Very rude staff, came for a convention and brought my own lunch. I have a very specialized diet. They told us all we need to eat outside in the middle of winter. No outside food allowed and didn't clearly covey that prior to our arrival. Discrimination at it's finest.. I will never be coming back and will make sure to let everyone know.

At our annual convention, we were told before lunchtime that we are not allowed outside food unless you have a room. Well, many of us locals didn't book and some of us did bring a lunch, but not everyone did. If you know you ate hosting an convention or any event, they should mention that prior to the event not in the middle of it and so close to lunchtime. That in itself is disappointing and discouraging to come back or recommend for future business

I would quite literally never give this hotel my business again if I were paid to. The room was beautiful and the front desk staff were welcoming and so nice. The "Event Coordinator" or whatever his title is is probably the rudest, most condescending man I've ever had the misfortune of dealing with and has zero business being a customer facing representative in the hospitality industry. I absolutely plan on writing a very long and detailed account of the deplorable way myself and our group in general was treated but for now, I advise everyone to avoid this place as a venue for your event.

    1. I found out the skyway are locked during the weekend. 2. Maintenance knocked on the door after 9 o clock then walked in before I could get to the door. He did say sorry but it was on his list to fix something. 3. Housekeeping was knocking on my door at 8:30am to clean the room. Hotel was nice and clean but also hard to get to from parking garage.

We love the Marriott brand and my husband is a Titanium Member for life. As expected as we were arriving in Minneapolis, he received a photo of the room that we will be staying in. However, when we checked in, Carlos, who was there at the front desk took one look at us and decided that as brown people we should not have that room! He mentioned something to the effect that due to construction we can't access the room. I did not see any construction. Anyway, after tapping on the keyboard he promptly downgraded us to the tiniest room with a queen bed, even though it clearly states in the profile that we prefer a king bed. It was a sad and claustrophobic room. In the morning fortunately, we were able to change to a better room. It left a very bad taste in our mouths. The sleep quality is rather poor as the outdoor noise come in even at the high level, we were on the 27th floor. Service was good.

I stayed at the Marriott for a Convention. My room was very comfortable and the staff took care of my every need. The food was good, and the choices plentiful. I loved walking around the neighborhood - we discovered Mary Tyler Moore's statue, a great old fashioned candy store. It was very interesting. I had a great time and a very comfortable stay.

Room was spotless and very nice. Excellent front desk staff. A little tricky parking in the ramp and finding the lobby. Bar/restaurant was actually pretty good, and prices were not outrageous. Would stay again.

Their bi-level suites are quite unique with bed and bathroom in the second floor. Very secure with the lobby being 5th floor and having separate elevator to the rooms. The M club lounge is nice inside but not serving breakfast (Sept 2022). They have breakfast at the restaurant next door for higher bonvoy teirs.

Stayed here for a conference! Hotel was clean, comfortable and also just aesthetically pleasing. I was only here for one night but I enjoyed my stay! The bathroom was modern as well!

Horrible experience. We were given no information at check in. No information in the rooms and no directions on how to get on WiFi. Tried calling front desk and no one ever picked up. Air conditioner didn’t work, had to call from our own cell phones the main line which took forever - got the run around and eventually had to physically go down stairs to try to talk to someone. We wanted two queens, but the beds were smaller (full?). They gave no information about things to do in the city. It was a maze trying to get to our room from the parking garage. No microwave in the room. No freezer in the mini fridge. We were definitely less than impressed.

Was a picture perfect stay - had a superb room. The best of any Marriott I have ever stayed at. Staff was polite, helpful, and accommodating. This will be my go-to hotel in Minneapolis!

