herons, ducks and mallards, listen to the chirping of various birds in spring and see a variety of colors during the various months of the year.

Very nice well-kept park, for walking, running, cycling or sunbathing. Too bad there is no lighting and a marked running route!

A resting place, where there are benches and the shade of trees. Where to listen to the concert of frogs, birds, and calm.

A green space saved from neglect. Walk in Milan, thinking of being elsewhere, nature is the master in every season. If you come to this place, respect it, it belongs to everyone and it is precious.

The Vettabbia park is an agricultural/educational park with landscape constraints dictated by the presence of the Chiaravalle Abbey. However, now that these constraints prevent us from having: water to drink, benches (besides the few that already exist), toilets including chemical ones, alarm system, it seems absolutely absurd to me. Furthermore, the playground in via Sant'Arialdo included in the project and in the maps (now faded) but never completed, perhaps for fear of vandals? End of funds? Who knows: one of the many mysteries of Chiaravalle!

Lower Po Valley style park with large green areas where, on spring and summer days, you can have a picnic with friends. Very popular with runners and those who bring their dog to run free (even if you couldn't 😕).

In via San Dionigi, after piazza Corvetto (southern suburbs) and after viale Omero, following the Church of Santa Rita, after 500 meters you find yourself in the most fascinating, magical, fantastic South Vettabbia Agricultural Park. Those arriving can decide to enter immediately after the first roundabout, San Dionigi precisely, or from via San Airaldo, the second roundabout, in front of the famous ancient and historic El Laghett restaurant, and in any case, suddenly you understand that you are, as if by magic, in an ancient medieval village, with ancient farmhouses. If you go in spring, early May, you can photograph the sunsets with lights, which are not very scenic. If you go in autumn and winter, it is still suggestive, because it seems like you are in a theatrical setting. In spring I recommend them if you want to take a photo shoot behind the fiery red poppies. Go there....Are you still there??? Ale.
