Not sure where to start from. Let's talk about positives : Less expensive, bigger portions, quick preparation. This is the first time I've ordered from Passage To India and I'm totally disappointed. Visually I was unable to differentiate between Chicken Fried Rice and Chicken Biryani (except Biryani was yellowish). Fried Rice was bland, felt like prepared in hurry, chicken pieces tasted stale (I did order the fried rice as mild - but mild doesn't mean bland, mild doesn't mean chicken pieces will taste stale). Biryani was no better either, tasted like rice was mixed with some raw spices and boiled together. Now to the Malabar Curry - this is the worst of the lot. Greasy, cooked in hurry and looked like chicken pieces were an afterthought for it. Bottom Line : I won't waste my money there again.

The quality of food and taste is great also pretty good hygiene. The service is also nice. Polite Staff is always willing to help. What makes them better from other Indian restaurants is that they are consistent in their quality and service.. So far one of the best Indian restaurants in Charlotte, I love to visit them again. Keep up the good work.

We love their butter chicken and gobi manchurian. Service is always prompt and food fresh. I do not recommend their Biryani at all! They added tomatoes in it and a tomato salad on top of it. It was more like a puloa than biryani. Biryani was a 1 out of 10.

This place has nice Indian food for the university area. They seem to never make it as spicy as I know they can, when I ask for a ten it’s usually mild for me even though I’ve experienced before how spicy they can make it. I’m unsure if the buffet is still closed, but it was the best part about this place.

Good food and reasonable prices. My only problem is in the pickup process. I ordered around 4:30 pm and scheduled a 7 pm pick up, I got there at 7 and they said I needed to wait as my food wasn’t ready yet. Ten minutes later there was a line outside and the small booth they have inside made it really hard to communicate without cutting people in line. I ended up getting my food about 20 minutes later although I ordered it over 2 hours in advance. I think the pickup process can be vastly improved. Food was good though.

Look at this place the dying fly is side on the eating table as well as under the table . How can we eat like this they told us to stay there . We can’t eat just the food and money is waste . Also the toilet is too dirty 🤮

When I feel like treating myself, I pick up two entrees on a Sunday evening. With the rice and generous portions, I have five days of delicious lunches! It's a great value and the food is so tasty. I especially like the Fish Malabar and Samosa Chat. Also, the staff seem to have taken good precautions to keep customers and employees safe during this pandemic.

I am so disappointed in my experience this afternoon with Passage to India. My experience is usually pretty good. Today, I ordered Goat Curry and look at the picture. They almost killed me with all of the bone shards. Huge disappointment to say the least. The meat was tough, not cooked long enough and on the picture there is a whole line of fat. Be very wary......

Best Indian food in Charlotte, and I've tried a bunch. Shame the buffet has closed, but understandable due to living in a COVID conscious culture. Staff very friendly and online app super easy to use.

Best indian food in charlotte. The biryani they make is amazing can't get enough of it! Thanks for the great quality food However, your servers need to do their job better because every time we go eat there they hardly check on us and never refill drinks. That's the only reason we order take out and we don't dine in anymore.

I'm not from Charlotte, but definitely some of the best Indian food I've had. Mild spice level was fine for my American taste buds, would try medium next time to see how much I'll tear up. Normally would've docked one star for service, but they might have just recently opened up, and the food definitely made up for it. Also very reasonably priced. 10/10 would try again.

I truly love ocming to this place because the CURRY GOAT is spectacular🥲🤣🙌🏿! I usually go with the spice Level 7 and add an extra sode of rice because the portion is hearty. The flavor reminds me of the Indian Cusine I used to get back home in NYC. ALWAYS A TRADITION TO STOP BY HERE WHEN I'M IN TOWN📞✈️🛣👀😉.

11/27/21 So, I never had Indian food until now. I tried my sister's leftovers (chicken korma), and I said this is what I'm eating tomorrow! I ordered the chicken korma - medium spicy, ras malai (cheese dumpling with milk), and a mango lassi). If you ever had Mexican mole, chicken korma resembles it a little bit. It's the sauce! So delicious. The cheese dumpling was super interesting. Sweet but the texture felt weird lol. The mango lassi was really good. It soothes your tongue so it goes great with what I had. Definitely recommend ordering food. I understand they're going through a renovation so I'm excited to eat in when I'm back in the area :D

Still my favorite Indian restaurant in Charlotte! Not only is there food delicious, but I really appreciate their customer service. I ordered food today for pick up but I had a sleeping baby in the car and didn’t want to disturb him taking his car seat in and out of the car just to run in. I asked if I could pay over the phone and if someone could run the food out to me. I certainly don’t intend to take advantage of this, but I really appreciate their willingness to do it given my circumstances. Thanks Passage to India for another great experience!