The staff at this hotel is very friendly. Especially the door man. I couldn’t be happier with the staff. However, during peak/ prime check-in time only one person was working the front desks. The M lounge was atrocious. There aren’t really any good drinks or snacks in that lounge. Very disappointing for status members. Now let’s get to the bad and ugly. This hotel is on a bad block. There will be lots of homeless and thugs hanging outside the building. The building doesn’t have nearly enough security. I was on a high floor and heard music with loud bass blaring all night long and you hear about 5 sirens a minute all through the night. This area literally turns into The wire after the sun goes down. Also drugs are definitely being sold out of this hotel. Not by staff members but people off the street use the street elevators to come up and hide in the corridors and they are selling drugs out of the corridors. The only elevators that are secure are those that lead up to the actual rooms. Elevators to the skyway, street, and ballroom allow for anyone to get in and it’s quite dangerous. I was literally shoved outside of one by a man for accidentally bumping into him. This place needs way more security. It is in a bad area. Female business travelers should beware before booking this. I normally travel solo, but this time my husband came with me and I was relieved that he did this tine. Families this is not a place you want your kids to stay trust me. And Marriott you should really do something about this property.

Check-in was easy, and I was early, so they stored my luggage and went to the M Club, where I was greeted and shown the place and explained the breakfast and evening hors d'oeuvres and hours of operation. I did my work, had some snacks, and my room was ready. I was upgraded to a suite, so thank you very much; it was spacious and clean. I had an issue with hot water through no fault of the hotel due to a water main break on the street( which I found out from the maintenance staff who came to check it out). The staff were always friendly and asked if I needed any assistance. The gym was clean and had many options, from weight machines to treadmills, bikes, and elliptical machines. The only thing that needs to be added is a swimming pool and sauna/steam room. The location is excellent, right in the heart of downtown Minneapolis, with choices of restaurants, bars and few coffee shops.

Rooms are a bit tight but nice. It was either hot or cold in the room which was hard to manage. The bar in the lobby is crazy expensive, $24/glass for wine. The doorman was the most helpful and needs a raise, he was so extremely nice to our entire group

I just finished a great four day stay here for a conference. At check in Rochelle was so kind to help me with Wi-Fi access and take. A little time to find me the room I would be most comfortable in. She went out of her way which I appreciated. At the conference I had a tech breakdown and needed to get a replacement quick, I was ready to get in a car to go 7 miles to the Apple Store. Darrin who was providing the coffee service saved the whole conference day by telling me there was a target a five minute walk away and told me how to get there. I was back up and running right away thanks to him. The rooms are nice, mine looked at the Prince mural and the baseball stadium. Clean, quiet, modern and comfortable all around.

Stayed here a couple of times and enjoy it. The first time was 2 years ago as a guest speaker for an event and this time as a guest. Staff has always been friendly. Rachelle helped me this time, and she is awesome!! I would recommend Ubering from the airport if you arrive in the evening instead of taking public transport. It's a bit of a walk from the stop.

I have never experienced such bad service at a hotel. I was in shock at the comments that were made by the staff. We went there for a friend's birthday and the room was supposed to be a gift. The front desk staff blurted out how much I paid for the room and stated the he would never pay that much for room for just one night. I was so embarrassed and couldn't understand why he'd make us feel like that. I mean he worked there. I went up to the room to make sure my extra cot/ bed was in there and it wasn't, so I tried calling front desk, but the line was busy for 40 minutes. I had to go back down to ask for it again. We missed our reservations with all the things we had to keep asking for. I paid for other benefits like VIP lounge but we couldn't get in with our card keys and they told me I wasn't a member. I paid for it, and I am a member :(. They fixed it, but shouldn't they have checked before they assumed I wasn't member? So I hoped breakfast would make up for the bad night, our reservations said our accommodations included breakfast and would be served until noon, but when we went down to eat, they said "Ma'am it's breakfast, we only serve until 10am", but my reservation clearly said until noon. No apology, no trying to fix anything, they just told me I was looking at the wrong app and that wasn't their website. So, how did I just spend the night in their rooms with the reservation on my app? The woman asked to look at my reservation again then complained that she couldn't see it on my large galaxy note phone? I was just so mortified by my whole experience at that stay. I won't be staying there again.

