The last time I was here was about 9 years ago. As great as it was back then, I can say with certainty that it's even better now! Full selection of meats were available, our waiter (Mandla) was friendly and took care of us. The place looks great and provides excellent value for money in my opinion. A lovely & unique experience. It was amazing and will tell friends and family of the experience we had there...The Food was out of the top hill; The Meat was out of the world! Die Susan, papa...it was turning, daai storie is leka!!! The Desert was extraordinary, delicious! Before we had our desert the team came to sing for us Shosoloza song but in happy anniversary style, this was ending our night amazingly. it was very funny as well though, You have the team for customer comfort at Carnivore. I just want to thank all of them for doing such good customer service, Also big thanks to Welcome, for being so kind and humble, soft-hearted person, he was there by us to make sure we are satisfied, and we were... i can promise you that. If you are into an exotic meats like ostrich crocodile zebra etc . This is a good place for you to give it a try. But for me who can ate only a pork and a chicken this is not much suitable place to dine for me . The clerk here is very active and let you took a lot of great pictures. Overall a nice experience.

The place is a must try for those who enjoy tasting variety meats. The food is very interesting and the staff is really good at explaining different meats and their combination sauces. Another interesting aspect is the interior. It is indeed a great experience trying game meat sitting on a tribal chair ;) But we could not enjoy it to the fullest because our table was away from fan. It was terribly hot 😓 and many flies were around. The staff could not help by arranging a fan, but then we moved to a different table. So if you are visiting in summer, just make sure to get a fan nearby :) But overall for sure, a must try experience! 😍

Recommend going here on a busy night and not slow. Being a Brazilian style steakhouse, you'll get fresher selections and more options on a busy night where they justify more gauchos. Their meats are local game meats: zebra, crocodile, kudu, etc. The zebra is surprisingly good. We enjoyed our night out.

We attended a birthday dinner on Saturday night and what an experience. They had all types of game meat you can possibly think of. The meat just kept coming and piling on our plates. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience and the relaxed atmosphere, very ideal setup for an extended family. My favourite was the pork, the CRACKLING was on point. Dessert was alright.

Place is beautiful and the service is great. Food was also really good but They bring out the meat really really fast not giving you time to breathe. The dessert wasn't good at all and not many sides were put on the table except for salads but Overall we had a great experience.

An awesome environment to patronize with friends. It is open and allows for free movement it has that rustic feel. A wonderful experience tasting different types of meat from kudu to croc to beef and ostrich. The only downside is that during the festive season it becomes too full such that they become short staffed and run out of sodas. Otherwise a great place to visit but it normally operates from Wednesday to Sunday only.

For me this was a very unique and fun experience. The food is very good and much of it I had never eaten before. It reminded me of Brazilian barbecue but with exotic ( and not so exotic ) meats from Africa. We had a huge group ( over 100 I would guess) and there were some bumps but I think it was handled we'll for such a large group.

Great location, beautiful scenery, great vibe all around, I would give it 5 stars but the menu needs more sides, examples pumpkin, spinach, chakalaka etc. Also the chicken was very dry. Impala, springbok and other game meat was just delicious. Needs more variety on the desserts. I loved it though and will be taking my meat loving sister and mom soon❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

If you love your meat, enjoy variety and the "eat as much as you can" buffet style then this is the place for you. Meats range from your typical sausages beef steaks and chicken to exotics like Crocodile, Zebra, Gemsbok, Blesbok to name but a few! You will also get unlimited salads sauces and starch such as pap. The service we had was absolutely superb. Minor things to be aware of is that it can be loud inside with crowd and music noise and the atmosphere is a little dark on the inside but still feels warm and welcoming. Covid precautions are in place and you will be temperature checked before entering. Go there hungry and enjoy!

This is probably a very biased review from me but being a lover of my continent and more so my country i always get a very homely feeling at carnivore. The food is perfectly prepared and every type of meat could not taste better. This place is especially for people who like to try lots of different things at one go. You will taste like a minimum of 12 different things on the day if you choose to do so.... It is probably best to try a different place if you are a vegetarian as this is a meat eaters paradise. One of my all time favourite places and an easy recommendation from me.

If you enjoy non-vegetarian food, this is definitely the right place for you. As the name states, this is a restaurant for Carnivores - you will find most buck meats, including crocodile, zebra, giraffe, elephant etc. They recommend that you don’t eat for three days before dining as you won’t eat for three days after 😆. Served with pap and chakalaka, followed by a desert.

I have been here twice once in 2017 and once in 2019, both times were great I really enjoyed trying the different types of meat. The types of meat I tried was Impala, Kudu, Zebra, Crocodile and there were others but I don't know how to spell the name! All the meats I tried were great, the crocodile is like chicken but a better version, eating crocodile makes me wish it was the same price to buy as chicken. The zebra meat also tastes like lamb they look and taste similar, I don't think I would know the difference between them, but the zebra was amazing so much moisture and taste. I have given this 4 stars instead of 5 as this time round in 2019 the crocodile was not as great 2019 time round as there was less meat on the portions, it looked like 2019 time it was a crocodile tail and 2017 time was somewhere different so there was more meat, a slight nitpick but when I came here 2019 time round I was really looking forward to trying the crocodile again but that was the only disappointment. I would still definitely come here again the food was great.