I haven't eaten in, but I've placed pick-up orders a couple of times. The man who works the register and the phones is very polite and helpful. The food is seriously amazing. The samosa and dal soup are my favorites. So flavorful.

I have been going to this restaurant for years and enjoyed their food, however, since this pandemic started and they are take out only their food has been on a downward spiral. My last order was worst than bad. Nothing in the order was right. The Samosa was burned, the Palak Paneer was not fresh with hard cubes of cheese, the Sheekh Kebab seemed like it had been sitting under a light for hours and was dried out, and I paid for two orders of Papadum but only received one. Done with ya'll.

We absolutely love this place. We order multiple times a month and I can’t say I’ve ever personally been let down. We are a vegetarian household so I’ll only comment on what I’m able to… I find the gravies and veggies full of flavor. If you’re reading this, I bet at least one person on the order is going to get tikka.. well it’s great. But don’t be afraid to try something new, it’s all great! Don’t forget the naan. The spice levels are actually noticeable and to me, that’s a huge plus. If you’re not a spice person I would keep it below medium. Don’t go leaving negative reviews when you can’t handle it. If you are, however, you’ll love it! This business has adapted to covid quite well, they are take out/delivery only(we use both methods frequently) and don’t allow crowds to gather inside. The to-go containers are always hot and tightly wrapped to stop the mess. The orders are always accurate and complete. And the staff is so nice. Try it out!

I absolutely love this place… It’s a small inconvenience because you can dine in as of yet due to Covid, but this doesn’t take away from the quality of the food. Always fresh and very tasty. My favorite is the Gobi Manchurian 🤩 everything is D’lish!

Amazingly delicious food with huge portions! We could have easily shared a single dish for the whole family. It's currently open for takeout/delivery only. Everything was ready exactly on-time. The order was 100% correct. I highly recommend the chicken marsala and chicken biryani. Don't forget the garlic naan!

The management of this restaurant is so poor and inside of the restaurant is so nasty dirty unorganized and when I went inside of this restaurant I’ve asked for a water and they’ve gave me a nasty smelly dirty sink water and the table sofa that you’re sitting all dirty nasty and you can even sit on and I’ve decided to take the food to go. and also when a customer charge their card they took convenience fee in other words employee takes the credit card charge fee from their customer and the people or the staff is very stingy cheap and the owner named Andy who owned the restaurant before he used to have a buffet but right now the new owner is sucks and did not offer any buffet and I suggest to everyone not to go to this restaurant and if you go inside this restaurant you’ll start to throw up 🤮 and I was gonna eat the food inside the restaurant but the look of it I decided to go and than I’ve ordered chilli chicken dry and than when I opened the white container box I saw the black hair inside of the box

After management change this restaurant food and service has degraded big time. I use to love this place but not anymore. Even if you are dining in you have to get up and order your own food and pick up your food and eat in restaurant as a takeout order. Not great.

Excellent experience. We were looking for an Indian restaurant to replace our old favorite, Jaipur - it has outlived its charm. Passage to India gave me my Lamb Korma exactly as I asked for, the first time. Very friendly, cordial and efficient staff. I thoroughly enjoyed my meal and friendly waiter. It's a small, but cozy restaurant, definately family run. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone that enjoys Indian food. I am stuffed and I was unable to finish the naan that we got to go with the meal. Great sweet tea too. Prices are comparable with other Indian restaurants and very clean. Think this is going to be our new go to Indian restaurant. Highly recommended.

This was the best Indian food I have ever had, and that includes restaurants in Hicksville, NY and Manhattan, which are known for authentic cuisine. We ordered everything "mild" and there was an abundance of flavor and a hint of spice. Fantastic! They also have Medium and Spicy for the more adventurous, as well as "no spice." They accommodated gluten and dairy allergies for my husband, and he had no cross contamination symptoms. We ordered chicken tikka masala (with sauce so creamy it was almost buttery), buttered naan, chicken biryani (so flavorful), aloo gobi (delicious sauce with a hint of sweetness) and curried goat (traditional and tasty). All were so delicious, but the aloo gobi (fully vegan btw) was extra special. Such wonderful flavors. I have a feeling we will be back, again and again. Also, we ordered for delivery and the food arrived fresh and hot.

