I visited Our Kitchen for the first time today, and I am already planning my next visit. What a true Minneapolis gem. Our Kitchen has an excellent atmosphere- cozy, friendly, and charming- with lots of history. We were surrounded by regulars, and the staff knew them by name. We chatted with one regular who spoke highly of the joint and showed us pictures of him visiting Our Kitchen dressed as Santa. Everyone was in high spirits, and they played great music to further set the vibe. Their menu is short and basic, because everything is expertly prepared. You get to watch Danny work his magic at the grill while you await your hot and fresh food. I ordered two eggs over medium, hashbrowns, coffee, and a chocolate chip pancake. Everything exceeded my expectations, and the pancake was the best pancake I’ve ever consumed. It was sweet, fluffy, and chewy. What a great place!!!

Just arrived back in the United States and I needed a good breakfast so I headed over to Our Kitchen. Ordered the kitchen special: two eggs, hash browns, sausage, blueberry pancake, and coffee. Everything was solid, but nothing was mind blowing. Service and the atmosphere were great. I loved the diner feel and it was nice to sit at the counter.

Hands down one of the best breakfasts I’ve ever had. This little hidden gem has amazing food, and the incredible items are made to order in front of you on the griddle. It’s a small space, but excellent food!

Best breakfast I have had in many years. I had the kitchen special w/a blueberry pancake the size of the plate. I will be going back again on a week day. Weekends are super busy, so expect to wait awhile to get in. Only 20 seats. I loved it.

I’m obsessed with Al’s breakfast in dinkytown for the retro vibes and tiny local place, so I’ve been really excited to try Our kitchen for the similarity. It lived up to the hype and is a great brunch option in the Uptown area! We waited around 20 minutes at 10:30 on a Sunday. With the limited seating and singular grill to prepare food, it was a longer brunch experience but definitely worth it. The staff were friendly and efficient at bringing people in and out. I tried the pancakes with blueberries and chocolate chips and would definitely recommend them. Very buttery and on the denser side, which I prefer. Be prepared for a wait on the weekends but the food and vibes will be worth it!

Ohhhh what an incredible breakfast!! Pancakes were among the best I have had!!! Blueberry and cooked to perfection not doughy or over cooked just the perfect texture! Ham had just the perfect char to give it that deep pork taste yet moist and tender!! Everything cooked to order! Not a sham bam here is your food spot Quality takes time so relax and wait for an incredible meal!!! Cook and staff were friendly and efficient!!! Hard pressed to find a better spot anywhere anytime anyplace !!!

Yum!! First time here a few weeks ago and have brought family since! Food is delicious and beyond worth the wait! This fun, historical diner cooks delicious food that isn't greasy like so many other diners. When you arrive, please read the board stating to wait outside for them to get you on the list. Definitely worth the wait.

BACKSTORY: Years ago as a small child (2nd Grade) - went to school with a young lad named "Danny". It was a very short lived friendship. At the end of that school year his family moved away. The following year my family moved and a whole new life began for me as well. I would reminisce from time to time and one in a great while Danny popped up in my mind. I always wondered whatever happened to him. Fast forward 40+ years later (and the internet) and Danny popped into my head again. I thought "I wonder if the internet had anything to share. One internet search later and I was reading articles & reviews about Danny and Our Kitchen. I vowed one day I was going visit Our Kitchen. DISCLAIMER - Not knowing if Danny would remember me or not (not likely) - I had no intentions of making my visit a "thing". I did not introduce myself. For full transparency - I have no bias for the review of the restaurant or food. Not having any contact with the owner in in 47 years I have nothing to gain or to loose by my honesty in this review. REVIEW - After we dropped our car off for service, my wife and I decided to make it a "breakfast date morning" - and I thought this was the PERFECT opportunity to visit Our Kitchen! We arrived around 8:30am. Originally I wanted a patio seat outside - but since they were full, we ended up being seated inside in a little corner facing the grill. That was really a blessing in disguise! After ordering, we were fortunate to have a front row seat watching Danny do his thing. As many reviews before me have said - watching Danny prepare the orders was a site to behold. It was like watching a orchestra - grab some bread, into the toaster the bread went, flip some hash browns, pour some new pancakes on the griddle, cheese up that omelet in the pan, grab some eggs out of the fridge, butter that toast, prepare a plate, new eggs on the griddle, throw some new hash browns down on the griddle - and so it went throughout our time there. But, that did not stop Danny and his staff from some friendly banter! I am almost certain he did not recognize me during my visit. Here is where I briefly contemplated saying a long overdue hello to an old (and brief) friendship - but, I decided against it. I'm a little oddly anti-social, and Danny was a VERY busy fella - I allowed our interactions to remain friendly, casual, and brief. Soon we were watching Danny prepare our order. One of the things I have heard numerous times - is the size of the portions... So, my wife and I decided to split the Our Kitchen "Kitchen Special", and we added another couple of eggs on the side. Everything you have read about the portions is true. AMAZING!! Easily enough for two - or for one with some great leftovers later! The hash browns were as amazing as the articles you read about. My wife said that they appeared to be freshly shredded! The pancake was equally enjoyable! My wife went on and on with her praise about the pancake - and I was in complete agreement! In the end, we "tapped out" with a tiny bit of hash browns left over (just not enough to take home) and were both comfortably satisfied (if not even a bit "full"). The stop at Our Kitchen was an amazing kick-of to our morning date day! (We followed up with a walk around Lake Harriet to "work off" some of our big (and very tasty) breakfast! If you are on the fence about stopping at Our Kitchen, stop! Get off the fence and go visit this amazing little gem!! And for those of you who made it all the way through the story, and are still wondering - I did leave a small note in with the check saying hello from a old friend from long ago - and thanking Danny for a WONDERFUL breakfast!! Danny, if you are reading this review - You have an amazing little place, and it's clear you and your food are appreciated by many! I'm glad to see how well things have worked out for you! Keep it up!! Thanks for a wonderful experience! (David, from St. Kevin's - remembering drawing cemeteries and ghosts fondly!)

