This is the one of the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed. My room is extreme disgusting, and the AC filter looks like never been clean, the safety are scary… mold everywhere in the bathtub. The sheet has stain, the wall is gross, The whole room smell like cigarette and weed. Only good about this place is they have nice staff, I’ve stayed for 2 night, but it’s full booking, so not much they can do. But please aware this red roof hotel… if you don’t wanna any unpleasant experience.

I've been staying at this location for a decade or more as my go-to base for visiting Kennywood. It used to be reliable budget accommodations, nothing fancy but decent rooms, but after a few years away I came back recently to find it has seriously gone downhill. I booked what purported to be the "premium King room." The towel bar was hanging off the wall on one side, taking a chunk of plaster with it. The overhead light in the bathroom was strobing. We stayed two nights. The first morning we discovered that the coffee provided for the coffee maker was all decaf (4 pouches of it!) and no regular. We also discovered that no shampoo was provided. When we came back to the room after an extremely hot and humid day I was looking forward to getting away from the weather. Despite the fact that we had left the A/C on all day, the room was incredibly humid, to the extent that some paper money that had been left in the room felt damp and the sheets felt sticky. Also, despite our hope that new coffee/shampoo would be stocked, housekeeping did not come to the room, even though we were out of it by 8:30 am. Other issues included that other guests were smoking very stinky weed nearby which infused my room and also it seemed like random people were just hanging around (and in one case sleeping) in the hotel office which seemed a bit off. Sadly I think this might be my last visit to my old reliable hotel. I will give it two positives: the office staff were friendly, and I appreciated the little box of snacks left in the room, which was very helpful for my early morning rush, though would have gone a lot better with coffee.

I have stayed here several times but this time it was beyond terrible. Bed had a used coffee stirrer. Toilet seat was not cleaned at all. Bathtub had a used soap from people who checked out before I checked in, water was not draining from the sink. It was pretty disgusting to see all this. Please spend another $20 and stay at a better and cleaner hotel.

Check in is 3:00pm got there and rooms weren’t ready yet. Finally, at 3:45pm we got our key to the room. We got up to the 3rd floor and it’s the wrong room. Reservations were for 2 beds it was for one. Went back downstairs and told the front desk. He gives me keys to another room. We go to that room and it hasn’t even been cleaned yet. Back down to the front desk for a THIRD time and got a different room. Over all time for just CHECKING INTO A ROOM WAS 2 HOURS!!!

Great motel. Clean rooms, plenty of parking, an outdoor elevator to get your luggage up to the third floor which is where we stayed. The rooms smell so nice, people who are sensitive to air freshener might not appreciate it but I found it pleasant. Refrigerator, coffee maker and microwave in the room. And premium cable stations which surprised me, all the HBO channels etc, also you can rent movies but I think $20-$25 a movie is too expensive but others may not. All in all a very nice place to stay.

BEWARE OF THE FRAUD AND SCAM OF THIS HOTEL One of the worse hotels to go to. Beware when you plan to book this hotel especially in this location. We had booked 2 rooms 2 weeks ago and when we went to check in the rooms were full of smoking smell and very untidy. We had a small baby and we couldn't risk and spoke to the front desk person and cancelled the reservation immediately as per the policy. They clearly stated and agreed that they would refund full amount. They initially refunded the amount and revoked the payment the next day. I have now been following up every day and the only response I get is we will speak to boss and get back which did not happen till now. Today they replied saying that they are not going to refund. Anyone booking this hotel or cancelling, do check if they refund temporarily and revoke the payments again ================================ Replying to the response from owner: When you respond to customers with the random response by just copy/pasting the content without even reading the review, this shows the mindset of the management of this hotel. Now wonder it has got such bad reviews/ratings. Next time, at least read the context and try to understand on what customers are complaining about.. otherwise your hotel will soon be no where without anyone opting it!!!

This place has gone soooo downhill. And all the reviews saying you’re not getting any money back? INCLUDING the temporary room fee for cleaning, yeah you’re not getting that back. They charge it immediately so it’s not a low 30-70 a night, add 50 to that. You might as well stay at a 5 star hotel. Room looked like someone honestly died there. Me and my fiancé couldn’t sit in the room for more than an hour because the cigarette smoke was making our eyes burn. You can hear everyone coughing and getting it in through the walls, and to make matters worse the remote wasn’t even compatible to the tv so we couldn’t drown out the noise. Making this review late, because I wanted to see if they’d return the cleaning fee before writing this. But now, here’s the pictures so you know what you get at a red roof.

