This mausoleum is free to enter and a beautiful piece of architecture, particularly from the outside. Overall it takes about 15 minutes to explore inside and out. There is little information, but beautiful tiling and the two minarets are stunning.

(Translated by Google) It is known as the mausoleum of Habib Bourguiba as it is known as the soil of Bourguiba or the family of Bourguiba. It is characterized by being opened on a long square and also at the same time as a museum where there are many things that were related to the late leader. There is also his grave where the Al-Fatihah recite and visitors have mercy on him for what he did in Tunisia at some point. 💞 The place is of course characterized by the fact that you can take a stroll around it, and you can also stroll inside.

It includes not only the body of the late president and his first wife Mathilde, but also those of his parents, brothers and other family members in two other rooms. It was expanded in 1978. Super nice place to visit, walk around for 20mins while in the tourist town. Stone work is marvelous, smooth (water is corroding the stone though, need to keep those walls dry!), building is beautiful. The crypt is mounted in the center, very impressive. More interesting are photos of the president with heads of state from the 60s and 70s (Gaddifi when he was 20yrs old!). Gratis admission (need to go around the corner to entrance). Go upstairs to see the gold inlaid mosaic. They did a fine job. The door is open as well, letting natural sunlight in to shine on the casket. A nice touch. Right in front of giant open square area and existing/working cemetary. Can't miss it.

Whilst visiting Tunisia, I felt compelled to visit the resting and celebration place of Habib Bourguiba. All of the Tunisians I met hold him in such high regard as well as Tunisians standing as the ‘most stable’, democratic country in the region. Very beautiful place and stunning sarcophagus

Nice memorial for the first president of Tunisia. Not very big in size so you won't need more than 30 min to visit it. Has a small museum inside that worth checking. Recommend visiting it when you're in Monastir.

I loved it 😍 u can find everything about Habib Bourgiba. Habib Ben Ali Bourguiba was born in Monastir into a modest family. He then moved to Tunis in 1907 in order to pursue his studies in Sadiki College then in Lycée Carnot, before obtaining his baccalaureate in 1924. In 1927, he graduated from the University of Paris and worked as a lawyer, after his return to Tunis, in the late 1920s. Bourguiba showed interest in fighting the protectorate from a young age. However, he only joined the national movement in the early 1930s, when he became a member of the Destour party and wrote articles denouncing the regime and its inequality. Bourguiba did not agree with the party's elders whose methods were outdated. Thus, on 2 March 1934, at age 31, he co-founded the Neo Destour that spearheaded the Tunisian movement for independence, during the Ksar Hellal Congress.

A beautiful building, stylized as a mosque, covered with white marble, rests the body of the author of the country's independence and the builder of modern Tunisia. You can see this beauty for free, you only need to get here. (Translated by Google) Vast and choreographic with its golden domes visible from afar, the Bourguiba Mausoleum is certainly one of the places to visit in Monastir. Began building in 1960, here in the hometown of the late president, near the Sidi El Mézeri cemetery. Inside, the marble sarcophagus with the remains of Bourguiba and a small museum (or exhibition) of his studio / office. (Translated by Google) It is a must see Habib Bourguiba (Arabic: الحبيب بورقيبة), with his full name Habib Ben Ali Bourguiba, born probably on August 3, 1903 in Monastir and died on April 6, 2000 in the same city, is a Tunisian statesman, president of the Republic between 1957 and 1987. A lawyer trained in France in the 1920s, he returned to Tunisia to militate in nationalist circles. In 1934, at the age of 31, he founded the Néo-Destour, spearhead of the movement for the independence of Tunisia. Several times arrested and exiled by the authorities of the French protectorate, he chose to negotiate with the Fourth Republic, while putting pressure on it, to achieve its objective. Once independence was obtained on March 20, 1956, he helped end the monarchy and proclaim the Republic, which he took over as first president on July 25, 1957. From then on, he worked to set up a modern state. Among the priorities of its political action are the development of education, the reduction of inequalities between men and women, economic development and a balanced foreign policy, which makes it an exception among the Arab leaders. This does not prevent the development of a cult of personality around his person - he then bears the title of "Supreme Fighter" - and the establishment of a single party regime for twenty years. The end of his presidency, marked by his declining health, the rise of clientelism and Islamism, concluded with his dismissal on November 7, 1987, on the initiative of his Prime Minister Zine el-Abidine Ben Ali.