Indian is one of our favorite cuisines, but we haven't found a lot of Indian restaurants we really love in Charlotte. One of our Instagram friends recommended this to us and I'm so happy they did! Covid-19: you can order and pay online. They aren't open for dine in right now. They only let one person inside at a time to pick up food. I was really impressed with their setup. They aren't doing their special deals right now. Their lunch box looks like a great deal—two veggie curries, rice, and naan for $6. We got three curries: Shai Paneer, Malai Kofta, and Mutter Paneer. All were very good. The Shai Paneer was my favorite. I loved that the paneer was shredded. The Mutter Paneer was my next favorite. They weren't stingy on the paneer in this dish at all. The curry for the Malai Kofta was pretty good, but the Kofta balls were kind of dry and bland. Obviously we got naan too. We got an order of garlic naan and an order of onion kulcha. Garlic Naan continues to be my favorite. Nothing can beat it for me. This is definitely one of my favorite Indian places in Charlotte. If you like Indian food, go support them!

During COVID-19 it seems every restaurant I have ordered from has dropped in quality, service, and gets my order wrong. Not only have they always been great in the many years I've frequented, but during times like these their service and quality level cannot be understated; their melt in your mouth dishes always hit the spot and my carry out orders are never missing items. Give them a go and enjoy, affordable, authentic, and satisfying deliciousness!

This place has the best Aloo gobi I've had in a loooong time. Fresh ginger, creamy rich curry, and adjustable spice level make it a must-order item (it's vegan too-for all those veggie-only eaters out there). Butter chicken is also wonderfully flavor filled. A great selection of freshly-baked breads are available to accompany your meal as well. Very affordable, 2 entrees and additional side of bread for under $30. Available via doordash too!

The worst biryani I ever had in Charlotte. I ordered goat dhum biryani. The rice was broken, it was not dhum biryani, and the biryani was topped with chopped tomatos and onions. Who will top the biryani with tomatos? Oh my god, this is the worst experience in charlotte. I even called the restaurant and complained about it, they just said will let the chef know about the feedback. Will never recommend this restaurant to anyone in my life. Please don't go

I was so impressed the last time I ordered lunch from this spot I tried to order again. I remembered the food being so fresh, hot and the naan was delicious! I ate the food for at least 2-3 meals. However, I just made the mistake of trying to order again and accidentally messing up and ordering from the wrong restaurant. I am so disappointed. I wanted to let you know that other Indian lunch spots do not compare and that I will be ordering from you again because you set the standard for affordable delicious Indian cuisine!

My favorite Indian restaurant, and I've eaten at Indian restaurants in New York, Seattle, Denver, Chicago, and LA. Their muttar paneer, korma, tikka masala, and vindaloo are awesome, and the prices are really reasonable. The staff has always been friendly and the place is clean. First time ordering and I was genuinely surprised with the generous food portions. I ordered 1 appetizer and 2 entrees, the food was delicious.

This was the first restaurant we ate when we arrived at Charlotte, 10 years back. Glad to report - the consistency and delicious cuisine which won our hearts - is still INTACT !!! We have lost count of the number of times we have eaten here...I'd say close to 200 time at least :)

Food is good. I think they should re-open their dine in service. Maybe making enough this way and keeping minimum staff. I don't know.

  • 5/5 Amanda 3 years ago on Google
Their paneer tikka masala is the best I've ever had, and the dosa and kulcha are delightful -- really good value for how much food you get. Online ordering was easy and the pickup process was smooth. Staff are always friendly.

I ordered the butter chicken and aaloo paalak and the flavours were insipid. The butter chicken was peculiarly sweet and the aaloo paalak, bland. It could just be these dishes judging by the reviews below, but my order was rather disappointing. Sorry guys, I was expecting something more authentic.

Great service and attention to detail. The food is excellent and it’s a Hampton institution.

  • 5/5 Shaun T. 4 years ago on Google
The food is the best of the Indian restaurants across Bay st, Church st and Hampton St. However that is not why I come here. The service is why, it is impeccable. Staff who genuinely want to help you have a great evening. If you want a lovely dinner then don’t go past Roti Boti!!