Bed bugs. Room itself was fine for a 2 star hotel. Cleaning could have been better. Staff was friendly. Woke up to a dozen bed bug bites. Contacted hotel and customer service line. Both said someone would reach out and Noone ever did. Reported situation to Allegheny County Health Services.

Stayed in a deluxe double bed room for three nights, left early. The room was clean and visually appealing. Had a TV, two comfortable beds, a nice shower & bathroom with seemingly infinite hot water (which is great if you enjoy hot showers as a time to relax), a microwave, coffee machine, phone and alarm clock. Hotel room door had multiple locks for good security. Here is what I’m looking at from the lens of improving the hotel room and overall experience for the guests. - Phone cord was unplugged from the phone, and I had to hold the cord into the phone to use it. - The alarm clock was terribly dirty and not clean, so I didn’t use it. - The ceiling had a couple small damages, nothing too extreme. Other than that this hotel is perfect for its price. Around $60 a night, it’s well worth the price. I would advise caution using the elevator however , and this is a sign to the hotel that the company should get it checked as soon as possible. When entering, the doors are slow and give off the energy of an elderly man when walking. The elevator seems old and needs to be repaired. Furthermore, the elevator makes a loud shaking noise and physically shakes vigorously when moving up a floor. The inside of the elevator has a bit of graffiti and doesn’t seem that clean, but manageable. Overall, it’s a good hotel but only in the view of “you get what you pay for.” In my opinion, it has everything you need to stay a night or multiple nights. No breakfast but there are many stores and restaurants within a mile radius.

Beware. July 2023. Safety concerns. This hotel does not issue refunds. Even for rooms that probably should not be used for guests. The first room was not cleaned from previous guests. The second room door knob fell off and I struggled to get out of the room (the handle was broken and the temporary fix didn't work), the smoke detector did not work, and there was no phone in the room (to call for help). Offered a third room in which that smoke detector did not work. The front desk acknowledged that phones and smoke detectors did not work. There was nothing they could do for us. We didn't stay here for safety reasons. Asked for a refund and was told no. Basically, they took our money and didn't provide a clean and/or safe room. As of mid-August 2023, hotel management and corporate said there was nothing they could do for us regarding a refund.

Got in late. Reserved a room with 1 King Bed, got one with two beds. Floors were sticky. After placed a towel on the floor to catch water while showering. When we picked it up it was brown on the side that was too the floor. Despite being non-smoking, the room smelled like cigarette smoke. Alarm clock was broken. Outlets on the night stand didn't work. No batteries in the TV remote. Only 1 wash cloth.

It said rooms were upgraded!! Walked in smelled like cat pee, chair looked like it was scratched up by a dog! The air conditioning was falling apart and had what looked like grass and dirt on it. Refrigerator didnt work the nob was broke and couldn't make it colder. bathroom I don't think was cleaned hair all over the shower. I had to buy clorox wipes to clean and wipe things off because it looked like it hadn't been. The only thing good was the front desk the lady was wonderful!

Alex and Nikki are the Diamonds in a rough situation over there. Amy doesn't know what the real purpose of her position is as a manager of someone else's company. She kicked out four kids, two with a disability...an elderly woman with mobility issues, and a mother trying to do everything in her power to find a new place for her family after their old place was no longer a livable place because of major water damage and holes that brought things in the house that shouldn't have been while paying almost a thousand dollars a month to be there. And she used an employee to do it AFTER we had already paid and were already checked in. She wasn't even there. The employee got her on the phone and she yelled and talked over us saying that we messed up the rooms, and when we said we had pictures, she told us to shut up because she didn't want to hear about pictures or something tastelessly demeaning and unprofessional like that. And it's something, if a customer talks recklessly, messes up the room, stays on the property past the time they're supposed to be there...they could face criminal charges, but if a manager talks rudely/degrading to a family, gives them a messed up room, kicks them off the property for no reason, and then keeps their money, nothing seems to be done. But something must be done because you can't keep $535.60 from a family and cause a host of other problems and not be held accountable. Not sure if this is a race thing or an ego thing, but either way, this is completely unacceptable and something must be done to make things right. Update 10/17/23: What you said is nice but you sharing my comment with the management team definitely didn't help rectify anything because when Priceline called yesterday, a woman answered who said she was a manager but that she's not giving her name, she's not going to cancel our reservation though it wasn't honored...and when the supervisor questioned her further, she hung up on them. You can call Priceline so they can tell you firsthand how rude this manager is. And in order for you to help my family and me, I need you to cancel the reservation that Priceline booked for us so that our money can be returned or give us four days at a different Red Roof. That will help some, but she has caused A LOT of drama and trauma. Our kids thought that adults were supposed to be adults, but they're seeing firsthand how cruel people can be and how they can use/abuse their "power/position" to hurt others who have done nothing to hurt them. And just to add this, we were good, faithful customers. We paid at least $4800+, not including taxes and fees, while we were there, and would have continued until we found a place. Why would a good manager make the company that they work for lose that kind of stress-free money...? Because we bothered no one. We just needed a place to stay while we looked for a house. We took out our own trash, made our own beds, took our bedding/towels to the laundry room, asked for a broom and dustpan so that we could sweep up our own floor... We did everything we could to be a blessing and not a burden on anyone. And because of that, we were treated and spoken nicely to by a lot of people there, staff and guests. And because we weren't a problem, we always got our incidentals back and they stopped holding incidentals for two rooms and just held it for only one room. If we would have trashed any rooms, they never would have done that and we wouldn't have gotten our incidentals back. So we don't understand how all of the respect just went out of the window two Sundays ago...? 10/22: No help, only lies. But My GOD Will Handle what man can't/won't.

