We have visited this hotel several times, usually visiting their lounge and cafe. We also stayed a few nights at the hotel before. We were hoping to visit the lounge again, this time (a weekday), when we were rudely questioned/interrogated at the entrance. Extremely bizarre and disappointed. We were asked what our purpose of visit was by this doorman... (we explained politely that we were here for the lounge/cafe). He proceeded to explain in a long-winded manner that he cannot be sure that there are any seats so we asked if he could check if there is a sofa seat. He replied saying: "The question is whether there is even a seat, not what type of seat there is." We were extremely taken aback by the rudeness and were confused about all this so stayed silent for him to go inside and check. He disappeared for a while (while we were just standing outside the hotel front entrance!), only to return to tell us to go to the information desk first to enquire about available seats?? Absolutely terrible customer service. We then had to, randomly, wait at the information desk for another man to enquire whether there were any seats, again only for him to say, maybe go to the lounge directly and ask?? It was a complete waste of time. We simply wanted a cup of tea/dessert as always at the lounge and did not expect to have to jump through all these hoops. Worst customer service. It gives the hotel a very bad impression - will not visit again from now on. I would rather save time and spend my money elsewhere.

Ms. Miyajima at the front desk was wonderful. Through small talk she learned that the garden was on my bucket list. She ensured my room had a spectacular view! She also made dinner recommendations and handled my reservation. Service, gardens, food all 10/10. Will return!

This is a very big Japan experience. It is set aside from your usual boutique hotel or modern stays you might find in places like Shibuya or Shinjuku; although this hotel easily accessed those areas if you’re savvy with the train. It’s very traditional in terms of hotel service, and we really liked that about it. Sort of a treasure in time, and really well preserved; with excellent service of the utmost professionalism. Our room was incredibly quiet! The views of Tokyo’s expanse and Shinjuku were lovely to wake up to. I have no complaints, from Japanese toilets or bidet, excellent water pressure, lavish amenities, attentive hotel staff who do not skip a beat. This was a five star Japanese experience, and worth every penny!

I got a king sized bed on the top floor (14). When I was checking in, the outside was quite unimpressive. However, the inside was very classy and made up for it in full. It was quite luxurious and the staff was awesome. The concierge speaks fluent english so communicating was not an issue. The bus stop is 1 minute walk away but the train is a 8 minute trek downhill to Y12 station. I wish they had a service to take you to the station for the price of the hotel I am paying. Nevertheless, it was very good. The staff goes above and beyond. I called the concierge asking if the water from the tap was safe to drink. They told me yes and without me asking, the staff brought hot water to my room.

The room was well appointed, the staff was friendly, and the garden was beautiful. My only complaint is that it’s a 10 to 15 minute walk uphill from the nearest transit station. One of the walking routes takes you up a bunch of stairs and by the time you get there it’s too late to take the other route. So taking bags uphill from the airport was NOT fun.

We stayed here for the last two nights of our honeymoon. The hotel itself was lovely and beautiful. The hotel staff were perfect, excellent service. The gardens were beautiful. I enjoyed the pool and hot tub, but it's unfortunate that it is an additional cost. But I was so disappointed with the service we received at their restaurant, Le Jardin. Part of why I booked this hotel, was I saw they had catered to vegans in the past. In my booking reservation, I made note one guest would be vegan. When I called about making a reservation for high tea, I asked if one could be made vegan, and they apologized and said no. I was disappointed, but understood. When I arrived at the hotel, I thought I would ask the restaurant staff about making a reservation for the next day, and asked if it could be made vegan. The staff told me yes, it could be vegan for two people. I was delighted and made a reservation for the next day. The next night, after we were seated, I asked again to check that the high tea would be vegan. After quite a wait, the staff came back and apologized, no, they could not make it vegan. They showed me another menu which did have some vegan options and I ordered from that. The service was terribly slow. I'm not sure if they had to bring the food from a different restaurant because it was vegan? I also had to ask the staff to clear the table of the dirty dishes. We then wanted to order dessert, and we asked for the vegan menu again. The staff told us, "no vegan menu", but they had already shown us one? Eventually, I was able to order a vegan dessert, and again, slow service and it was just very disappointing, especially after looking forward to it and it being our honeymoon and last night in Japan. Other than the restaurant situation, it was a lovely hotel and the best I've ever stayed in. I was honestly shocked by the restaurant service and it brought me to tears. I saw other guests getting much quicker service, but they were getting the traditional high tea.

