The place is very relaxing and tranquil, and a nice getaway. There were however a few things that were just not up to standard, bearing in mind that I understand that covid has had a major impact on hospitality establiahments. The windows in the 2nd bedroom were cracked, the window in the lounge at the top was cracked. The room did not have a can opener, nor was there an inventory list. Reception failed to advise us that the walking trails were closed upon arrival, we only found out from a notice posted on a board. The resort is also more than 40km away from the nearest petrol station, when we arrived we were not sure that we could make it. No one at the resort was willing at all to even remotely assist us with this, even trying to debate whether or not we had enough fuel to get to the petrol station. The next day no one even bothered to ask us if we had made a plan. This is a game park, their game vehicle broke down, with no back up. The walking trails were closed, so none of the major activities were available at the lodge. The service at reception was not friendly, not helpful and not pleasant. Going forward unless the resort sorts out their service issues as well as their activities, I will not be returning to this place. The resort also has a convenience store that is extremely overpriced.

Lovely setting with the mountain on the one side and two dams on the property. The units are spacious and well maintained. Various activities are available. Well marked trails up the mountain with spectacular views, game drives and canoeing. The shop and restaurant were slightly disappointing. The shop didn't display any prices on any item and the restaurant was rather pricy. Overall, as a resort, it is worth a visit.

A great break away from the city! The resort was quiet and tranquil The staff are friendly and welcoming. We enjoyed the game drive and kayaking the most. Our chalet was however not cleaned during our stay which was somewhat of a let down. The shop for essentials is very overpriced, so take as much as you need before you go. Overall a good 3+ star resort.

So let's start with the good. The location is beautiful with lots of opportunities for nice walks, the game drive was really nice albeit a bit expensive for what game is available to see but the lady game ranger was knowledgeable and good with kids questions etc. The kid's play area had nice equipment and well maintained. Now onto the not good. The master bedroom bed is like like sleeping on the ground it's so hard. When we asked if there was a replacement mattress the lady that responded to reception over the radio was very unhelpful and disinterested about helping. The window in our bedroom didn't seal properly, so much so that you could see through the gap. This made our room freezing cold. The doors in bedroom's and bathrooms were all swollen and had holes in them. Overall a disappointing stay. Didn't get that feeling that one should when on holiday. We decided to leave a day early so we could actually get some sleep and rest. Other noticeable issues. No cell phone reception absolutely nothing. Wifi barely works and only at reception but unusable.See the pictures and see what I mean.

This was our 2nd visit to the resort. The tranquility was inspiring, nature beautiful as always. Doc who took us on Wild drive was well informed on wild life. What I did miss was that the shop did not have eggs for sale. The units are well equipped but I missed a plunger for coffee. All in all however a very good experience, rain and all..

My wife and myself visit a lot of places this year and Waterberg game park was definitely the best place to stay. The bush area gave as the opportunity to relaxed and enjoy nature and Waterberg is on our list for a visit next year. Nice personal. We love the place.

This place is very quiet. They have a few dams 3 or 4 small buck. A lot of warthogs. They have rare game but you need to pay to see them. They have a lovely look outpoint you need to do a 5 km hike to see it. Restaurant area is immaculate. It's a rather long walk to the entertainment area from the rooms. You can drive. Parking at the entertainment area is very muddy if it rains. Food is very nice. Prices are good at the restaurant. The shop has very little items and is rather expensive. Accept for not having animals walking around. I give this place 5 stars. Please note cellphone reception is almost non existent. So do not come here if you glued to your phone.

Off the grid gem. We had such a great time here. I can’t even get enough of the place, look like we have found a place to drive to every year, it is worth visiting . They have couple of activities including kayaking, jumping pillow , slides, Game drive, restaurant , tennis , chess, fishing , beautiful walk way. Braai area etc . I found the place affordable we paid R1 149 pn for a 1 bedroom apartment with a patio during the week. During heavy rainy days a vehicle with higher clearance might be recommended, there’s a 20 min gravel road passing through a river .