On 10/8/23, we paid for four more days at 3:48AM through Priceline and we checked in around 4-something AM. We thought everything was good, but later on that morning, the manager sent an employee to knock on our door and tell us that we had to leave the property. We asked why, and she said because we trashed room 113. We said we have pictures, and she called the manager on the phone, and she yelled and talked over us. She told my friend to shut up when he was explaining to her that we have pictures. Then she tried to say that we broke the refrigerator Then she started saying we trashed the first room back in August. That room was scary (I have pictures.), but that was the only room available on the first floor and because my mom has back and leg issues, we didn't want to make her move again. So even when the lights went out that same day, we just stayed there in the dark until the maintenance guy came in the morning. And when we left the first time because our room was sold because of a concert, we came back the next day and no one told us that we damaged anything. We got our incidentals back and the assistant manager, Melinda, only held a one hundred dollar deposit instead of a $200 deposit even though we had two rooms. So we thought they were very nice and they thought the same about us. But fast forward to October 8th, now the manager was saying that we trashed their room in August. The front desk attendant said that it was just that the mattress was wet and that the floor was sticky. We have pictures of the room/beds. That morning there was a stain on the fitted sheet that went through to the mattress cover that we cleaned. That's the only wet part. We have a picture of the bed stripped and nothing is wrong with the bed. Then she tried to say that we didn't pay for Saturday and that Melinda told us we had to leave on Saturday, which is not true. On Friday, 10/6/23, we were trying to extend our stay as usual but we couldn't because all the rooms seemed to have been sold out online. So my friend went to the front desk to see if Alex, the night front desk attendant, saw any open availabilities. He told us to check in the morning with the morning manager, because they know how to override and do all of that. When we asked, they said they were overbooked by five people. We said ok and started looking for a different place to stay. Early Saturday morning, we still hadn't found a place. I asked my friend to get me a cup in the lobby, and when Alex saw my friend, he told him that he was able to save us one room. We asked how much, because rooms can triple in price when big events come to town, and he said $85.14. We paid and have the receipt. The front desk attendants were trying to talk to her on our behalf because they said we give them no problem, but she wouldn't answer their calls anymore. After talking with them, I believe she was mad because she told us that she was overbooked by five but we still got to stay. We didn't ask for any special treatment and we were totally shocked and happy when we were told that they saved a room for us.And so when the front desk attendants couldn't get her to answer their calls, they said we did have to go. But she never canceled our reservation, so we had to sleep in the uhaul. We were able to pay to stay at the Super 8, but we've had to keep the uhaul because this is an indoor hotel and we can't bring all of our things in. And we only were able to pay for three days because we need our money back to pay for the rest of the week. My friend had two seizures on Sunday because of all of the stress. I have four kids, two under 18...two with disabilities. My 72 year old mother is with me, who has leg and back issues. And yet she put us out after we paid without giving us a refund... look on my yelp review. I added pics of the so called trashed rooms!.

I had bugs in my room, the floors were not clean at all, stains on the beds, place stunk like smoke and the fridge that I've have to pay extra to get not only didn't work, the door fell right off. The fat GM wouldn't issue me a refund since I went through expedia. Then once I got my security deposit back i got my refund from expedia. I called to brag that I received my refund and see is a fat cow. She call me back and she took my security deposit out of my account because she was but hurt. It's ok they are coming for you and trust me they can't miss you.

