Mostly nice soft sand as you get closer to the water. Tide can come start to rise early (around 2 or 3ish), but there’s still some parts of the beach where you can sit. It can it crowded though there is room for you to have your own space. Parking is 1000¥ right next to the beach and it is limited. There is also parking across the street next to family mart. There are showers also 300¥ for 3 mins (they are in a portable potty).

A beautiful beach with designated areas for swimmers, with the rest available for surfers. Although we used to be able to crawl all over the rocks (30 years ago), they have put up ropes to keep tourists of the rocks. Visiting during the off season is best if you want to enjoy tranquil scenery of the beautiful turquoise waters free of any footprints in the sand. The torii at the far end of the beach is the "gateway" to the local shrine located further inland tucked behind the sand dunes and trees. Not much has changed over the past 30 years of visiting this location since the 1980s. Check out the video of this location at the Pix4Japan YouTube channel.

One of the most famous beaches around Izu. From Shimoda Station, take the bus or taxi. The water is beautiful, but when I went in the early season it was too cold! Check for the local season of festival and fireworks. The fireworks specially are magnificent and you can watch it from the beach. Coming from Tokyo, I stayed one night at the local ryokan (guest house) and it was a wonderful weekend.

Beautiful and clean beach. White sand and blue sea. You can find many parking lots near by. Parking costs 1,500 and 500 for shower. Parking lot is closed at 17.00. I went there in late July. Love it!

It was a bit crowded during summer season. The nearest parking charges ¥2,000 yen for a day. A little further parking charges ¥1,000. for shower they charge ¥300. Definitely would come back again 😍

White sands and amazing waves. Many facilities, parking lots and convenes stores around. Perfect place for holiday making. The ebb and tide movement is very strong, even when you place your beach sheet away from the water, from 3-4 pm the tides grow stronger and water can reach to your sheet area so better place your sheet/ tent further away if planing to stay for prolonged time.

Awesome beach. Highly recommended. Nice white sand. Went on a weekday in early July and was not crowded at all. Mostly foreign tourists since Japanese children not on summer break yet. Nice waves for body surfing, boogie boarding or beginning surfing. Surf shop across the road. Nice rocks and sea caves to explore at north and south ends of beach.

One of the best beaches to enjoy swimming in Japan. Very clean and safe as a lot of lifeguards and security around. Convenience stores are nearby. Good garbage boxes available to deter littering. Very polite and helpful staff. Parking is good. ¥2,000 from 8:00 to 16:00 but you must get there early as it gets very crowded. That’s in fact one of the drawbacks. Very crowded. The shower and cleaning up facilities are VERY VERY POOR considering how popular the place is. I have seen MUCH better facilities at smaller places. Toilets are not that great either.

A beautiful white sand beach with a lot of activities for families, kids and young people. There are several rental and purchase options for beach toys, swimming gear and activity equipment. Great for summer but September is also great - less busy & quiet.

Not worth 2.30 hours trip from Tokyo. Water is very clean and very cold, there’s 0 shade so rent a parasol if you want to live. After 6PM there’s nothing except the 7/11 and some suspicious bars hidden in some side roads. Lots of families, lots of tattooed “entrepreneurs”, so you find a bit of everything which makes the place interesting during the day. The highlight of the place is definitely the drone patrol flying above people swimming too far from the sea shore.

It was too cold to get into the water. However, it was so beautiful and comfy. You can access from Izu-Kyu Shimoda station and take a bus. If you miss the last bus, you need to call a local taxi (no service of taxi app) so beware! I recommend you all to check the bus time before going to the beach. There is a 7/11 convenience store near the beach so you can get some drinks and toffees! Also, there is a washroom so dw.

Nice beach, clean, big, clean beautiful water. But you need to find a place to change. There are no amenities either. All shops across the road. You can take a bus from Shimoda Station.

Here is my first beach experience at Japan. Superb view and very clean. Those who are planing to visit here definitely try surfing or even know how to swim otherwise you have to stand alone and watch people surfing as we did?

Beautiful beach. The water wasnt too cold or hot late August. Free access, and you can bring food/drinks amd a canopy tent to hide from the sun. The water was pretty clear when we went, we snorkled and saw some smaller fish handing around the rocks scattering in the water. We also saw two stingrays further out, would reccomend to snorkel on a calm day. The waves and currents can be pretty strong the further out you go.

Beautiful beach, seen from a distance. Garbage doesn't seem to be disposed of in the winter like it is in the summer. I'm sure it will be more beautiful in the summer when it is well maintained.

It was surreal experiencing the beach at night in off season and under a full moon. It's a very calm, peaceful, and serene beach with pleasant waves. Definitely one of the most beautiful beaches I've ever seen, with white sand. The waters were really clean and one of the bluest I've ever seen during the day. The beach is also known for surfing and you can see the locals early in the morning riding the waves.

A very good place to beat the summer. It is very spacious and you can do your own camp there. You can rent it or you can take your tent if possible. Floaters are also available to enjoy. For us it costs 500yen for 30mins as it was closing time. Parking is little difficult to get. Waves are not ferocious and you can actually enjoy playing there. Bathing facilities are available at few parking areas. Note: Drive from Tokyo is time taking. You can choose the beach road or something in between the mountain. Beach road will have traffic but you can have scenary. Road via mountain is mostly free but will be tired to drive and in most of the places were totally abandoned and you cannot see any people/shops on the way. So, choose the way you want to reach.

Different experience this year. Still crowded but in the interest of social distancing, etc, the beach was cordoned off in small sections and temperatures were taken at the entrances. No social distancing was present in the convenience store but some people wore masks.

Amazing spot to catch the sunrise. Water and sand were the best compare to the beaches around the area. The bad: A lot of people just leave their trash behind. It’s painful to see how dirty it gets in the late afternoon and early morning. I hope more people can be responsible for their trash.

Beautiful beach but expensive parking lot 2,000 and yet their toilet is not well maintained it has aa very strong smell.. and the sand full of broken bottles and shopsticks you can't walk without sandals and feel the beauty of white sand. Very expensive small compact shower of 300yen for 3 mins timer. The staffs are old men sitting in front of it which is very awkward to take a shower. I mean how they have a very expensive parking lot and the shower is not free? as if it was a private resort or something.
