My partner and I love Owamni, so we were very excited to see Indigenous Food Lab out in the community at East Lake Open Streets today. We tried the Indigenous Grain Bowl with the 3 sisters. It came with a delightful red sauce with a hint of spice. The meal was hearty yet refreshing, and it hit the spot on a hot and sunny day. I’m looking forward to visiting the storefront in the Midtown Global Market to try the rest of their offerings.

I got the grain bowl with 3 Sisters and salsa roja at open streets and loved it! It tasted delicious and fresh and healthy. There was also a sample of iced Community Tea which was refreshing and I would have bought in a larger format. Can't wait to check out their space in Midtown Global Market proper

Food was good. We got the blue corn bison tacos and friends got the bison quinoa and rice something. Food was tasty and flavorful. The Serrano sauce was epic and their roja sauce was also pretty great. Also bought a lip balm and a book from here. We got some drinks here but I didn't like them. I think it's just because I wasn't used to it or my expectations were out of whack. Not sure. Either way I didn't like the drinks.

Not only is the food delicious, the ingredients are high quality and healthy!! Best food in Minneapolis!! I had the Bison tacos and also the three sisters squash tacos. I also had the tepary bean chili soup with oven-roasted herb infused turkey added in. Yummy!! Next time I want to try their teas. The ingredients look amazing -- nettle, elderberry, burdock root, sumac, roasted cacao, etc. I'm definitely going to be a repeat customer.

I love the Indigenous Food Lab! The food and drinks are incredible and so special. In addition to being a favorite place to visit as a family, it’s a great place to take visitors from out of town to introduce them to local native food and indigenous culture. Fav order is the grain bowl with smoked white fish and an iced cacao latte. They also have a fantastic shop with great books - historical, children’s, cooking, etc. as well as other local and native-made food and gifts. The staff are wonderful, so welcoming and helpful. Can’t say enough about the IFL, I am so thankful for their presence!

You MUST try the Tepary Bean Chili Soup! Suggested protein to add is the Bison. I was very skeptical of this place at first but the staff there are very welcoming and remember their regulars. The different options are great if you're willing to try something new. I get the chili at least once a week. This coming fall it will warm you up and leave you full! I'M HUNGRY!

Awesome meal from here. Super filling and great selection of books and gifts to shop for while you wait! I got a bison birria grain bowl with corn salsa and a sun cookie. So glad we stopped here!

My wife and I brought her mother and brother here so we could all try indigenous food for the first time. We had not had it before so we weren't sure what to expect. The menu is simple but how it works allows you to make several different combinations. They had 3 different bases (Tacos, Chonginyapi, and Indigenous Grain Bowl), 5 protein options (Bison birria, smoked whitefish, smoked turkey, 3 Sisters, mushroom), and 4 sauces (salsa roja, salsa verde, corn salsa, wozapi). I had the grain bowl with 3 sisters (nixtamal, tepary bean, and squash) with corn salsa. The grain bowl already had tepary beans and nixtamal but also had wild rice and quinoa. The corn salsa was made of yellow sweet corn and sumac which was nice a creamy. The meal itself was very filling. My wife got the grain bowl with the smoked turkey and wozapi sauce which is made with berries and maple syrup. The sauce was very unique and as expected the berries and maple syrup made it sweet. It provided a nice sweet and savory mix to her meal. 10/10, would definitely go again. As I like spicy foods, next time I will try the grain bowl with the bison and salsa roja.

Of course the market operated by the same team that brought us the 2022 Best-New- Restaurant-in-America Owamni is awesome. PERFECT corn tortillas, impossible to find products (including Abuelita Guille hot sauce!), amazing staff. 💯/💯

Wonderful brewed cacao latté but even more so wonderful was my brief interaction with Jackie. She’s a gem. Love the energy. 10/10 chefs kiss
