This was a mostly good experience. We showed up in prime dinner time, but they had lots of space, so we were seated immediately. They do have some cute outdoor seating, but we were inside. The inside of the place seemed clean and well decorated. They started us off with some of their bacon popcorn; it was fantastic. We ordered their fried cheese curds as an appetizer, and I really enjoyed those. The members of my small group all ordered different burgers and sandwiches and we were all really happy with our food. The only problem I really had was probably related to staffing issues. Our server was covering so many tables that she didn't even have time to check in on us so it took a long time to order our food, and then it took way, way too long for our food to come out. I think we were there for nearly 2 hours in total (a Friday night from 7ish to 9ish). This place may have received a rare 5th star from me if I had not spent so much time sitting there with nothing to do and no food to eat.

I had a good dinner at Oak Barrel. I ate a special they served called the whisky bacon pasta grilled chicken, which included mac n’cheese, grilled chicken, onions, mushrooms, and a special sauce. It tasted very good. I also ordered the Buffalo chicken salad, which was very generous with the amount of chicken. I also loved that. Everything was enjoyable at this restaurant from the food, service, staff, and atmosphere. I’d recommend dining here.

I got the beef and cheese burger, and goodness was it delicious. The fries are also equally delicious! Highly recommend grabbing some food from here. Didn't expect the drinks to be so delicious as well!

We stopped by Oak Barrel for a quick bit to eat on the way back to our hotel. We didn’t have reservations but there were seats at the bar. We enjoyed the pizza with bacon strips and the Southwest Buffalo salad. The salad was very spicy but sooo good! The staff was friendly and the service was great! Our food came out fast!

This was my second taste of Milwakee and Wisconsin in general. The service was fast and attentive. The food was made very fast too and was delicious. We were given bacon Fat popcorn upon sitting amd oh my were they good! Didn't expect that. We ordered curds and were delicious and cheesy and different from my first taste in another place. These had a more cheese than breading wich was great! I always thought they were basically mozzarella balls but I was wrong. I loved it. Our waitress recommended the Pulled bacon grlled cheese sandwich and a strawberry mixed drink with were amazing! We stayed in the Hyatt down the street and walked here. I recommend to do so as well if you are staying around since parking is very limited and or expensive in the area. Local garages charge up to 28 dollars a day from what I saw.

Oak Barrel Public House offers a good overall brew pub experience. I was very satisfied with my burger and the fries were outstanding! The service was below average as we were seated at a dirty table and needed to ask to have it wiped off after we were served drinks. A guest at the table ordered a Red Bull and I noticed the server checking her phone multiple times with him receiving said Red Bull around ten minutes later. The food Quality/Value ratio is slightly above average for downtown Milwaukee. 4.0 (5.0)

Had a great brunch at Oak Barrel. Started with cheese curds and bottomless mimosas. I then moved onto the main course of French toast, sausage, and a side of breakfast potatoes. Everything was great, and would visit again.

Pretzels and mac n cheese are delicious. And our bartender (I believe his name was Taylor?) was the best part. Despite being out of a bunch of things (incl Cheese curds??? How insane!), he kept a great attitude and was wonderful to everyone. 10/10 would go back just to hang with him. (Oh, and there's a White Claw claw machine)

This is a nice little whiskey bar. Not busy at all on a weekday afternoon. Friendly staff and good food. I got the cheese curds and they were fantastic. The whiskey batter they had on them was just great. I tried a few local beers that were really good too. If I live here I’d probably visit regularly.

Every time I have been in Oak Barrel the staff has been amazing. Especially at time when we here so many places are lacking in this area. The bartenders and servers couldn't be more kind and attentive. And if you want Wisconsin comfort food and cocktails this is the place to go. We recently hosted a 65+ person welcome party/rehearsal dinner at Oak Barrel and every guest raved about the team, the space and the food. The night exceeded our expectations and that is in BIG part to Mackenzie Beesley (sales and marketing manager). Mackenzie made the planning process so easy and ensured the event went off without a hitch. We will be forever grateful for her and the team helping us kick off our wedding weekend in style and family fun. I can assure you, we will back be, especially before Bucks games!

Went here as a group of 6, got seated immediately, all staff and service members were delightful and friendly. We had the pretzel sticks as an appetizer, those were super delicious. Then we had their creamy loaded potato soup, that was out of this world good. But unfortunately the entrees fell very short, overcooked burgers, cold fries and cold kettle chips. Coleslaw was bland and tasted almost spoiled. The kitchen also messed up our order pretty bad but our waitress gave us drink vouchers to make up for it. We had a few of the Temptation drinks, those were also amazing. Would go back for apps, drinks and atmosphere, nothing else

I made a reservation and they let me sit myself. There were so many dirty tables and they were only 3 tables per server. I waited for around 20 minutes for someone to take my order and the host finally came to the rescue. The burger was really good but the cheese curds and the dessert were horrendous. I ended up getting everything to go since I waited an hour just to get the food and I only had a day to explore the city.

My husband and I came here in 2021 for our honeymoon and we STILL rave about what a wonderfully delicious experience we had. I dream about the bacon fat popcorn.

Large selection of craft beers. Also serve wine and non-alcoholic beverages. Large interior with a really great Pizza Brothers Pizza restaurant. Very large outside patio with fire pits on cool days/nights. We visited on Labor Day Weekend, had bands all day outside. Lots of seats but they draws big crowds. Always very clean and dog friendly on the patio. Also children friendly with a large sandbox with toys. See lots of family here. A really good time.

We're big fans of Oak Barrel in general, but we were really impressed on our recent visit. The staff are incredibly sweet and did an amazing job to get our order to us quickly and correctly despite staffing issues from the holidays. The drinks were fun and festive and the meals were tasty as always.

I found the food to be average. Nothing was awful, but nothing was striking either. The ambiance was fine and they did have bar height baby seats, which is very helpful for having young kids in tow. Our waitress was kind and visited often. Sadly, I felt like our waitress missed needs of patrons that were sitting furthest from the walkway.

Visited during Downtown dining week. Appetizer cheese curds were sooo good & a nice sized portion suitable for sharing. The appetizer chips were crispy & the dip was delish. Had the Caprese smash burger which was tasty although I like my burgers medium β€” it was well done as it’s a smash! Service was great. We ate outdoors. Only one panhandler who rolled on along when we told him no.

The popcorn that they serve is very good! We didn't get a refill on it, not sure if they do that or not. The service we got was very slow. Our waitress seemed to be over chatting with coworkers and took a while for us to get our bill, however she was friendly! The food was fine, nothing too special about it. We did get to witness a bar altercation and much arguing that did lead to someone getting kicked out.

First time to this place and have to say it was just okay. The portion sizing for the cost doesn't seem right. My cousins got burgers with fries and it just looked like a sad plate. I got the Wisco burger with the coleslaw. The burger was pretty tasty. Have to say that the coleslaw was not very good. It did not have any flavor. Service was pretty good. And the overall atmosphere was good I have to say. If I had to come here again I probably would pass on this place.
