Very good as a learning experience for kids and adults. Fun times with the grandkids and family. Recommend highly 🇺🇲💞😯

Definitely bring the kids.... or anyone who enjoys fun learning about Mobile Gulf. They also explore the history and development of the entire Gulf region from initial inhabitants to the Spanish, French and modern day shipping, fishing and environmental topics. Lots of hands-on displays in a remarkable setting!

A few people said it was geared towards kids and wasn't great for adults, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. There were a number of displays not working so admission was half off which even at full price is a bargain. I was tickled by the trivia knowledge bits that are glued to the hand rails, some of them were things I did not know. I was thrilled to learn that container shipping was invented in Mobile. I would like to see more of that discussed or exhibited in the museum. Also I would like to see more on shipwrecks, the exhibits they had really piqued my interest. There are 2 areas where you can drive boats in tanks and I don't care how old you are sitting down to control one makes one giddy like a child. Good fun. There was a room all about oil and gas in the Gulf and that was fascinating! The traveling Bob Hope exhibit was cool! I enjoyed the museum and would recommend it.

Wonderful museum dedicated to life on the gulf. You walk through displays on a simulated cargo ship. You can even steer the ship on a virtual navigation display. View of the Mobile Bay, cruise ship dock, ship building area and ship traffic on the Mobile River. Also a great view of downtown Mobile.

This a fantastic museum and educational experience. So many hands-on exhibits it puts most children's museums to shame. But this isn't just for kids, adults will learn lots too from the multiple exhibits. It gives a great view of the past, present, and future of Mobile and the area's shipping industry. Great fun for all ages, leave plenty of time to explore this (ship-shaped) museum.

It’s a comprehensive 5 decks (floors) museum that covers a variety of topics related to maritime. It also covers the history of Mobile area as well as provides information regarding Gulf Coast in general. There are plenty of exhibits for people of different ages including interactive exhibits for children. The cost of admission is only $10. I also enjoyed panoramic views of the city and Mobile Bay.

Really well done museum. Informative movies and displays that were entertaining and educational. We spent a little over three hours but I could see spending as little as an hour and a half or as much as five. The interactive things were a lot of fun, but several things were not working.

Easy to get to. Great parking. Ramps and elevators to reach the levels. Had a great variety of interactive stations. Sadly, several were not working. The ones that were working were a lot of fun. They have a great children's area. The docents were friendly and very knowledgeable. They have a volunteer docent, named Fred, who was a true pleasure to talk with. We actually stayed here all day and enjoyed our time. Their Coast Guard art exhibit was well put together.

Very disappointing. Likely ok for the 4-8 crowd, although they won't read the placards. Little to no real objects. Signs a museum does not make. A few hands-on exhibits, most of which weren't working. The various travel sites said there was a restaurant. (One even referanced an imax theater... not). It is shut down (too bad the outside tables were about the only access to balcony at each level which had doors, but all were posted no access). Finally, staff was practically non-existent. A maintenance guy had to go find us someone to sell us tickets. There was no one at all for gift shop which did not even have postcards. My guess was all the funds were spent on the impressive building, and with covid, there was no endowment. It's really sad that it could have been spectacular Below pics were looking out at the water.

Grandson says, "Give it a 5, because it's FUN!". No crowds and half price tickets right now because some exhibits with certain technologies are not working. WIN, WIN for us because there was still tons of great interactive exhibits. We had a great time!

There is a lot of stuff to see here. They do a good job of covering all ages as well. My 5 and 2 year old had fun. My wife and I felt like we learned a lot as well. They have interactive exhibits as well as displays and videos to watch. We really enjoyed our visit.

This is such a wonderful place to go. It has interactive activities for the kids. Beautiful views and the event I went to was very informative. I would love to see them bring something in on dinosaurs, sharks, or even the holocaust. There is a lot of space that could be utilized and make so much more fun. Just call ahead and make sure there are no field trips attending that day. That is the only thing that makes it hard for individuals to enjoy. It is a wonderful opportunity for the kiddos from school, and they need to see it, but individuals may have a harder time getting to see anything when the schools are there.

Wow, well worth the time. Very good displays, films, loved the nautical slogans along the ramps. Plus, a huge ship was parked at the cruise ship dock to see! Learned new things about ship building at mobile, and the German sub in the Gulf of Mexico! Lovely staff. We went Sept. 23 2023 and it was virtually empty.

Wonderful experience with interactive stations that were both informative and fun. For example, simulations driving boats in the harbor, experiencing winds blowing you about in the crows nest, and feeling the ship shuttering as it sinks to the bottom of the sea. Plan on a couple of hours at least. Staff friendly and helpful.

This is a fantastic museum! Very interactive and appeals to all ages (we had grandparents and young children). Fred did a wonderful job giving us a tour of the Mobile harbor - he has an amazing wealth of knowledge of the ships and the harbor’s history - all shared while our sons were “driving” a boat on the simulation screen. The staff was very helpful and friendly. Be sure to plan for at least 2 hours!

Wonderful place to take your kids! There is so much history on the city of Mobile.

I loved this place! Everything is interactive. There's a HUGE replica of a container ship. Kids will love it and adults will love it just as much! I don't know why it wasn't crowded, but glad it wasn't when we went!

Family friendly and so much for you to learn! Plan to spend a few hours here and take your time exploring. The movies and short films shattered throughout the museum are definitely worth watching. Stop and read the quotes posted on the rails. I was amazed at all of the sayings that have a nautical origin. I really enjoyed my visit.

If you're looking for a fun place to take your family and discover interesting facts on local history and our shipping industry, this is the place to go. You can also get some amazing views of downtown Mobile.

Interesting interactive exhibits related to the Gulf of Mexico for all ages. One of the best maintained and interesting museums you'll ever visit.

I wish I could give it a better rating. It is a nice interactive museum but many of the attractions were not available or not working. The first theater has horrible screens and we left 3 min into the film. I think the projectors are the problem. I didn’t even get to watch the other films. There is a lot of hands on stuff which is nice for kids. I did find the ship simulator at the top deck pretty immersive and it was very complicated for little ones. Lots of controls and commands. Overall though it was very affordable and took about 2 hours to go though even with 3 kids. I think it has great potential and serves a great purpose. Happy overall I went.

Very interesting and worth a visit. Kids enjoyed it and the price is not to bad.

Wonderful and hands-on for the children and adults, too. This museum is so full of information from ships to storm paths. If you plan on visiting before June 2023, definitely check out the Spirit of the Passage exhibit. The lady at the front desk, Deanna (may not be the correct spelling), was very very helpful, informative, and sweet.

Museum was cool, staff was not. We were forced to leave the museum as there was no place to eat lunch. By the time we left, had lunch and came back we only had enough time to see the last floor… which was what we had come back for. Staff made it abundantly clear that we were not welcome. As they closed at 3:57. Elevators were shut down so my elderly parents had to walk to the top floor, by the time we arrived up there we had missed the simulator ride by 2 minutes- which was what we had come back for and would have made with ample time had the elevators been available. The museum itself was really cool with tons of stuff to see/do/learn. With the lunch spot closed it was super inconvenient to see and explore it all. I was super disappointed that staff made us feel so unwelcome as well. Wish it had been a different experience with the staff as the museum itself contains so much valuable history. Sadly, would not recommend out because customer service is very important to experience and that’s not had here. (We visited on a Friday).

It was OK. Probably not the best for kids under 5th grade. Nearly each exhibit requires a plethora of reading. The boat simulator was a hot though.
