Not a lot of things to see - but the two high crosses and the round tower are worth a visit if you are in the area.

Monasterboice was suggested by the ToursByLocals tour guide, and I'm happy to report that it was a winner. I like older, stone ruins, and not too crowded with (alive) people. The high crosses themselves are large and spectacular. I've never seen anything like it. The Church ruins and Round Tower add to the graveyard ambiance. The only thing missing was some way to enter the Round Tower and see what's inside. Nonetheless, I'd recommend visiting Monasterboice High Crosses if you get the opportunity.

No crowds and beautiful peaceful cemetery with detailed cross and remains.of the old tower. Wish the cross was better protected from touches.

3 High Celtic crosses 5m - 7.5m, round tower n sundial. Plus plenty of other Celtic crosses. Convenient car park n toilets. One of crosses chipped on bottom part as pilgrims used to take bits with them. 5m cross well preserved.

An absolute must to visit. These crosses are not only iconic, but also an extremely important and interesting part of Irish history. I would recommend coming with a guide, as there is a lot of depth and history to the crosses, and cemetery, which you won’t learn without a guide.

An excellently kept burial ground with a large number of Celtic Crosses. The burial traditions of the Irish are very honoring and are put on display here quite well.

The size and workmanship on these High Crosses is awe-inspiring! To think that people from almost 800 years ago could create massive and beautiful masterpieces such as these.

Great place to take photos, not just of the graveyard and round tower but the surrounding area

I love seeing the ruins. I wish they had more history about the crosses for visitors to read.

Quick stop off the Motorway. They have lots of signs up to warn of car thieves. Maybe they really are there, or maybe its a scare tactic. Either way, you definitely know you're being watched, which isn't bad. We weren't gone from the car for more than 10 min, so it's not like we parked and hiked for hours, leaving the car unattended. They have restrooms, too! The crosses and rest of the cemetery were interesting to see.

This is a must visit for any visitor to Ireland, to see the artistry and details of these crosses from over a thousand years ago is a privilege, and the Round Tower is a bonus. In summer there is a temporary reception point where you can collect a laminated A4 description of the figures of both Crosses is described in various languages, (but not portuguese). The lady in attendance was knowledgeable, informative and a joy to talk to.Please take some change for her donation pot, I had none and will forever feel ashamed.

Excellent historical area with a small stone defence tower in a grave yard. There are also three large crosses from the monastery period 1,000 years ago

πŸ‘πŸ‘ Newly made trails linking up with existing ones now makes this great walk even better . Great views of the Boyne valley . Coffee /snack truck with decent ice cream too. Decent parking with park benches. Little gem really . Bigger trail walk than you might initially think.