Hotel Chinzanso was one of the most incredible hotels I've ever stayed. The sheer attention to detail, care and hospitality the staff provided me and my family was incomparable. Andrew (shoutout, name twin!) was always delighted to assist and provide recommendations in any part of our itinerary, and was delightfully welcomed us back on our return. Of course, the majestic beauty of the gardens, the beautiful views from our room, and the furnishings and comfort were all there. But it was Andrew really who ensured we had a trip that was memorable for life. The trip was a reunion shared between myself and my parents who live on the other side of the world as me, and Hotel Chinzanso encapsulated this bridge which will be a memory in my heart forever. Thank you.

Very nice hotel!! At night the Sea of clouds can be seen in the garden for a limited time. The place in’s a little bit far from the station and we have to walk uphill. Taxi would be better.

unique hotel. very traditional with historical pieces and a very beautiful Japanese garden. went there for a business meeting but you can immediately tell how luxurious the hotel is. ornamented cupboards, Japanese art all over the place and the hotel manager is super friendly and seems as native speaker of english so you will not have any issue..it is also close to the parliament building should you decide to take a walk and very near is the emperor's palace though you cannot see a lot.

This hotel is amazing. They have English speaking staff on hand and the gardens are breathtaking. It's easy to see why over 2000 weddings are held here a year. The food is extremely expensive though and next time I will be eating exclusively off the hotel grounds. However, they have one of the best long island ice teas.

One of the best hotel in Tokyo. This hotel is used to be related to Four Seasons Hotels. Service is good. Restaurants are good. Japanese Garden is very good.

Great service and facilities! This is a scenery taken from the garden view suite and the room is quite big compared to other Japanese hotels. The curtain and rug patterns are a little bit old style but i think that's what they're going for. Breakfast is served with two options: western and japanese. I really recommend taking a walk in the garden at night, truly beautiful.

My husband and I, along with our seven month old daughter, stayed here in July. During an extremely horrible heat wave and as first timers in Japan - our experience staying here made the entire holiday for us! The staff were beyond welcoming and accommodating, and would greet us morning, noon and night personally and took care of every single thing we could have needed. They even made sure we never left without cold water bottles for all of us as we'd head out into the sweltering heat! (One of the concierge's greeting our daughter "Good morning princess (name)!" every morning made her giggle and smile no matter how she'd been before.) The on site facilities were fantastic, the cloud garden was lovely to walk through in the Summer, and we felt very safe, secure and comfortable here for the week we stayed. We are already planning our return when we can!

Very luxurious and comfortable hotel. The Garden is beautiful and the show with the fog is a cool feature. The Rooms are very spacious and very high quality. The Bathroom has a Bathtub and Shower and the Toilette has a separate Room. The Location is quite far away from everything.

Great hotel, spacious rooms, best service ever! I stayed at the Chinzanso Tokyo and it offers by far the best service and most attentive staff I have ever encountered in any of my travels. I have stayed in more luxurious rooms my room at the Chinzanso Tokyo was very spacious * much larger than what you would expect in most cities, especially Tokyo! *, extremely comfortable and had a phenomenal shower and bath. One added luxury is that the hotel has L'Occitane toiletries - which have always been my favorite. And they leave delicious pastries, chocolate and free bottles of water every day. I know we sometimes takes those things for granted but I've stayed at hotels in the U.S. that charged nearly $1,000 a night and still charge for the water and wifi. I highly recommend this hotel. Date of stay: October 2016

The gardens are beautiful and I’m sure this was a fantastic hotel in the 90’s, but the rooms haven’t been updated since. My room definitely smelled like musty cigarettes despite being non-smoking. The size of the rooms feels luxurious but I didn’t want to stay in it because of the smell. Great sized bathroom. The location is inconvenient. Vid rather pay money lo see the so I didn’t have to stay here

Recently had the pleasure of staying at Chinzanso hotel and I must say, the staff’s kindness and attentiveness truly made my experience unforgettable. From the moment I arrived, I was greeted with warm smiles and a genuine willingness to assist. Every interaction with the staff, whether it was the front desk, housekeeping, or the restaurant team, was characterized by their remarkable kindness and helpfulness. They went out of their way to accommodate my requests and ensure my stay was comfortable. Their recommendations for local attractions and dining spots were spot-on, showing their deep knowledge of the area. It’s clear that the staff takes pride in their work and genuinely cares about the well-being of their guests. In short, the impeccable service provided by the staff elevated my stay to a whole new level. I can’t wait to return to this hotel and experience their exceptional hospitality once again.

This is my second time staying in this fine hotel. The room is huge enough to put 2 big luggages on the floor and there is still a lot of space left. The bed is big and comfortable too. I still enjoy the morning walk in the center garden. There are ancient stuffs that they collected; some are even from the 12 century. The new addition Tokyo Sea of Clouds is great. Nice and mystical.

Beautiful and clean hotel. Our suite was next to a staff elevator and unfortunately it was too noisy, so we asked for a different suite, and were offered one with garden view. The garden itself is absolutely stunning, and peaceful to walk through. Though, originally we wanted the city view, the garden view had its own perks. We enjoyed our stay here, and appreciate the quick and helpful approach of the staff.

