Wonderful unique experience. Close to Nungwi beach. There were nonother tourists visiting when we were there so it was more intimate.

Not much to see here. The ruins are not worth visiting and paying for, it is at most 5 minutes activity. The cave looks good but there is trash in the water making the cleanliness of the water questionable. When they ask for entrance they could at least clean the water.

Good history and the tour guide was extremely intriguing.. the cave is so beautiful with small fishing 🎣 swimming. Blue water and carry your swimsuit and sunscreen. The water may be cold . But it's worth the swim. Don't forget to have fun

Great 2 to 3 hours trip for the 2 caves ruins and also the village. Enough to do and see. However to not forget to negotiate the entry price. Only 4 stars because the people in the village were against taking their photos.

We went there almost by accident, it is a remote place, not really popular among tourist, hopefully it'll become soon, because there is a lot of history stored in this place. We visited a genuine village, reflecting the real life of the people that don't live near the beach. Also we were able to walk in ruins of an ancient Portuguese building. Last but not least we swam in a cave... it's not for the faint of heart, because it is deep and narrow with access from both side. If you want to get out of the beaten path, you should try. Shoot out to the young guide working here who still has a lot to learn but who is on his way to become a true professional.

Our visit was a bit of a disappointment. Most pictures provided in Google Maps show not this ruin but the other two palace ruins close to Zanzibar Town. So there is not much to see after all. You will get a tour which is not cheap for 20000 Shilling, including the poor village close by where the guide will ask you for more donations. It felt a bit weird and I wonder how much of the 20000 Shilling will arrive in the hands of the village people? The only thing I liked was the cave close by to swim.

Village tour made me sad as locals are living in the utmost poor conditions. The Portuguese ruins were quite intriguing and the cave absolutely beautiful. Thank you Zanzibar for your hospitality.

Remember to take candies for kids. Cave swimming is superb, ruins are interesting and the village is good experience. Ask for myfriend Ali Hassan as a tourguid. +255 621 990 558 is former teacher and takes a good care of tourists

Small site, worth a stop if you're in the area. The cave is behind the ruins, you can jump in the pool

Small ruins of unknown origin (probably not Portuguese). Nice water cave with swimming possibility - something like Mexican cenotes.

Interesting portugese ruins and cave where you can swim in totally clear water. Important thing - nobody there!

For 20k TSh, a guide took us around the village and explained the local life, the herbal medicines, and the large trees (mango and baobap). Remember to bring some gifts for the villagers, or cash if you forget. Then, he showed us the ruins from Portuguese traders/invaders. Lastly, there was cave swimming. The water is deep; there are no shallow sections. Hence, only recommended for good swimmers.
