Gilbert’s Resort in Key Largo is one of the first stops that I go to when I go down to the area. One thing that I love about this place is that it has live music and great quality customer service. I love the rum runners that they serve at the bar and the seafood here is also very good. I recommend the coconut shrimp that has a sauce that’s really good. If you are going down to Key Largo, this would be the first place that you would want to stop at in your day and continue from there. This makes for a great birthday celebration spot or if you ever want to get away from the busy world, you can pull up and relax all day. Parking can be done through the parking lot or if it’s packed people park on the side of the road outside. You’ll see where they are parking and it’s very easy so find.

I have visited the restaurant area several times while traveling and would normally give it 5 stars. However, this last visit was not 5-star worthy, unfortunately. The location is great, that's a given. But the service was just horrible. We ordered an appetizer and it came with the meal, we had to chase the server down for drinks. I had to go find our silverware and napkins to even eat. The guy was yelling and talking to other people while pretending to care about us. He never bused the table once food was finished, and never came to check to make sure things were okay. We had to go find him ourselves or find what we needed ourselves. We had to chase down our bill. We honestly could have walked out and not paid and the guy was so distracted goofing off he wouldn't have even known. Then to our disappointment, we had a 20% gratuity added to our check for a server who could not even bring us napkins. I guess he figured he was automatically getting a decent tip so he didn't have to put any effort forth. Huge disappointment when we were really looking forward to visiting what used to be a favorite spot again.

First rate! Amber, the bar tender was wonderful. I got the Grilled Mahi dinner and would def. order it again. The veggies were delicious too! Didn't take a picture of my food but the sunset was stupendous! What a blessing! Hey, I shouldn't gave forgotten to mention how much we enjoyed the band. Dan Fermanick, I think, was lead guitar according to his significant other, who was also very sweet.

Had a sunset dinner with friends, and we had a wonderful time with not having to drive all the way down to the Keys. Very nice staff and the food was good. We were able to walk around the property and have drinks watching spectacular views.

Didn't stay here. Just came to eat at the tiki bar and it was the BEST hogfish I've ever had. Great atmosphere. Loved it and will be back! Updated: came back and it was still delicious food and once again loved the atmosphere. This might be a monthly date night.

Gilbert’s is always a lot of fun. On the weekends it’s busier but still enjoyable. On the weekdays it’s slower, allowing you to get in the water and have some space. They have kayak and jet ski rentals if the weather is good. I’ve never stayed at the resort but I’m sure it’s worth it if you’re traveling far.

It has always been a weekend getaway for my family to go have lunch and have a good time and to top it off enjoy the sunset!! but ? On the first day of the year 2024, we were taken by surprise that the place where you could freely enjoy this sunset was closed to the public. Tourism in Florida in the winter months is definitely a lot of movement, but in those hot months, the regulars are more likely to visit the place. We are the ones who visit it the most but now closed for sunset I think it is not fair to those who have always been regulars to this location.

Great stop on the boat when traveling north or south! We stopped in headed south on our way to Key West for lunch and fuel. We were greeted right away by a nice lady dock hand who helped us tie off. We were early (around 11:15) and mid week so it wasn’t at all crowded. Sat at the bar and ordered drinks and lunch. The drinks were excellent. The food was good but I wouldn’t say amazing. We had the pulled pork sandwich, sweet potato fries and some mozzarella sticks. Bartender was attentive. After lunch we went back to the boat for fueling. The dock hand again came out and helped me slide the boat back to be able to reach the fuel and she stood there and chatted with us while fueling. This is an iconic stop whether you’re driving the overseas highway or boating the ICW, Gilbert’s doesn’t disappoint.

Great resort! Room was right on the water so relaxing. Inside the room was very quiet and very clean. Tiki bar restaurant had amazing food and the live band was amazing. I will definitely be staying at this resort again!

Go for the sunset not for the food. The sunset was gorgeous but you can't see it from the Tiki Bar. The food was okay. My husband got the Lobster Bites - they were made from the small lobster tails so they were a bit tough and overpriced. I got the Mahi Mahi dinner. It was just okay as well. The grilled Mahi was good, the rice was not really cooked and crunchy. I asked for different rice and was told that was all they had. This may have been a great resort back in the day, but I would recommend going elsewhere.

Better food and drinks than most of the other 45 seafood bars in the area. Competing music was a little overwhelming, but then all the big boat exhaust plumes and deafening engine peacocking quickly distracts you. GREAT raspberry monitors, best Philly in the keys, and male posturing is free of charge!