Overall solid breakfast spot! The service was a bit on the slow side, although we went at 9 am on a nice, summer Sunday, so that’s understandable. Lots of outdoor seating. The food was great, certain things were better than others. We’d go back for the hash browns and sausage. Both were amazing and seemed to be hand cut/made. The rest of the food (eggs, pancakes) was certainly good, but nothing stands out about them. Worth checking out!

First time here, and everything was amazing! Service was fast and friendly, the food was fresh, hot and delicious. The hash browns are hands down the best I've had.

Tiny little place but, delicious food and great service. Fresh hashbrowns and homemade pancakes are so good! Coffee is good and hot as well.

Absolutely perfect for a duo morning meal. Not the best for larger parties as you may have to split up. Food is reasonably priced. You have the wait staff in front of you along with the kitchen for an intimate environment.

We were so excited to try this place on Sunday morning. We got on the wait-list and we're told it would be 35 minutes. We stood on the cold porch and chatted with others also in line. After 30 minutes, people were walking right into the restaurant and taking a seat at the counter. The couple next to us started to get annoyed and talked about just walking in and taking a seat themselves. So when the hostess dressed as Cruella walked by to add more people onto the wait-list, I kindly tried to ask her how their list worked. She completely ignored me. Brushed me off and wouldn't even look my way. After adding others onto the list, she entered back through the porch and was clearly annoyed by my question. So we decided to leave. After 5 minutes of driving home, we got a phone call from the restaurant stating it was our turn. I told the lady we could be taken off the list as the hostess was very rude. Instead of apologizing or explaining the behavior, a hang-up was all I received. I hope others can receive better customer service than we did.

Absolutely amazing food, service and atmosphere. Small, local diner feel that you just can't beat. Huge portions, cooked to order and all done right in front of you. Slower pace due to this; however you won't be disappointed! Been around for 80 years and don't ever see this place going anywhere. If you live nearby, I imagine this would be a staple. I'll be back many times, highly recommend.

Twin cities gem! You really can’t go wrong with anything on the menu—classic old school diner fare. Service is amazing, other customers are amazing and chatty. Great for mingling and starting your day off right with others! Old school, NYC feel to it. Worth the wait and every penny!!

My favorite breakfast spot! The sausage and pancakes are the stars of the show imo. When it’s nice out, they have more seating outside. Today was my first time doing pickup and it was fast and easy. Their estimated pickup time was exactly right! Thank you, Our Kitchen!

Nice little breakfast spot. Busy. Steak was good. Blueberry Pancake was good and large. Eggs Benedict on Fridays only.

Our Kitchen has one of my top 3 favorite eggs benedict meals in the Twin Cities. The hollandaise sauce had just the right amount of lemon flavor and a sloth texture without being too thick or watery. And thank you SO much for offering it in a half size! I can't eat 2 of those in one sitting and eggs benedict is never better reheated. I got my meal quickly and even ate every last hash brown which I never usually do!

Great dine in and takeout service. The staff are very welcoming and kind. My partner and I love their breakfasts and tell everyone we know what a great place this is. Can’t wait to visit during the spring when the weathers nicer and you can walk off the meal you just downed!

It was pretty busy when we went so we sat outside. The breakfast sandwich was very good as was the service. I would go back if in the area.

Our favorite breakfast spot in Minneapolis (besides our own kitchen hehe)! I always get the breakfast platter that includes coffee. The hash browns are the BEST and I love sitting at the counter watching the owner at the griddle. The service is always friendly and I love supporting this small family-owned cafe. We like to walk to Bogarts Donuts afterwards, if we’re not already too full from Our Kitchen!

Perfect diner breakfast. Sausage, egg & cheese on croissant is my favorite. So so so good. Hashbrowns are top notch.