We were booked at Waterberg for a week. Beautiful resort with lovely amenities. My daughter enjoyed the play area especially the jumping pillow. The units are beautiful and spacious. The biggest dissapointment for me was the lack of cellphone reception at the units. It was highly frustratiing to have to go all the way to the bar just to be able to use your cellphone. Please do something about this issue or else people will be sceptical about coming to your resort and that would be a shame.

I been to almost all the ptovinces you own these places but this one was the worst I have visted. The road to the place is horrible to drive. You arrived at the place, there is no network. Literally cut out from the rest of the country. Otherwise, the place is good as well as their staff. Personally, Iwould not visit the again unless they improve the road and network. Neither I would recommend the places to my associates.

Beautiful location, game drives, activities, relaxing and with a lot of game animals, you are in for a treat. A fair warning, try to prepare your vehicle for a nice 11KM dirt road with rough patches. But all in all, a perfect place for a vacation. Excellent service all over.

Beautiful surroundings! Dams with flowering waterlilies a delight. Watch out for the monkeys, really cheeky. The walks could be better marked and maintained but still pleasant. Our facility with a dipping pool was a bonus! Bedrooms very comfortable. Kitchen layout a bit cramped and working area restricted. Well serviced. Staff helpful and pleasant.

Beautifully maintained and well managed game park. The chalets are spacious and comfortable with fully equipped kitchen. The restaurant serves reasonable no frills meals. The game drive was very informative and offered close up experiences. I will go back.

Our visit to the Game Park was absolutely amazing. The facilities were beautiful and well maintained. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. We are already planning our next holiday there.

Just visited your reserver, don't think it's great to be greeted by a holiday club salesman as you arrive (REALLY GUYS) How unprofessional is that . Anyway room was awesome and clean . Pity about the terrible mattress that was supposed to be replaced. Staff at the room really friendly . Nice and tranquil and quiet . The entire resort very well maintained. Game drive was awesome, young lady was very knowledgeable and had a great sense of humor. Don't think the part about the taxidermist and price on hunting animals was necessary at all . But saying that she meant well. The part that really let you down is your lack of service at the Restaurant/ bar. We pretty much helped ourselves and had to run to the bar for service. (CRAZY) . Overall liked the stay , not much to do at all but relaxing indeed. Sadly I will not put that on a bucket list, and thanks to the staff that were helpful.

The overall look and feel of the place was nice but to return home and find that some of our food items had been taken (eg a full container of corn flakes now only half, sponge disappeared on the first day after cleaning, and who knows what else) leaves a sour taste about the whole experience. We found a blood stain on our sheets the first night there and these sheets were never changed during our stay of 5 days. The floors were not mopped during the week either. Bottles for hand soap and shower gel are reused but have grime on the top of it. Very gross. Whilst I understand that the resort is in the middle of bushveld, it would have been appreciated to have advance notice about the lack of signal.

The game park is a fun and wonderful experience. There's lots of activities to do and so much wildlife to see. Rooms are warm and comfortable. Great service from the staff. Great location to escape from the busy daily life. It's a great place and worth recommending to experience the great outdoors.

So refreshing to be here. You really quiet out there far from busy places. Network is only available around the office for those important things one wants to do. It’s a real breakaway place enjoying natural sites and animals without distractions from social media. I enjoyed it.

Rooms: Bring a WiFi extender… The chalets need better cleaning. They’re spacious and private. If you’re going during peak season, it’s best to book a chalet with a plunge pool, the pool area doesn’t cater for enough people. Activities: There's plenty of activities for kids. Rare game experience is special but definitely not worth the price. Restaurant: The staff is friendly. The food is below average unfortunately.

This is a very peaceful resort. The views are great and perfect for a relaxing holiday. If you’re traveling from Johannesburg, it is quite a far drive and the dirt road is very intense so come prepared but overall such a lovely place. The houses look very modern and updated and are very spacious especially for big families. They have a small dam where you can kayak/ Canoe in which is really fun!

