We arrived just before sunset on a quiet Thursday evening. The gift shop was closed and the tours were over but we still wanted to enjoy the scenery. We decided to take a small fall hike in the park and the scenery was breathtaking. I can’t wait to come back and fully experience the farm but the park itself is a true gem.

Stopped by the gift shop/museum first. Friendly lady at the counter. We hiked the butternut trail today, well after a missed turn out of the parking lot and a mile plus on the horse trail. Up to and through the caves. Great time of year. A little icy in the cave. Wonderful easier trail After leaving there we drove over to My Jeez for a quick look around from the top of the hill. We will return in the spring.

It was a beautiful place to take a walk. My son loved seeing the animals. They have a nice souvenir shop and a playground. We also take a drive around to see nature. Been there twice and will always come back.

Always a nice getaway. I guess that's why Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall got married and spent their honeymoon there! On the front garden walkway steps, in front of the Big House, is where I proposed to my wife, of 38 years. I proposed to her, 40 years ago!

I wish I could give this 10 stars. Thoroughly enjoyed our tour. Mark was an excellent guide. Well worth time spent there. The price was very affordable. The house tour isn't interesting to young children but the farm animals and barn would be. It was by far the best house tour I have ever been at. Thank you Mark

We just happened upon this park traveling across country. What a cool little (not so little) place! Tour the big house and the grounds. It's a working farm as well, but the cool thing is the history of Mr Bromfield. Just a real neat story in American history. Who knew?!? The park guide who gave us the tour-mark- was great, full of knowledge. They also have seasonal events. This is a sprawling property. Huge house, but not fancy or pretentious, just well done and comfortable. Lots of horse trails and hiking trails to explore. Rolling hills, woods, typical Ohio, but there is also some cool geological history here as well going back to glaciers. Not pricey at all, visitor center is open! Well stocked and funny lady working!! Loved our visit, thanks!

Came with the wife and kids. They loved the farm and seeing the animals the trails we couldn't go on as one of my son's has medical issues that make hiking unsteady terrain to hard. They had fun walking the farm and going up mt. Jeez overlook where you can see the whole farm. Lots to do here including horse back riding and camping.

Unfortunately, our stay occurred right after a tornado had touched down in the area. All hiking trails and some activities were shutdown. We plan to return after the trails are opened.....Hopefully this fall for a deeper exploration. Be sure to call ahead to find out times for the wagon tour ($3 pp) and house tour.

Always a pleasure to visit this treasure of a place. The history alone is enticing enough. Whether you are interested in Native American lore, Louis Bromfield and his accomplishments, or the eerie legends surrounding the Ceely Rose murders, there is plenty to be gained by reading up on this historical landmark and visiting it's features. Aside from the history, there are many activities hosted at Malabar Farm such as guided tours, picnic days, barn visits with a small petting area, heritage day festivals and maple syrup festivals, sledding and snowshoeing in the winter, fishing, and loads of trails (both bridle and hiking) that will take you to a small waterfall and some caves. Although I've never attended, I believe there is also a monthly barn dance. Finally, there is Pugh cabin which my family recently rented out for Thanksgiving. The cabin itself was fantastic and hosted a large crowd. A huge fireplace kept the place warm and provided the perfect ambiance. While the outside patio was wet and we were unable to use it, in better conditions it would provide a fire pit and kettle for cooking and several picnic tables. All in all, Malabar Farm is a gem. I'm sure I've left out many amenities and activities, but it is worth the visit.

We went for the Maple Syrup Festival and had a great time. Everyone was so friendly. There are a few places to interact with animals (no feeding) and they do have a historic home walk around. There is a playground for kids as well.

The free exhibit and gift shop is nice. If I lived in this area I would be buying a lot of my meat from the gift shop the price per pound is good. Check the tour schedule and plan your visit accordingly. The wagon farm tour looks like fun but we arrived as it was leaving the welcome center. Take advantage of the picnic tables for lunch

We rented the Maple Syrup cabin for our wedding ceremony on the dock and the Pugh Cabin for the reception. Everything we dreamed of! Sara the groundskeeper was so accommodating and nice. The place was perfect and well supplied. Our guests kept complimenting on the beautiful location and setting. Highly recommend!

What a wonderful state park for the whole family. We visited during their yearly festival which was free. A self-guided tour of the home was free. Free tasting of a smoked hog was available for all and there was enough being smoked from the smoke house to be enjoyed by every visitor. The war of 1812 re-enactment was on display with men and women dressed in costume from that time period along with tents they would have used. Some selling what they made others educating the public on the time period. A demonstration of the cannons was very loud. Ear plugs for safety are suggested. Different bands played throughout the day. Arrowheads and other artifacts were displayed and for sale. The Pugh Cabin at Malabar Farms is an added bonus! Trails all around the cabin and dry horse trailer camping. Can spend a whole day hiking trails around the cabin. Be sure to Google the Pugh cabin for interesting history into how Mr. Pugh built it. Have Fun!

