Super easy walk to upper fall. Many steps to reach lower falls but it was easy, short walk. Gorgeous place! Felt like a mermaid!

The plan is to always try to visit all the areas of the park, an incredible site surrounded by huge picnic areas, various gardens, hiking and biking trails, historical landmarks, a disc golf course and obviously the waterfalls that we see every year, you know we couldn't miss it (although you can never have enough of the Minnehaha Falls, the site becomes even better from a different angle and season of the year with such a beautiful view). With its easy-to-walk trails and bridges along the way you can also take advantage of the view of the creek that converges on the Mississippi River. This place is definitely perfect to go either alone, with your partner in crime, family, friends and of course also with your pets. A place that offers you endless activities with pleasant moments and unforgettable memories. A real gem in the middle of the twin cities.

I love coming to this place each time I visit Minneapolis-St. Paul. It's such a tranquil park. And it is amazing to visit in the winter when the Falls are frozen over, and you have tremendous icicles hanging over the ridge. It's a really beautiful place. It's also very easy to get there with the public transportation, which drops you right off in front of the park.

This park is so much more than the falls! If you take the trail toward the river it’s absolutely beautiful. You will eventually get to the river and there is a beach. Great views, cool graffiti and wasn’t too crowded. Get to the falls early to avoid over crowding.

Minnehaha Regional Park is pretty cool place to spend time outside. To enjoy waterfalls and river. Multiple hiking trails. There are separate trails for bikes. And there is special area for walking dogs without leash (dog permit required). All other areas you can still walk the dogs but on the leash only. Today was so dry that there were no water in the waterfalls areas.

Very nice park with a water fall. There are stairs that you can walk down to get a little closer view. But you better be in half decent shape because it is a whole lot of steps. You will feel it when you are coming back up. Lol. There are a lot of other activities in this park too.

Often crowded bit the trails are wide most of the way. The staircases are cool. Some geology and history. Trail ends at the river

What a beautiful park. It's full of Minneapolis history. Many statues to stop and see along with other historical buildings and markers. There is plenty of parking although you may have to pay a few bucks. Please visit the area. I promise you will not regret the decision.

Nice little sightseeing trip. You can take a short walk down to the bottom of the falls for pictures. You have to pay for parking, but it's only $1.50 for an hour.

A staple of the city, a must see, a clean, fun and breathtaking beauty. Can be tough to find parking, but with patience you’ll get there. Quick and efficient system for paying the minimal parking fee that seems to work in most areas of the city. This is one of Chief’s most cherished places that we’ve found so far. So much more to do/see!!! Update: in case you haven’t heard, it gets a little bit chilly here so I wanted to add a couple of additions from December 2021

We visited here over Spring break near the end of March. You park on the street and the falls are literally a few hundred feet away. There are stone stairs going down closer that can be slippery so be sure to use the handrail. You don't have to go down the stairs to see the entire falls which is nice for accessibility. Dress warm even in Spring. I would give it 5 stars but we couldn't get the guided tour to work on the phone number given on the sign. The falls were partially frozen but there was still a beautiful flowing waterfall running. It was worth the cold and stairs to see such a beautiful sight.

Any time of year, this is an iconic and memorable stop for both locals and visitors alike. I happen to post this review (and pic's) after a chilly winter visit. The falls are a magnet and beckon the curious, the adventurous and any every level of nature enthusiast. Great trails to enjoy both atop the falls and along the water as well. Peak times may have some searching for a (paid) parking space along the parkway, but it's absolutely worth it!

Wonderful park! Very pretty with lots of amenities and walking paths. The falls themselves are beautiful, but there are tons of places to explore here. The park also has a huge off leash dog area which is by far the best dog park we have ever been to. Well worth the visit!

This is a well maintained and easy to walk park! They had live music when I went and a little eatery right beside too! If you go on the trail you’ll see the beautiful falls which lead straight into the Mississippi River! There’s a nice beach beside for fishing or just hanging out!