This place is bang for buck. We have 2 small Children and it’s some time difficult to find a resort that also offer plenty of accommodation space as we have to cart a lot of extras for the little ones. Waterberg game park has all the kids entertainment you need all modern and well kept. The Accommodation is all well kept and modern and spacious beds are comfortable and air conditioned. Beautiful view of the l Mountain Cliff face. Birdwatchers dream lovely hike up the mountain and stunning views. An absolute must if you have kids. Or if you just want some peace.

We had a wonderful stay at the Resort and the place was absolutely nice. The villa was clean, the staff was helpful, the place was well kept. We stayed for the week and by the end of the week it almost felt like, all guests and staff we were all family. This place is perfect if you love the outdoors and you want to be away from the hustle and bustle, great to reconnect with your loved ones. There is no network on the resort apart from the bar & restaurant, I think this was done intentionally so a person to be one with nature, reconnect, interact with family and friends. I would just like to suggest to management to come up with mid-week activities that can be done like "Karaoke Night, Movie Night, Games Night and etc... I however enjoyed the Braai Night they had that was great 👍. I enjoyed the numerous activities the resort had to offer, the hiking trail, tannis court, pool area, games room for kids, putty n play, Rare game experience and Kayaking. Overall my family and I were delighted with our stay and we would definitely do it again.

This is a beautiful resort. The accommodations are very nice and neat. The facilities are awesome and the food at the restaurant is top notch. There are some beautiful bird species to hear and see, and the monkeys, baboons, warthogs and bushbuck walk around freely in the resort. We had a wonderful stay. If you read this review while deciding to go there, there are two things to consider. The shop at the resort is INSANELY expensive. Things cost about double what you pay for them in a normal store. Yes...double. Alcohol at the bar is also very pricey. So make sure you take everything you need with you, or be prepared to pay through your ears. The other thing that a warning might have been good when we went is the fact that there is no cellphone reception, and if you need to use the wifi, you need to go to reception or the bar, and even then, the internet is extremely slow. So if you have to work, you may want to make arrangements.

My new favorite bush getaway 💕. The rooms are specious, well maintained and comfortable🏡. There's everything for everyone: gaming rooms, game drives, hiking trails, sports facilities with free equipment, and, and, and... I just love this place

Really worth a visit. All the units are beautifully upgraded and serviced daily. Some exotic game on farm that some people disagree with, but game drives still enjoyable. Good restaurant facilities with super friendly staff. The drive there from Pretoria is short (2.5 hours) with interesting places to eat and view. We had a very relaxing time and would go back for sure.

Very tranquil stay in a remote location. Some wild animals roaming free right around your unit. Hiking trails, cycling trails and kayaking for the adventurers. Plenty entertainment for the kids as well while parents can sit and sip coffee on the deck at the Thirsty Warthog. Very tasty food at the restaurant.

A really great get away for family. Play areas to keep the kids busy while the adults have a drink at the bar or restaurant. Lots of activities for you to do. Personally I love the Mini Golf and the Tennis the best. The pool has a slide which makes swimming extra fun for kids and adults.

Definitely an amazing get away !!! Went with my cousins for a weekend away and we really had alot of fun !! It's a great place to get away from the city. One of the issues we had was reception and internet, i was on mtn had managed to get edge and most of the time I had no network where we stayed, my cousins, who are on other networks had nothing, you may be lucky to get an okay connection in certain areas. The main area where the bar and pool is, there is wifi provided there and the staff we had there were extremely friendly and very welcoming!! The unit we stayed in was very well kept and in the mornings we got to see a few doe and warthog. There is kayaking, hiking, mini golf, tennis, chess and a pool with a slide! I'd highly recommend this place and it's a very nice getaway from the busy city.