I want to share an amazing story about George Glover and how he goes above and beyond for Marriott guests. I was recently at the hotel for a work meeting. I needed to purchase some items at the Target center, but learned the walkway was closed. I shared by dilemma with George and he quickly provided a solution. He gave me his winter coat and personally escorted me to the Target. I was so grateful to this man for his compassion and kindness. In this world where everyone is so busy and absorbed with their own challenges, George made a huge difference in my life. Thank you George for your kindness and exemplary customer service. Thank you Marriott for employees that make peoples stays perfect Debbie Sutton

This is a very good Marriott property. Excellent location. Nice staff. Clean and comfortable rooms. Decent gym. Good lobby bar (Bartender Kelly was excellent- so was Precious and Eliott). I would definitely stay here again.

I’m a titanium member and I’ve never had such poor service. I notified them at 4pm that the soap dispensers was empty. Three hours later they still had not rectified the problem. I will find another property next time I come to MSP.

Excellent facilities, centrally located right in downtown, short walk to river, target field, metro line, and convention center. Room are very spacious and well appointed. Fitness center adequate but no pool.

I recently stayed at a Renaissance hotel and was blown away by the exceptional service provided by Lensa at the front desk. She went above and beyond to accommodate my needs, quickly recommending a room change that would better support my virtual work needs. Lensa’s professionalism and kindness made a lasting impression on me. I highly recommend this hotel and hope that Lensa’s efforts are recognized and rewarded by her company.”

The Minneapolis Marriott City Center helped make our 2022 New Year's Even wedding absolutely perfect! Cindy did a great job of coordinating a wedding block for us and our guests! She was very responsive and helped meet some of our special accommodations. Our suite was very clean and spacious when we arrived. The doorman George was super helpful throughout the entire weekend! The bartenders in the lobby restaurant were also great! We definitely recommend the Minneapolis Marriott City Center!

I see that someone else had difficulty with payment issues and glad I’m not alone. I was change 3 times for a single night stay and no one is available to talk to me. I have 5 kids and other responsibilities. It is crazy that a multimillion dollar company is capable of doing this. That is just greed at this point.. I’ve called and left my contact info along with my name and no call back. Today makes it 10 days. Looks like I will not be getting my refund, Marriott is a joke.

Hallways smelt like weed at 4 am to the point where I woke up from the smell being so strong in my room. When I called down to the front desk, my concerns were dismissed and the response was “we took care of that and I’m charging you full price for your room because you didn’t fill out a form”. Inappropriate timing for the conversation and incredible lack of customer service over something that could have been easily fixed. A 4 AM complaint was reversed into customer accusations. Not appropriate for a front desk clerk.

Mr Reinhard (night audit) was one of the most respectable men I’ve ever met. Helped me in the middle of the night with my stupid requests.(paper, pen, letter, bottle of beer) incredibly personable and understanding at 1:30am. Great guy, deserves a raise and promotion. People make the business. Take care of your talent. Extremely satisfied.

Very nice rooms and service. Parking is a bit inconvenient unless you use the valet. As getting there involves going through the mall or outside and up a steep ramp. Food was excellent. Also, there are plenty of nice little eateries and bars within a few blocks. If your thing is shopping, there is the city center mall attached to the back of the hotel. Wi-Fi service was good, but using your phone as a key was a bit iffy. Stop at the desk and get a key card just in case.

The hotel was nice but the loud music to 2am from a local outdoor venue, and the sirens as well, made it hard to sleep. We said something about this and were told that the venue had been cited for noise but it was continuing. We did have a nice breakfast buffet and Jean was an amazing waiter. Hopefully the local venue issue gets resolved soon...

Updating from my review when I started my stay: Even though they responded to this review, it looks like the response was purely performance. They never really made any effort to improve. For example, room service didn't visit my room until my last night there. First night: I am just starting my stay, so they have time to recover. Yet, first impressions are important. They did not have enough staff to handle check-in. The rooms are tiny (but modern). Ordering room service my first night(when I was admittedly tired from traveling) did not go well.