Many walking trails as well as nice historic areas to explore with your family. The paths have some elevation and aren't just flat which is a nice change. The trails are marked fairly well at the trailheads.

A very historical farm and a pioneer in modern farming practices. Along with the filming of Shawshank Redemption here and Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall were married here. The smaller house was where a mass murder took place.

Author and conservationist Louis Bromfield combined several farms to create his home,Malabar Farm, where farming practices were demonstrated. The Ohio Department of Natural Resources adopted the working farm into the state’s diverse group of state parks taking up Bromfield’s banner for natural conservation and proper farm management. The park has programs throughout the year including Maple Sugar festival, Spring Plow days, barn dances, Fall Heritage days, Main House tours and more. Scenic views can be experienced atop famed Mt. Jeez that provides beautiful vistas of the the surrounding Pleasant Valley.

I love the Big House tour. But it's not equipped at all for elderly people or for people with limited mobility. Many stairs. The tour guide was somewhat confused and not all together. Everyrhing else very enjoyable!

i rented the Pugh cabin for a day ..... to get rid of stress and spend time with my hubby .... heres the bad: Arrived at cabin, ''NO KEY'' smh ! drove back to the office: to get a key ...went in, explained my dilemma ... the man standing at the end of the counter (doing nothing) was flat out "RUDE" and treated me like a low-class dumb woman, started rattling on, about the process of; renting the Pugh cabin' , to get the key, and how i should of went online etc. etc. reprimanding me, REFUSED to help, flat out did NOT listen to a word i had to said. the other guy sitting at the desk wasn't about to help me either, after explaining my dilemma again, saying; there's NO KEY in the box, i need a key !!! he remarked; ' i can't help i just clean the cabins'. A nice lady from the back office, came out, walked over to the wall and got a key off the key rack! thanks to the lady .... no key + rude men = ..?. this day i planned on getting rid of stress, not adding to it ...back to the Pugh cabin. the SMELL is strong: i would NOT have a wedding or any event here!!! we aired the place out ,used some freshers ... still there's a SMELL ....it made me sick had a bad allergy attack!!! no key+ rude men+ smell= ...? the dirt , dirty bathroom, and ? there was FOOD behind the one sofa .... FOOD ? smh no key+rude men+smell+ Dirt+ FOOD = ? food behind the sofa , .. we had to clean the sofa so i could rest because of my allergy attack/Headache... while resting ? '''BATS''' CAME OUT FROM AROUND THE FRONT FIREPLACE !!! '''WE LEFT'''' so a good point : the cabin is interesting, and the area ... ""I WILL NEVER GO BACK''' ! ! ! !

Fall is an excellent time to visit this area. The changing colors and variety of trees and to the experience of nature at its best. The Heritage Days is something anyone can enjoy.

A wedding and the 9 thousand teenagers taking school dance pictures ruined the experience or ability to enjoy the main house. Beware and visit accordingly. Really neat otherwise.

Beautiful place to visit. Went for the candlelight Christmas tour... Everyone was very nice and it was a great experience learning about a piece of Ohio history. And we were welcomed by the cutest little tour guide ever...a sweet little farm kitty that wanted all the love

Wonderful visit to Malabar Farm, our guide Alana was very knowledgeable thorough, she knows this farm and Louis Brumfield! And, don't forget to visit Pancho the resident parrot, he is quite the character!

I was there for one of their event days. They had lots of educational booths, lots of craft booths, good choices of food vendors the gift shop was open and had nice selection of items all this paired with a delightful day it was a very satisfying visit. The place was handicap accessible and child friendly. There is a nice children's playground also. It has lots of area and farm history for those interested in this. It was a free entrance for the event so very affordable. In general a very good day to leisurely take in nature and the social event.

Malabar Farms seemed like a really nice place. It was shutting down for the evening so we only had about 10 minutes in the animal barn. We also missed the last wagon tour. We walked around and took some pictures. I would enjoy going back again earlier in the day.

Malabar Farm State Park is amazing. We go there frequently and have stayed at the Maple Syrup Cabin often. See the "Forrest" fire pic that I've included. The hiking trails are not that demanding and the House tour is exceptional (especially when done by Mark). The tractor tour is a hoot and we really enjoy seeing all the critters in the barn. The staff are always friendly and more then willing to help as well. Just a really enjoyable place to visit, overnight and dine! 5 Stars!
