We have been wanting to try this place for so long. Vegan food can be really great and very vibrant. This was shredded, dry brussel sprouts and boiled potatoes. I have been to vegan restaurants that opened my eyes and mind, this one left me feeling played. Entree prices for small plates, $7 for a can of beer. I wish them the best of luck, but do not understand the reputation of this place. Hummus was good, at the least.

Even though I am not 100% vegan I still enjoy meatless meals. I have been here several times with the changes in menus and each time there is something new to enjoy. The wines are superb also and I also like the ambiance with the vinyl playing for background music. I am hoping post COVID to return again. Definitely recommend this

Smart, delicious all plant-based / vegan food for anyone who appreciates excellence in cooking. You won't be disappointed... in anything but the fact that you don't have two stomachs. This place is my new favorite.

The food was very good, the place nice but too little, and it was overpriced. The guy behind the bar, kind and lovely, kept reminding about prices and charges (3$ for 5 small additional slices of bread "but it is a very good bread". Agreed, but, bruh, charging a little bread?) of anything we asked, and I think transparency is very good... But in the end, he charged automatic gratuity. With a wonderful speach about "I think optional gratuity is wrong", and he charged 20%. Twenty percent, yeah. In a country where 10-15% is the average you give, right? Given that it was already op, it's unbelievable. What's the point of being loudly transparent on prices, while in the end you stub the back of your customer with that? I'm sorry, no.

If you ever need an executive chef call me 🤙 food was not "rounded". Good quality ingredients, missing the extra layering to make things spectacular. Service was good, atmosphere lovely, I think for the quality of ingredients the price was fair.

Excellent food, even the non-vegans in our party were very happy. It's a small menu, but all so good. We had quite a few dishes that we shared, all were amazing. Especially the tempura mac, the congee, and the chocolate cake. The only thing that was odd was that we were the only customers in the place and the music was playing very loudly, making it hard to hear each other. When we asked about the volume, we were told that's the volume and it can't be changed. Regardless, I'll be back!!

What a cute spot! Food was delicious my husband and I split the hummus plate, the mushroom tartine, and the eggplant caponata - all items from a new fall menu and each was delicious! My favorite was the mushroom tartine! Wine selection is incredible and so unexpected and the cocktail list is creative and fresh. Great afternoon spot for small bites and drinks! There is an automatic 20% service charge here but you'll find its well worth it!

Wow! What an amazing night I’m so excited I found this restaurant! Atmosphere was so fun drinks and half price bottle of wine was delicious. I have severe allergies to milk and I was stress free ordering off the menu. Dishes were outstanding. I loved the potatoes and orange wine selection.

Really delicious sharable meals. We tried the spinach rhubarb flatbread, nachos, and the hummus. All of the dishes were good in their own way and were happy with the dishes we tried. The staff was super friendly and nice to us!!

This small plate restaurant offered a really rare combination if flavors and original pairings. Drinks 4/5: wide variety of tripe of drinks. Prices were the usual. We ordered two vermouths, both delicious. The Blue Velvet drink does not own up to its name. It’s flavor is not soft nor smooth but rather citric.(I’m being generous with this description, trust me🥴) Portions 4/5: for a small plate place were good, but for the price they’re a little bit over. Ex. the gluten free “bread” has only 2 pieces cut in half. Taste: bread for our plates were a bit burnt and not the best flavor. Service 4/5: two people for a full restaurant is not much but they did a good job of taking care of us. HOWEVER, food took a LOT of time. Almost an hour for 2 dips with bread. Ambience: good outdoor seating not as noisy as you would think for the location. Inside siting is limited. A hipster multicultural melting pot, but definitely a casual place.

This place has been on my radar for a while. I finally made the trip (i.e. 10 minute walk) tonight, and it was well worth it. Everything about it was what I want from a dining out; warm atmosphere, excellent service, and and unique menu options. I had an Italian soda with house made simple syrup made from a vegetable I had never heard of (something celery-adjacent, I don’t remember the name, but it was lovely.) The hummus, veggies, and pita was delicious, and I can’t wait to go back and try more menu items. This place is a whole vibe.

We loved the adaptogenic chocolate cake, sea vegetable salad, baby red potatoes, and stuffed mushrooms 😍 we would recommend stopping in for some of the best vegan food you've ever had and support and local, small business that is kind and accepting of all! 💚

We had a very nice dinner- the celeriac slaw on toast and the chocolate cake were the standouts of the night. Our server was a delight!