Oh my word!!! What an awesome, amazing experience! The staff are amazing, friendly and helpful. They know their stuff and are always ready with a smile. They check in with you to ask if you need anything throughout the meal without being "too much". The meats were divine! All sorts. You can specify if you want a piece that is well done or medium or however you like it. Zebra, crocodile, blesbok, kudu, eland, succulent beef, chicken, pork ribs, samoosas you name it! And you have not lived until you taste their signature drink, Dava (not sure of spelling). Heavenly! Non-alcoholic option available too. All in all, it was such a lovely evening spent there. Cost to overall experience was not worth it. Some context. My girlfriend and I booked a preset valentine's day dinner. All seemed relatively alright with the booking, but looks can be deceiving. In this case, they were. We arrived at the restaurant, and diligently waited to be seated (like the sign told us to), to be greeted by a disenfranchised man in a booth. He looked for our booking with a sombre look on his face, and the searching capability of a Pentium PC. He ushered us to the table of complimentary drinks, where I enquired about non-alcoholic options. Only for another manager to pleasantly direct me. He thereafter walked us to our table and left with his sombre mood. Bear in mind that we booked on the basis that we were told there is a seated smoking section. This was a complete deception. We were disappointed to discover that they do not have such a thing. Only sections outside you can stand and smoke. As a smoker, especially at their prices, I personally prefer to be in a seated smoking section. Each to their own. We resigned ourselves to the fact that this meal is going to be prompt and without comfort. As we waited to eventually be served, we glanced around the room to see no interest in our lost complexion. Eventually, a lovely server came to help us. Her chipper attitude seemingly saved our dinner, and she made the evening far better than it proved to be prior. The food, of course, was delicious. With the exception of the few meats that I personally didn't like, but it's a matter of the meat, nothing else. Once our meal came to an end, we got the bill, and noted that they hadn't credited us for the pre-payment made on the meal. We enquired with our waitress, who spoke to management, only to be required to ask us to email the proof again. I find this part interesting, because we received a mail from them confirming payment. It seems to me that this restaurant really didn't give its all for this event. In fact, I may have had a more valentine's feeling from a box of chocolates and binge watching TV. My boyfriend took me to misty hills for valentine's and a dinner at carnivore was one of the agenda items for the weekend. I was highly impressed by the quality of food and ambiance. The menu was all you can eat, we had a bottle of wine included on our booking , the staff were knowledgeable, friendly and super efficient. It was such good value for money. I have been here a number of times and am super impressed that they have mentioned the good customer service standards.

Really a great experience. The perfect restaurant to take an international visitor as well as to be enjoyed as a local. The layout is fantastic. They serve you a variety of different meats including crocodile meat. The restaurant is located close to The Cradle of human kind so it makes for a great day out. They are very well priced and the quality of food is great. They have ample parking and also have conference facilities available.

The restaurant is a bit dark. A little bit of lighting inside would be great. The service is wonderful. All staff members are friendly and efficient in their serving. Nice location, and restaurant is open and big. The soup was nice but didn’t enjoy the bread it tasted old. Some of the meat didnt make it to our table, but I enjoyed the crocodile, kudu, samosas and sausages. The side dishes were tasty. It’s a nice place to try out different meats, but I think the place need some updating to bring it back to what it was. The chairs are not clean, got served on chipped dishes and the cocktail menu was dirty and sticky.

Enjoyable afternoon at Carnivore excellent value for money but go hungry because it's all you can eat literally. The service was excellent and the food great if you're a meat lover. I had a few servings of the chicken livers which were divine. Would go back with visitors to SA as the setting is rich in some South Africa artifacts and or a large group of friends / fam.

Great selection of meats to indulge in. As the websites states numerous rounds on rounds of meat can be had. Drinks for the day though don't form part of the booked table fee. Dessert 1 round as part of the booked table fee. A great place to go, especially for more of a male orientated celebration or for someone who is a meat lover.

Wonderful Valentines Dinner package, great staff. Very helpful and well mannered. Staff constantly making sure that you're okay and the meat supply is endless. First time trying Zebra, and it was a winner at our table. Meats range from Gemsbok to crocodile to ostrich curry and springbok samosas. Complimentary wine and drink on arrival. The food is a 5 star for me... The experience goes for 3 stars. I was there to celebrate my birthday. I had pre-booked a table 2 weeks prior. On arrival, my name wasn't on the list and it was a busy night as place was packed by 18h00. I was very disappointed and the manager assisted (Thabane) organized a table for two but unfortunately it was outside sitting, it was a very Cold night, but he made sure my first drink was on time as he assigned a waiter to my table whom we only saw once(I made sure management knew about that waiter). Fortunately Thabane had good support for his team, another waiter assisting other tables came to the rescue and his service was prompt (Themba) was his name. My bad experience was easily forgotten once the meals were served, great food there and will return

Never ever do Christmas lunch at Carnivores. The place is full of water puddles from roof leaks and staff did not bother to mop up or explain why the floor is wet. Food is average just plenty of chicken and pork, only the Blesbok was good.You are only allowed one small portion of desert for Christmas lunch what a shame as the desert was better than the average meat we got from a place that promises exotic meats. The menu was not explained on how it works and didn't bother to check if we were okay or needed anything, only when we complained did someone come and ask if they could help us with anything else. It was rather disappointing for the price to be honest.

If you up are a meat eater you will be in heaven. All my colleagues said it was delish. If you are a vegetarian like me do not bother. Alas you do not always have a choice with work outings.

This place is such an awesome idea, so different from anything else I've ever experienced. The food was delicious, and the presentation was is just fantastic. It's honestly an experience, not just a meal. The only complaint I have, which is very situational to my experience, is that the waiters that assisted me all seemed to be very new the restaurant and had little knowledge as well as not being able to speak/understand English properly. That being said, they were still very helpful and incredibly friendly, not a single staff member had a sour face. I highly recommend Carnivore to anyone that's a meat lover, will hopefully come back here soon
