I just arrived from out of town, I stopped here after 3 hour nonstop drive to get dinner. This was my first ever experience with Steak N Shake and it had such potential. I waited in line to place my order, then another 10 minutes on the car in front of me to get their food. I finally get mine and make the short drive back to my hotel and before getting out of the car, I tried one of the fries...it was cold a flavorless, like eating packing peanuts...but whatever I'm hungry so I move on to my "Frisco melt". It wasn't cut in half and was barely warm. I got the large combo and a small shake....so I dig out my straw which won't reach the bottom of my large drink (it's in my cup in the picture but you wouldn't know it), which sadly was the best part of my whole meal, because it had that good carbonated burn to it. Then after scarfing down my cold melt (because I'm starving) I quickly move on to my milkshake...what a joke. It was as if it didn't even contain ice cream at all, just this weird soupy mix of something with cool whip and broken Kit Kats on top. It certainly wasn't worth the $12.ish I spent or the gas to drive over there. Maybe the night shift was having a bad day, I hope because I don't know how they're still in business otherwise. 😔 All of this is literally going to be thrown away because it isn't fit to eat.

Second time coming in a while. First time burger was burnt not good. Thought I would give a second chance. Total mistake. This place isn't like it was before the pandemic. Burger this time patties so small and crispy. Fries not correct size. Ordered a large gave me small size fries. Had to correct her on the drink size she tried to give me a small as well. VERY DISAPPOINTING. won't be back after this.

I used to love this place. But seems these days they hire anyone. This is the second time I've ended up with Angela. I've been kind to her both occasions. But to be truthful. I would love if I never have her as a waitress again. Her attitude just ruins your meal.

Erica W. was our waitress. She was pleasant and served us with a warm, welcomed smile. Enjoyed her sample milkshake as well! Keep up the great work.

This was a great lunch. They modeled the store with a retro diner feel that is very comfortable. The food was spot on. I had the spicy steak burger with fires and a shake. All done really well. The fries are cut ultra thin, almost like potatoes sticks. Which I really enjoyed. Definately would go back again.

The food was great, prices were more than fair, restaurant was clean, and our waitress was excellent!

We dined in at Steak and Shake. The service was excellent, with a very friendly and attentive server. The food is always perfect! They have a large selection of delicious shakes. We try to go during Happy Hour, when steaks and drinks are half price. That is Mon-Fri from 2-4 pm.

Update July 2023 - Got the banana milk shake this time. Really good! Tried the onion rings - WOW I like them! Really tasty burgers, shakes and fries. Servers are always friendly. Prices are reasonable. Why 4 stars? I think the size of the burgers have gotten smaller. Service was good. My grandson likes the hat and toys.

I love to go too steak n shake, there is not other place here on Mobile Alabama that can beat their milk shakes. Every time I got in I have too have a milk shake, but also their food is good as well, most of the time they have good waitresses and they are always friendly, but if there is ever any problems they address them immediatelyimmediately. The best thing is I never have too wait long on my food after I order it.

Service was abysmal! Our service disappeared for the entirety of our meal never checking in on us once after bringing the food. They apologize after waiting an additional 10 minimum after finishing for them to come with the bill. When walking up to cash out we stood there for 5 minutes waiting for one of the 5 employees just standing around talking and drinking milkshakes, they just stared at us. I’ve come to this Steak ‘n Shake many times but this was the worst service I have ever received and I’m not one to review but this was terrible.

The server was nice but the whole place is just filthy! The floor was brown and sticky, the ceiling had mold all over it and the walls were caked with gunk. The prices were good for a family though.

The staff and service were great. The food was not as good as my wife remembered it being the last time she was here, but that happens. Kids' menu meals included the girl's drink, adults menu separates the beverage, plates include the side of shoestring fries. Milkshakes are awesome and have special flavors and you can do side-by-side milkshakes of two flavors if you ask very nicely, like strawberry -banana or chocolate and anything.

Great place to get a fast bite, their melts are some of the best and their shakes are great too. You really can't beat the price, talk about bang for your buck. They have onion rings and skinny fries that most people love!!! Also dining in, you will enjoy a nice 50's theme.

The food was amazing! I had the classic steak burger with fries and it was delicious. The service wasn’t as good as usual :( The music was nice and the restaurant is very kid-friendly!

I went here for a little lunch with my family, and we were greeted and seated in a timely manner , once seated our waitress was great very professional had a great memory , she made sure we had everything we needed. I must say the food was fresh and good. I had got the bacon double stack burger combo and wow was it delicious 🤤, my baby got her a cheeseburger burger and she ate it all so yes, Y’all must go check them out .

Wish I could do 0 stars. Worst place ever. 2 time within a week. You get sat and order food and drinks when they feel like coming back to your table to take your order. Was on 2 other tables of people here. They sit around and talk to each other the whole time. You order a burger and say no onion no pickle and you either only get meat or you get everything in clouding onions and pickles. I ordered a water with my milk shake and still have yet to see my water. This is stupid. Thought I’d give them a second chance. Won’t ever be back again.

Steak N Shake used to one of the places that I always recommended to people, but now all I recommend is not wasting your money there. I keep hoping that every time I went back, it would get better. But, since 2020, I just keep getting let down. My husband pick us up some food tonight, and I ordered what I always get. A Cajun fry, with a Cajun burger. It seemed as if they did one shake in the middle of the fries, and hoped for the best. I ended up just adding some seasoning I had at home. Also, there is barley any Cajun sauce on my burger. When I first started getting this burger (years ago), they would put so much sauce, it was dripping off. I understand times are hard right now, but why is it that you get to go up on your prices, but slack off where it matters? I really hate to post this, but I will not be going back and wasting my money… Again.

We stopped by to pick up a snack for the girls. They had been craving milkshakes all day. We ordered two milkshakes and a small soda. There were two cars ahead of us and we waited for about 10 minutes to get to the window. When I got to the window the staff member was confused as to what I ordered but finally located it. Then the soda was the size of a kids soda even though I ordered a small. We received no napkins and the straws for the shakes were so thin the girls couldn’t even drink the shakes. Luckily they were given spoons, so it wasn’t the end of the world.

Imagine if your favorite hibachi breakfast place served burgers like a good burger place that has seasoned fries.

Erica is AMAZING!!! My son and I attempted to go through the drive thru but quickly realized we needed to walk in. I'm so glad we did! We watched this one employee going above and beyond for most everyone in the restaurant, customers and co-workers. In a time where it is hard to find staff and especially "hard-working" individuals, Erica's passion to ensure everyone had a great experience, was very heart-warming! Erica had a big smile and warm greeting for everyone who walked in, she was attentive to other's needs, observant (noticed a handicap individual needed a table closest to the door and seated them right away), and hustled the whole time we were there. I was very impressed with her work ethic and enthusiasm to make each customer's experience - a positive one! I wish I had the pleasure of meeting more individuals like her, especially in the food industry! My son and I appreciate you, Erica!

I loved this steak-n-shake. Our server was extremely nice. Maybe even too nice. But she said we had good energy and gave each member of my family a protection stone. Which normally would have made me very uncomfortable but was somehow just nice. And the food was very good
