This store has one thing going for it… the prices. That’s about it. I always feel like the roof is going to cave in, literally. Everything is so dirty. Looks like a couple decades since someone cleaned the front windows and doors. Every direction you turn is a safety hazard. Hoses and buckets laying in walking paths. The customer service and lack of knowledge of staff is poor which really explains the appearance of their tanks. I feel bad for the fish. Looks like the center row they have finally done some tank maintenance but I wouldn’t buy a single fish from this place for fear of them being sick and contaminating my tank. Sucks because other than Pet Co no other store in Modesto sells Marine Life. I’ll drive to Sac first.

Jackie and Tim are so knowledgeable. Any questions I have they know the answer. I'm thankful that they're so close. They were able to test my water for free to make sure everything is okay with my fish water. Man such great customer service and a huge variety of fish to pick from. Glad I found this hidden gem!

Modesto staple! Myself and my 13y/o sidekick, E.S.A. dog, Gomer, go to Tropical Haven for our saltwater fishtanks. But mostly to harass the wonderful staff we've come to know and love! Gomer is treated like royalty, and they put my head on straight when I get twisted from being a beginner aquarist! I honestly can't say enough about how welcoming, helpful, knowledgeable, and caring the staff is! Marie, Jackie, Tim, Saiere (Sorry, my man, i know i flubbed the spelling)... Thank you!!

This place is fantastic! Excellent assortment of all types of fish. The staff there are great, knowledgeable, and extremely helpful. Definitely will return there and recommend this place to anyone.

Loved it here best prices and great selection. Jacqueline was very helpful and very knowledgeable. We bought a lot things for my pet turtles and loved how she made us comfortable and explained things. She is definitely management material. I will only come here for now. This fish palace has three aisles of floor to ceiling tanks with fish ranging from babies to older fish, as well as more rare fish like long finned tetras (see video). Not to mention, the staff are really nice. Lovely place to visit, great fish, and plenty of tank materials in stock

My first time at tropical haven. The service is great didn't have any issues. They have a wide selection of fish from salt water to fresh. The employees are really laid back and chill. I didn't have any issues with tropical haven

Tropical haven is a cool place to be. I grew up going there and know all the employees names and the owners name. The owner has even taken me and my father fishing several times. This place is highly reliable and I teccommend going there 👍

My gf and I were having issues keeping fish alive in our fish tank. She tried everything, so we took a sample of water in and asked for advice how to fix the pH. The lady that helped us had an impressive amount of knowledge about fish tanks. She recommended some products an.d tips to fix the issue. We weren't able to get any fish due to the pH issue, but certainly will get them there once our tank is stable. *for those mentioning that the fish area is dirty with dead fish must only go to high end pet stores. Dead fish are going to happen. It's an aquarium, not a restaurant. This is the best place to go for fish and aquarium products. Thank you for all of your help!

Older Caucasian lady very rude, much attitude for no reason. When I first walked in, she looked me up and down, as if I didn’t belong here. She was the only worker that I seen And all I asked was for her, to help me on the pricing of small mealworms for my bearded dragon And that was so hard for her to do. Other people may have had better experience at this business, but I no longer will step foot back inside

Incredible selection of fresh and salt water fish. Not everything you see is for sale. Some of the fish are the owners and not for sale. Service can be slow when shopping for fish if multiple people are looking to buy at the same time. Lots to choose from, but you must be patient if you are coming here.

Don't think they really wanted to help and sell me fish. Only got 2 Cory's sadden no fish in my tank except one. Need to know what to get

Rude, not helpful older lady working there. Gave my daughter a hard time while she was in the store. I called to talk with manager who is “out of town” for two weeks. So I spoke with the older lady , she was rude to me as well and when she didn’t like what I said, hung up on me. Never going there again!!!