I ordered via Ubereats. I understand restaurateurs are very busy but my order did not arrive after an hour. When I got through to the restaurant and queried my order, they were not helpful and ended the conversation by telling me to EFF OFF. Great service....not.

One of the finest restaurant serving delicious Indian cuisine. Prawn entree and biryani is highly recommendable. P.S If you’re going in a group, reserve a table in advance. (deducting one star for slow service )

One of the best places for Indian food in Melbourne! Awesome food and brilliant attention to the service. The mango lassi was well balanced. We had the chicken kastoori kebab and tandoori fish tikka for appetiser and they were delicious. We had chicken jalfrezi for the main course and it was equally tasty. The ambience could be better though. We could see long dangling cobwebs on the piece of decor that was right above our table.

We've been going here for years being local. I think it gets better all the time. Nitin and his staff are friendly , welcoming, engaging and always professional. Tonights meal was the best we've had there, and we are a bit fussy as my wife is from the sub-continent too. The Kashmiri Naan was a spectacular meal in itself, the Chicken Saag and the Tulsi Tandoori Prawns were wildly tasty and a couple of Kingfishers never make a meal worse. Just perfect. Go there!

One of the best Indian food places. Very pleasant staff, food delicately cooked. Not a lamb fan, but the marinated lamb cutlets are to die for! Everything is on the spicy Hot side, but they can tame it down to mild to order.

  • 4/5 Ian A. 4 years ago on Google
Our "go-to" for local curry. Yes, in Hampton not Brighton, but the curry is authentic and the service is excellent. Only improvement would be they need to do a large size in addition to their current standard serving when it comes to take-away.

Gold Class! Hands down best Indian food you will find and the service is VIP standard. I love this place

  • 4/5 William V. 2 years ago on Google
Can't dine in; they only do pick-up orders because of some construction. You need to find the entrance; you'll see when you get there. The food is very good; I recommend the Chicken Malabar. Don't forget to ask for utensils or have your own.

  • 2/5 Jordan W. 2 years ago on Google
Ok food but it is consistently late on pickup time by about 15 minutes.

Hands down THE BEST Indian food in the North East corner of Charlotte. Very nice service. Well priced for a high quality dish. Too bad they're not open for dining in at the moment. Also, it's important to mention that masala dishes from this restaurant will have plenty of butter in them, but the texture and consistency of it is exactly what it's supposed to be. Not americanized, not simplified, no skimping or cutting cost on ingredients. I really wish there were more places like this. It's an obvious and non negotiable 5 out of 5 stars.

  • 1/5 Ranjeet S. 1 year ago on Google
Felt this place was dishonest so chose not to order. Drove there to find out they only do take outs. I inquired why that was the case, owner said that it was due to some construction which just completed. Upon reading reviews, this has been their SOP since Covid, why not just be honest? General reviews didn’t seem right most complained about quality of food so drove to Copper Indian restaurant food was better

First time ordering from here on Door Dash. It was soooo good! The Lamb Tikka Massala is super tender and delicious. I'm excited to eat my left overs for lunch tomorrow. I'll be ordering from here some more!

We already smelled the curry when across the street haha. Food is very delicious and they give you so much. We had lamb biryani. I think it's around $14 plus tax. Incredibly best value for awesome taste!! Look at this whole plate. It's literally enough for 2ppl. The cup is their special yogurt to put on top of rice. Anyways, it tastes really good! Takeout only though. Would definitely go back if visiting CLT again.

The food was good. I mean what can I say Ive never had indian food! We tried a couple diff things. I def recommend this place if you wanna try out indian food.

Ate here for the first time Monday. Excellent chicken tiki masala. Large serving had me filled. Loved the buttered naan. Best way to describe the atmosphere is an Indian take out restaurant with some seating. You order at the counter, serve your own water, and bus your own table. They no longer have a buffet. Overall I would recommend this place but just know what it is ( a good stop for Indian food) and isn’t (buffet or romantic date night stop).

Fantastic food. They are reasonably priced compared to most other Indian restaurants in town as well which makes it all the better. The service is wonderful too. My only personal complaint is I wish there was a spice level between "medium +" and "spicy" but the food is fantastic and well made!! That's partially on me for not being able to take the heat. I came in once and there was a mixup with my call-in order, mistakes happen so I wasn't mad. They provided a free drink which was lovely as I was biking out in the heat just to visit this place. I highly recommend trying this place out!