(Translated by Google) I was fascinated with the place, the frozen waterfalls are a wonderful spectacle, going down and up stairs with ice snow is an adventure and trying the ice with the falls is a high risk sport 😂😂👍😍 if you visit it, you will enjoy it at the maximum (Original) Quedé fascinada con el lugar, las cascadas congeladas son un espectáculo maravilloso, bajar y subir escaleras con hielo nieve es toda una aventura y probar el hielo con las caídas es deporte de alto riesgo 😂😂👍😍 si lo visitas, lo vas a disfrutar al máximo

Just beautiful trails and waterfall. It was an awesome experience as I got to see it still running, but in the phase of transition to becoming solid 🧊. A must visit!

  • 5/5 Jesse B. 1 year ago on Google
A beautiful park to experience, especially at the beginning of Fall. The park has several walking paths, allowing people to explore various areas. Of course, there's a beautiful waterfall to see (although it may not be active in the Fall). There's also an eatery nearby for snacks, meals, and drinks.

My husband and I went to visit family in Minnesota in 2021. They took us here and instantly fell in love with the view. There are stairs going down so you can be closer to the waterfall and able to take pictures. It’s also dog and kid friendly which was great!!

I have always loved going here. It is such a beautiful place to hike. Disappointing that you can't go down by the falls anymore. We had a good walk though and we're able to get some good pictures.

The place is gorgeous, the waterfall is beautiful and while you're walking the paths, you will en encounter some wild life running/flying around. The sound of the water flowing will acompany almost the whole way, so it's a really relaxing walk. The stone bridges are very nice, too bad modt of them had graffiti on, but at least they look good and are not damaged. The Beach area and the yellow wall/cave are amazing. I'd love to get back some day and catch the waterfall frozen.

Great park with nice long trails to hike. Downloaded mpls parking app and was able to pay for parking right off my phone. Park was wooded with a ton of trails that followed a creek from the Minnehaha water fall down to the good old Mississippi River! We brought our pups along and have a great time with the family.

A scenic park to feel the oneness with nature in the city of Minneapolis. Perhaps one of the best parks in the Twin Cities. The views of the water falls are wonderful. This park houses the Minnehaha falls and the creek, that flows into the Mississippi River. Located conveniently from the metros and downtown Minneapolis, one can feel the closeness with nature through fun activities like hiking, bike riding, fishing etc.

Always a fun time. The water was really low due to the lack of rain, but it was still nice to walk around. Plus my husband pet some bees so that was the highlight of his day.

  • 5/5 Richard B. 1 year ago on Google
This was an adorable park with nice amenities, beautiful scenery, and a nice slice of American history. I wish I had the time to fully explore the park, but I feel every time I go someplace neat, my time allotment is already stretched thin. Me and my family explored the area after a wonderful brunch. The only complaint I have is you need to arrive earlier in the day if you want a parking spot that is a reasonable distance from any attractions in the facility. However, I needed the exercise so I can’t say too much. What a wonderful day.

The only saw a small portion of this park. It was absolutely beautiful day and a beautiful walk. We are from out of town and it looks like they just had a large snowfall. The weather was in the 80s in the snow is still starting to melt. We parked at a pay lot and walked about a mile to get to the Falls. You can park right next to the Falls to get out but it was nice to go walk through the woods and through the park. When we went, it was still early April also the weather was still starting to bloom. I have no doubt this area is absolutely gorgeous during the spring and fall and all the colors. Did see lots of graffiti sadly. While I do believe that some graffiti can be gorgeous where this graffiti was located degraded the park a little bit. As we were walking back from the Falls, we stopped and got Italian ice. The gentleman was super nice and it was super good. Would highly recommend stopping by at least once, if you’re in the area. If you live in the area, I believe this is a wonderful park where you could spend time with your family doing many different activities One thing I did not like about the park was that we only found one restroom when we were walking. The restroom was a porta potty, it was super full, and there is no toilet paper. Not sure if there are other places throughout the park or maybe when the restaurants are open during the summer, but would recommend using the restroom before enjoying this beautiful park

What a beautiful and relaxing park. Great for families and pets! Tons of walking trails, as well. The only downside is that to get down to the river, there is a few flights of stairs, but they're in pretty good condition, so it's not horrible. Great place to visit!

