It's an interesting model: staff-free, zero-contact hotel. Unfortunately, I found it a little depressing. I didn't know about the cafe, but maybe it was closed during my stay. While the room was adequate, the walls are paper-thin and my room had zero view and didn't have a desk or lounge chair (just a bed.) So, I never wanted to be in my room and I had nowhere to hang out in the hotel. The location is great - near the lake and right downtown.

This is a beautiful boutique hotel! It is extremely clean, well maintained and tastefully decorated. I like that that the historical aspects are preserved but have a modern flair. The staff are friendly, approachable and knowledgeable about the building’s history. The check in process was easy and contact free. The hotel is close to many popular sites - I even enjoyed a walk exploring the neighborhood and a path to Lake Michigan! If you are looking for a unique experience, this place is for you!

The location is fantastic and perfect for enjoying Milwaukee. The best thing about this hotel is the coffee shop. Anthony is great. He listens and tries to provide coffee that the clients like. He succeeded with me. The hotel provides no services for which we were somehow unprepared. Carrying our luggage up 2 narrow flights of stairs was a pain, but of course we did it. The room was fine. They should offer free parking and they should warn their guests that if they park on the street overnight they will get a ticket. If Anthony is there I would stay there again.

Nice location, cool building, but some things left to be desired. One of our two rooms was directly above the bar and it was very loud at night. Large gap under the door meant we heard everyone coming and going. When I asked to see if we could move rooms, the hotel would have charged a $45 relocation/cleaning fee, so we stuffed coats under the door gap and that helped. My mother's room on a separate floor had hair in the sink drain when we checked in. No daily housekeeping, felt like luxury pricing but a la carte experience.

Our stay at the Dubbel Dutch was very memorable. The staff was great. Perfect location, and mix of historic and modern. Loved it!

We loved our experience at the Dubbel Dutch. It's in a great location in the city. It's hard to rate the service. You are sent a code for the room and instructions for parking. Our room was beautiful, clean and well stocked. We would love to stay again. Milwaukee is an amazing city.

Loved our stay at the Dubbel Dutch! The location was great, check in/out process was super simple, and the rooms were lovely and extremely comfortable. Will definitely stay again and will recommend Dubbel Dutch to any friends looking for a place to stay in MKE.

Dubbel Dutch is in great location within walking distance of the Art Museum, lakefront and places to eat or have a coffee or drink. I loved the building's high ceilings and its unique charm, and that it wasn't a hustling bustling kind of place. It was very clean with quality finishes and furnishings. It was also nice and quiet, except for the creaky stairs but thanks to little traffic, that was more comical than annoying. This is a very good value compared to other hotel and airbnb options I looked at. I would definitely stay here again.

We came into town as a Octoberfest weekend getaway. The location was perfect, central to everything we wanted to do. The room was fantastic, large and clean!

Booked a one night stay for my wife and friend, but they spent a good deal of the night waiting outside their room because their keypad didn’t work. Eventually we got a response and someone came by to help after a significant period of time, but staff was dismissive during and after the situation. My emails to management following the stay were ignored, and it’s been just short of a month. Beautiful hotel, poor follow-up.

I hate when I use the term "hidden gem" because with the advent of the internet nothing is truly hidden - but this place is special and I feel it doesn't get the attention it deserves. It is a quiet oasis in the city - within walking distance of many nice restaurants and watering holes. Bed was very comfortable. Room spacious. Feels like a B&B without actually being one. Will definitely be coming back for another quick "staycation".

Such a beautiful hotel with so many unexpected touches. It is very clear that someone put a lot of thought and love into the space. Loved the local bath products and even a lavender bath bomb! Had a little snafu at check in but partially my fault for being directionally challenged. Meghan responded promptly and went above and beyond to make it right. The location is in a great spot near Lake Michigan so if you enjoy scenic walks this is your place. I didn’t realize that there is a coffee shop right downstairs until I was on my way out today so no Starbucks tomorrow! Very clean room. Very clean shared spaces. I will be returning for my future trips to Milwaukee! This would be an amazing place to rent out for a wedding or any type of event. It is a perfect mix of modern and classic.

Weekend stay-cation and the first time at the Dubbel Dutch. Everything from the check in to the room to the quiet to the cleanliness was excellent. Stayed during Milwaukee Hotel Month so the cost of a king room for $150 on a weekend was touch to pass up. I would certainly stay here again as the location was nice and the room and atmosphere of the place was very unique.

5/5 Stars I recently celebrated my birthday with a stay at the Dubbel Dutch and absolutely loved it. Meghan and her team were very helpful and went above and beyond to ensure that our stay was memorable and special. The hotel itself is in a great location being within walking distance to the lake and a short Uber to other popular attractions that downtown Milwaukee has to offer. Our room (the Classic King) was warm, inviting, comfortable and clean. I love how they have combined the historic architecture with a touch of moden flair. The coffee shop/cocktail lounge was an unexpected bonus. I will definitely be back and highly recommend staying.

A very spartan experience in a staff-free renovated old house. The rooms are spare: no amenities, not even a cup for water in the bathroom, no furniture in the bedroom, no dresser or decent bedside lamp, or comfy chair or coffee maker. On top of the premium room prices is a hidden $45 room cleaning fee that is only revealed when you check out online.

My husband and I stayed here for our anniversary in the Talossa room. We would highly recommend this to anyone. The room was gorgeous, as was the entire building. The location is superb - walking distance anything you'd need or want to see! Don't sleep on this gem.

Perfect blend of personal touch from an Airbnb type of rental and the convenience / service from a conventional hotel. Building has great character while also including nice modern touches where it's important. Staff was very friendly and helpful. If you travel with heavy luggage or have limited mobility I would recommend requesting a room on a lower level as the stairs are your only option. Hope to stay here again next time we are in town.

We had an amazing stay here this week. The contactless check-in and code system worked nicely and was very well explained. Spacious and clean rooms with AC was a treat. 2 minuite walk from the lakefront, art museum and first class breakfast! (The Plaza) Would highly recommend if you're looking for a quaint, relaxing, and low key stay in MKE.

We loved everything about this place. From our amazing room that was very clean to being able to walk around the whole place and explore. It was Halloween weekend so we did a bit of ghost hunting. Enjoyed hanging out in the bar area with our own drinks(bar wasn't open when we where there). Fun staying in a piece of Milwaukee history. Thanks Dubbel Dutch. Def will stay again.