Went on a Monday night for a celebration with my family for their special "firefly dinner selection" buffet, which included an assortment of Western and Asian food (Japanese and Chinese) and a nice selection of desserts (included a picture of the menu as well). Plus, cocktails, juices, and some welcome alcoholic drinks. We got the non-alcohol dinner plan and enjoyed the selection of food and mocktails. There was also a short cooking flame demonstration (lights turned off) showcasing how they make the orange compote that was part of the dessert bar (used on top of either a scoop of chocolate ice cream or almond sorbet). A bit pricey (~$100/adult, $40 elementary school students), but it was a good experience. The dinner also came with a ticket for entry to the garden, which was a nice walk after a buffet dinner. Unfortunately, not many fireflies out tonight. Still beautiful with the mist and lights in the nighttime.

We did not stay at the Hotel but we did visit it's Gardens. The Gardens are FREE to visit and the staff is nice. They spray the artificial fog every 15 minutes. It looks best at night.

This hotel has an interesting duality where the rooms and the tea service are very western but the outside garden and some of the restaurants are very Japanese. It was enjoyable to explore these two aspects. I loved the bathroom and was very comfortable the whole time. The service was top notch. The garden is unforgettable.

This hotel is one of the best hotels I have had the pleasure to stay at. The staff’s cheerfulness, professionalism and kindness was outstanding. The hotel room was very spacious, immaculate and the view over the city was spectacular. The Japanese garden surrounding the hotel was calming, interesting and a charming addition to the hotel’s splendour. The gym was well-equipped and modern and it was never crowded. Minami (Concierge) was wonderfully knowledgeable and helpful - really fantastic. It is easy to take a short & pleasant walk down the hill to the subway (Edogawabashi Station), where you can buy a daily train pass at minimal cost – getting around the entire city is seamless. This beautiful hotel is highly recommended - its uniqueness will compliment any stay in Tokyo. Thank-you to all the staff for making this such a memorable stay.

We have stayed in a number of 5-star hotels, but the Chinzan-So was undeniably the best. The gardens were a highlight of Tokyo, and it's worth staying a night just for the experience. We will be back!

So much better than any American hotel... really gives an amazing example of quality service! We will be back. They spoke English quite well, very accommodating, and the hotel itself is gorgeous.

Chinzanso is one of the best boutique hotels in Tokyo. It's located within a Japanese Garden that periodically gets flooded with mist, adding an ethereal feeling to walking the grounds and offering a unique stay like no other. While there aren't trains in the immediate area which can be a bit inconvenient, the location is still great and getting to trains isn't a terrible walk. They have several fantastic Japanese and non-Japanese restaurants on the grounds and are also used for things like weddings/banquets, so you may see some local celebrations as well. Would definitely recommend staying if given the opportunity.

Went to have have buffet dinner at the Banquet. Thoroughly enjoyed the hospitality of the staffs. Impressive assortments and spreads on the buffet menu. The place offers mix of Japanese, asian and Italian dishes in the buffet. The highlight has to be the Peking duck and the dessert spread. Beside the dinner, one can enjoy the amazing light & sound show. A great place to go for dinner. Will recommend to everyone for trying it at least once.

The most beautiful luxurious hotel. The grounds were spectacular with a mystical mist that makes you feel like you are back in time. We had a wonderful stay. Food was fantastic!

The hotel is called the Conrad hotel. The hotel boasts amazing views of the city from it's lovely dining and reception areas. However, more than the view, the rooms are spacious and beautifully high tech with automatic curtains, lights , etc etc. The place is well organized and the details are such amazing. From the elevators to the restaurants. What makes this place so amazing? It's simple. The people of Japan are so beautifully classy and professional it's just unreal. The smiles, the service, the great attitudes, the graciousness.. can't get better than this.. so impressive .

An interesting place, great for meetings and conferences. It has two wings/towers - the hotel building and the banquet building. It has some very authentic Japanese restaurants. The highlight is a Japanese garden with mist/fog and beautiful walking tracks. Great for weddings and special photo shoots.

We had a lovely time at the Le Jardin restaurant. It was very relaxing and the view of the garden was fabulous. I highly recommend the sandwich assortment lunch. The teas came in pot service and there were free refills. The only thing that marred our stay was the tobacco smoke in the main lobby and near the taxi stand. The air was almost gray outside with all the wedding guests smoking at once! I hope the hotel takes steps to prevent the smoke from entering common spaces. Right now, the smoking area is located near the entrance and marked out with only with a short fence. I'd recommend a container style area - this will help make sure the smoke does not disturb the serene atmosphere of the hotel.