This is a wonderful Park in the Minneapolis Park and Recreation board system & I have been here many, many multiple times, & I will return many, many more times. A great place for picnics with all of the members of your family, young, old, purple, orange & green persons, too. You can also enjoy the wonders of the Minnehaha Falls, & the many flower gardens. Many scheduled activities take place in the park during the summer, no doubt you can easily find a festival for yourself during the summer. And don't forget to bring your cameras with you, including real cameras & those found on your telephone.

Love the beauty and cultural diversity found at Minnehaha Regional Park and Falls. One of Minneapolis' oldest and most popular parks features a majestic 53-foot waterfall, limestone bluffs and a wonderful trail that leads to the Mississippi River. Sea Salt Eatery is always fabulous. A very spiritual place with many hidden gems in any season. Check it out! 💙

A fine park to visit in a more urban section of Minesota, the waterfall is an absolutely spectacular sight to see for tourists. It's also a great local playground/picnicing area for locals and their children alike. A very well maintained asfalt trail can take you around the park if you're more into the exercising aspect of the great outdoors. Placards around the park and in the area tell a very interesting story of the land encompassing the waterfall and how it's name was orignated. For the more historically driven to the attraction. You're veiwing can take as long as you like, be it fifteen minutes when you're on your way to or from one of the many local disc golf courses in the area. You may also make a day of it with a solid meal among the trees, grass and sunshine. Couldn't recommend this area enough.

A Minneapolis Wonderland where nature is displayed in one subtle, soothing and calming experience one after another. Free! It is majestic and provides something stunning for the entire family. Friendly Families from around the world visit there for a reason. One minute you can be in the city--next minute engulfed in a panoramic scene of Mother Nature. Minneapolis Parks and Recreation spent millions beautifying the park and making it safe for all. The restaurant is high end but affordable and you can eat outside while listening to the waterfall. There are numerous pavilions and grills for family bar-b-que events. You can reserve them in advance or find unoccupied ones at your discretion. It is semi handicap accessable. The concrete steps take you down to Minnehaha Creek and you can safely follow the boardwalk all the way to the Mississippi River with bridges and trails at every whim for adventure, nature or romance. In the summer time there is a wading pool where parents take young children to cool off and play. The beach where the creek meets and flows into the river provides awesome fishing options for walleye, northerns, muskies, trout, carp, panfish and crocodiles! (Okay...no crocks!)🙂 Have fun!

Downstream from the Falls is this beautiful park. Follow the stream for tiny bridges, a natural kiddie pool, and gorgeous alcoves for peace and relaxation. Mild hike. Totally worth it. Specially beautiful this fall, love the leaves falling into the water

  • 4/5 Brady Lee H. 3 years ago on Google
Interesting to see that the steps were closed - only because #MinneapolisParkSystem must not have wanted to shovel them, and plowed the surrounding walkways. Very dangerous since people chose to use the stairs anyway. Of course the falls were beautiful as always! Families were sliding & playing. Great day to #EnjoyAPark! #MinnehahaFallsPark

A hidden treasure in a very unlikely place. Minnesota does a really good job of valuing and maintaining natural beauty in urbanized environments. The way the park and activities are cradled inside the woods and natural feeling trails is awesome! Make sure you bring mosquito spray.

  • 5/5 Terry L. 3 years ago on Google
Visited December 13, 2020 and the park was bustling with activity! All the stairs are 'off limits' so use caution if you ignore the blockades. The falls are always spectacular, and with some cold weather even more frozen water will enhance the glaze. Be sure to view the falls from the bridge at the top. Many coins can be seen in the clear water. Be cautious to the south end of the park. There is an encampment of quiet but private homeless population. Be respectful and you can have a nice 3 mile walk around the entire park. Port-a-potty is sparse but available. Expect to wear a mask in populace areas. Can't wait to return.
