A great hike after visiting karjstan castle. 11mile round trip mostly marked and on nice trails. The view of america quarry was like a film. You can even swim there.

Velká Amerika (Big America, Czech Grand Canyon) is a partly flooded, abandoned limestone quarry near Mořina village, in the Central Bohemian Region of the Czech Republic (in Beroun District). It is 800 metres long, 200 metres wide and 80 to 100 metres deep with an 18-metre deep lake on the bottom. Mining of the limestone was conducted in the first half of the 20th century. There are other quarries nearby, one of those is Malá Amerika (Small America) about 1.3 km to the west. The quarries are connected with each other by long tunnels. The place has several times been used by Czech filmmakers. The place is sought after by professional divers and also popular stop for tourists visiting Karlštejn Castle.

I think it's a bit overhyped. The canyon is quite small and some of the trails are really raising your adrenaline level. It's a nice stop on the way to Karlstein or Prague, otherwise there is not much to do there. I would not recommend planning a trip only to this place.

Lots of unavoidable mud after rain! Take good hiking shoes or worst shoes for the last trip. Views are nice too. Few legitimate spots to view the area. Dont forget to visit smaller excavation site as it is really close. Parking is wild wild west.

This place is beautiful, the nature, the landscape... everything was wonderful, it is too bad that we couldn't go down but it was a good experience, it was worth to discover it! We went there by bus and it was a bit difficult to find this place, there is a bus every 30 minutes/1 hour if I remember well, and we walked about 30 minutes to get to this place.

Amazing place, looks astonishing! The routes could be a little more clear, but it doesn't matter if you just want to hike and look around.

great please, we took a hive around the canyon, like many other people, no one bothered us for trespassing. We have seen some mine workers dumping stones close to us and they had also no problem with us looking at beautiful views.

As I heard about this place many times my expectation of it was probably much bigger than this place could offer. If you want to really see something you have to break several rules (such as going over the metal ropes through the scrubs to get close to the edge of the quarry. To get to the bottom is the same. Needs to have permission from the prived owner or again break a rule.

It's a beautiful place but not worth a full day. You can just stop there for a break on the way to Karlštejn or else. The parking is very small and not practicable (same way for entrance and exit). We had to park on the side of the road. You can go round the quarry on a trail which doesn't always allow a view of the inside except if you took the forbidden path which goes on the edge. I found the quarry Mexico, which is behind much more attractive and stunning since it's full of vegetation.

Perfect destination for hiking lovers! It was rewarding to see this place after walking all the way from Karlstejn. Just don’t go on a rainy day, a little advice 😅

It was a good journey experiencing greenness and the countryside, an hour away from Prague. The whole area is neither too big nor too small. It took me only 30 minutes to finish the trail.

Great place for a long hiking walk. The way isn't hard but the view is outstanding. Can be overcrowded during the hot summer days, for the same reason sometimes it is hard to find a place to park a car

Not too exciting. Better come on the afternoon, when the sun lights up the lakes. Sadly there is not really a way down. But for a nice 1-2h stroll well suited.

Beautiful blue water. From the parking lot, there is a well defined route. A few photo spots - can be a bit risky getting towards the edge!

It’s a cool place to visit when you visit Karlstejn via car (10mins away). I dare not to walk down unlike others. So, then to me -> it js a rather short trip… I never walked all around, just to some parts. Now in winter there are some borders to keep you away and safe -> which I appreciate, however, some people are ignoring it for a pic… safety first!!!

Nice place. There are two queries actually. A lot of warning signs but nobody cares and cross the line to make a good photo. Seems safe but you never know. Small parking lot, but we found out that there is a one more parking with free spots litter deeper.