This is one of my favourite bushveld destinations in South Africa. If you have to get away from the daily rush and enjoy nature, you are going to enjoy this place. It is so quiet that one can hear your own heartbeat. I personally would just like to have good cellphone coverage

Accommodation: 5/5 Condition of facilities: 3/5 - My husband and I walked every morning and found a lot of litter. We also saw some of the antelope chewing on a plastic bag which was quite sad. Kid friendliness: 5/5 Service: 3/5 - Slow, unhelpful, had to remind the staff of our requests as they would forget. Had to be sent to bar area if you wanted to pay for something at the shop. Shop was mostly closed because staff were always in the kitchen. Cleaning staff would shout to each other between chalets in the morning and on the back of the service bakkies which was unpleasant. Restaurant: 2/5 - under staffed. Waited over an hour for our breakfast the one morning when there were only 2 other tables to serve(it was around 9am). Food was always brought cold. Staff seemed inexperienced. Tables weren't cleared so there were dirty dishes on a lot of tables and we always had to request condiments, salt&pepper, utensils, serviettes etc. Menu is very limited and doesn't offer options for those with dietary requirements. Shop: 2/5 - Poorly stocked. They've spread out the sweets and chocs to try fill up the shelves. Nothing helpful in the store except charcoal and firelighters (no necessities, no food items except chips chocs sweets, no basic first aid, almost no toiletries etc). If you forget something, be prepared to travel to nearest supermarket which is +25km away.

It was quite relaxing. I enjoyed it a lot. The most amazing thing for me was the game drive. That was the best game drive for me. I learnt so much from this game drive. This encouraged me more to become a game ranger. I would like to thank Karmen the driver and the instructor of the game drive for such a wonderful time and wonderful experience. This very educational. My family and I really appreciate it. I would definitely recommend this to other people.

The shop has almost nothing in stock has to drive to vaalwater every second day. No ice, ice-cream or wood. Restaurant alm nothing in stock and what they have takes forever to get to you. Cleaning ladies don't clean properly. Game drive was good and accommodation is comfortable. But rest of the resort seriously need to step up.

Hands down one of the best game parks I have been to. From the gate as you enter, to the Thirsty Warthog as you relax and unwind, it is just smiling faces and wonderful conversations. Irene, Silas, Rebecca a.k.a Nan 😊, Jerry and not forgetting Popie (my partner's new bestie), I thank each and everyone of you (including the others I forget their name, please forgive me 🙏🏾), you made the week feel like a couple hours with all the fun and laughter shared. The upgraded chalets are marvelous and took the term home away from home to the next level. I have many great things to say, but all I can say for now is see you next year 😉

    1. Be prepared to travel about 12km gravel though it's a smooth gravel. 2. Network is a challenge in the rooms but there are hotspots for coverage. Unit K10 we had off/on coverage outside the house for both network and WhatsApp calls

Gravel road for 7km to get to the lodge. Did a game drive (paid for) in the morning, it was beautiful scenery. Staff was welcoming and pleasant. I didn't try WiFi but they had it available. Food was amazing, they cater very well for vegetarians and vegan. Rooms were clean. Be sure to bring mosquito repellent. Pool is well kept. No daily room service so take note. Large playing areas and many areas for picnics or sitting outside with friends and family.

  • 4/5 Marie Du T. 1 year ago on Google
The gravel road is very bad. The chalets are good. We knew upfront it is self catering. We planned to have dinner at restaurant every evening, but found that many of the items on the menu was not available, otherwise the food served is good. The shop was without ice-cream all the time.

Absolute fantastic place to rest. Accommodation is perfect, clean and more than sufficient. Staff is always available, friendly and professional. When you need a brake from a busy life you can definitely do it here.

Beautiful setting for weekend away for family or couples. We enjoyed our stay there, we had issues with parking we booked three units K2, K4 and K6 and the was only one parking per unit and we were 5 couples from different provinces so we had 5 cars and only 3 parking spaces. We had issues with the restaurant menu on Sunday and the manager did not want to attend to us and when he finally did he was very arrogant and dismissive. We had to drive to another restaurant because of the way he handled our situation.

  • 4/5 Martin U. 1 year ago on Google
Sorry that we can't walk over the entire area anymore. It's sad that the area with the "rare game", other than the buffalo camp, is fenced off and only accessible by game drives or guided walks, both rather expensive and neither desired by us. We like walking on our own, looking at plants, game sport, birds and other creatures which you can't appreciate from a vehicle. We are old and find some parts of the hiking trails too rough for us.