Today was my first visit to Strange Town & I wanted to write this review asap to encourage folks to order the special of roasted asparagus, ostrich fiddle head, pheasant backed mushroom, & chive polenta while they have it! This dish was truly one of the best things I've eaten in Milwaukee in a long time. The flavors were lemony and fresh. It's so good - please order it while you can. I also ordered the Daikon Cakes off the menu and they were good. The flavor profile is more Asian inspired, so it was a big change after eating the polenta dish and I think they threw me off a bit. I liked the Daikon dish, but will probably try other menu items in the future before choosing to reorder. I also had the chocolate cake and it had a nice ganache-like frosting. The frosting had a coconut flavor I didn't particularly enjoy because I don't like coconut, and I don't remember the menu mentioning coconut. The cake itself is delicious and has nice, subtle flavors to complement the chocolate. Service was a bit slow when they were busy, but it wasn't a major issue. For reference, I ate as a single diner with 3 separate dishes and was there for ~1.5 hours. Lastly, a gratuity service charge of 20% is included in the bill. I appreciate this because it ensures staff get a decent wage regardless of added tips. Overall, I will be back.

We had a great evening. I wasn't worried about getting a seat because they don't take reservations, but it was no problem at 7:30 on a Friday night. We enjoyed everything but the pumpkin curry was so good that we had to ask if we could order another to take home to our daughter! My husband had martini and I had a interesting but good glass of wine.

Stopped here for drinks and some appetizers to share with friends on a Saturday night. Very accommodative to the two nut allergies in our party. Don’t let the vegan menu items scare you away, the food is incredibly tasty and will be liked by all palates. The cocktails are the star of the show with several fall inspired options as well as great wines by the glass and bottle. We love this neighborhood spot!

We were researching a vegan spot to eat, and we settled on Strange Town because of the great reviews. We ordered the warm bread and a mushroom dish. The bottom of the bread was burnt. The mushroom dish had absolutely no flavor! It was $22 for mushrooms that looked like they were shriveled up with a slight lemon sauce added to it. We talked to the person in charge and let her know that the dish was not great and too small for the price. Rather than acknowledging our concerns, she repeatedly told us everyone else loves the mushroom dish. She refused to take the dish off the bill, but she said she would give it to us at half price. We basically paid $23 for burnt bread and a handful of bland mushrooms . I felt scammed. If you want a great experience with good quality vegan food, I suggest going to Odd Duck!

We enjoyed our time. The Brussel sprout salad, warm bread, and tahini potatoes were yummy! The hot tea was delicious. It's not really a place to get a big meal, unless you order several small plates.

Personally, I find the menu to be a bit fussy. That's really a quality of me and not of the restaurant. The service is always superb. The small space can be quite loud. I think even with what I'm referring to as fussy food, any person who loves great food, including me, will love this place. I do. Conversation? You might have to hold that for later.

Strange Town is a place good things. Delicious food. Tea blends that they mix. The place has a cool urban vibe. We sat on the sidewalk and watched the world go by.

Strange Town is literally the best, it's a seasonal vegan based menu with extremely creative (ALSO seasonal!!) cocktails. They have an expert selection of wines. If you wanna impress your friends or just treat yourself to something exquisite and vegan look no further. Also just absolutely cute interior decor and playing nice selects off of vinyl. 6 stars if I could fr

Cool establishment. The sea salad was fresh and balanced. Tasty herbs and unique texture in the kelp noodles. Drinks were well-made, balanced with pretty garnishes. 1970s funk and blues music playing off a turntable.

Loved it!! I went for my early 2 year veganniversary and was a bit nervous from reviews about the small portions but no, all the food is meant to be shared and I went home stuffed!

Food was very mediocre, lacking flavor. Potato Croquettes were mushy, not properly seasoned. On top of ketchup? Mushroom Eggrolls again very bland, not good. Wine was good but kinda weak. But maybe that’s typical for natural wines, not sure. I always tip 20% in cash but for some reason the tip was auto added on payment at table for party of 2. Super confused? Server was actually great and wasn’t the one that ran cards at table. Only writing this as I checked now and see this place has high ratings for their food. They have a good space but very poor execution. Small plates as gimmick to turn profit.

Can not recommend enough! Lucas was our AWESOME server. Fun energy and great recommendations. Phenomenal food and drink! We loved the potato croquettes and fancy nachos were incredible, lots of fun bright flavors. They offer wine flights for those who like a variety (like me), and the Black Christmas cocktail is SO underrated. Not to mention the atmosphere is super cozy and chic. New favorite place!