Dude at the front desk was good but gave us keys for the room we reserved that was evidently previously occupied or occupied at 11:00 at night. Then the room that we did get I don't think was ever cleaned. There's a sock behind the door there 's pee on the bathroom floor. I don't think they've ever swept the carpet or cleaned any of the shelves. I guess that's what you get when you pay 66 bucks.

Advertised as freshly removed and non smoking only. Our two rooms reeked of smoke and the bathroom of urine..the shower controls were marginally operae and the tub drained ow enough to be standing over ankle deep in water. NEVER AGAIN

Driving through for the night have stayed at many red roofs before. Was given a room and we noticed there was blood stains on the sheets. Already upset, they assigned another room to us. It smelled like straight cigarette smoke and appeared to be a party next door very loud. We decided to leave and just after being so tired from driving all day and just call in the morning to see if they can make it right. Seems like they couldn’t care less about refunding us.. enough to where they said there wasn’t any blood stains they could find in the room. I’ve attached photos of the disgusting sheets with blood on them they “couldn’t find” Do better taking care of people this is unhealthy.

This place is the epitome of a facade. Looks nice in the pictures but is a complete mess. There were bugs on the floor, dust everywhere, a broken door, a shower head that came off, and a very rude receptionist with a huge temper. I would avoid this place at all costs. A room should not cost this much if it is in this condition.

It's 2023...what do you expect for $70 a night? Hot water? Check.. refrigerator, microwave, safe, check... Convenient to pa turnpike, and 379. Is it a 3 star hotel...nope. is it both convenient and value priced? Yes

Recently stayed here and the room and the location was great for what I had planned. However, the couple that argued ALL night outside on the balcony was not very courteous to myself and other guest were trying to sleep. Another gripe that I have is this hotel provides poop bags and I only saw myself pick up behind my dog. Others guest just left mountains of poop around the property if it were me I would keep their security deposit because that is disgusting. Other that it was a nice stay. Room was clean, both the AC and the heat worked, and fridge came in handy.

Nice looking, clean rooms with hardwood floors, front desk attendant was very friendly. I won't be too harsh since I did not ask for a new room, so they didn't have a chance to remedy the situation, but the shower drain backed up immediately and the hair dryer doesn't work. The elevator is also rickety enough to make me want to take the stairs every time. Overall: meh. You get what you pay for and it was a place to sleep when I needed one. Shop around for good prices though.

I just stayed here for one night and had no issues. The front desk lady was kind and friendly. I had an issue with my door on the 3rd floor and she quickly helped me. The room was clean, nothing to complain about. I wasn’t expecting to find a microwave oven and a fridge in the room. Some more expensive hotels in major cities didn’t have any so it was nice to have them although I didn’t have to use them for my 12-hour overnight stay. No breakfast but there was a coffee machine in the room as well as coffee/hot water and vending machine in the lobby. Most restaurants in the area close at 10pm but there is a Sheetz (open 24/7) and Taco Bell (open until 1am I believe) nearby. Overall no issues.

I was in Monroeville Christmas Eve. Temp was dropping by the minute and the wind, snow and freezing temperatures made me want to stay at a hotel. I decided on Red Roof because I had my chihuahua and pets are free. At the front desk was Melinda. As far as customer service goes she was top notch. The room was clean and the rooms had the look of you basic budget hotel. They salted the walkways and had the salt truck go thru quite a few times. That electric heat wasn’t my favorite and the room could have been a little warmer. But it was 1 degrees outside which is a little extreme. I’m sure that a regular day in Pittsburgh it would have been fine. So what I’m trying to say is. It’s a pretty good budget hotel. Front desk employee (Melinda) was top notch. If you had a problem she was right on top of it and was extremely customer service oriented. Much better than that rude big guy that used to work there. The room didn’t make me feel dirty. The bed was comfy and I got a good nights sleep. If your looking for a five star hotel, it’s not going to hold up against them. But if you want a comfy, clean room at a reasonable price this is the best in Monroeville. Thank you again, Melinda. Excellent help is hard to find and can make or break a stay. And you seem to have found a really good front desk employee. Keep up the good work.

Trying to figure out the "Plus!" I should have known better and stayed with a better brand, but my dad and sister were staying here so I gave in. Mistake! My room had kind of been cleaned. The bed was made but one of the pillows sat on an end table without a pillow case. The towels or hand soap had not been replenished. There was a circle of dirt in the tub. I didn't really ever feel welcomed by the staff. The guy I asked for towels and soap seemed annoyed by my showing up. My dad had a problem with the lock on his room and he was told there was nothing to be done until morning and that they would give him another room but that he would have to wait until morning for his stuff. I guess it was fortunate my sister was with him at the time. I would have probably broke the window. Telling an 83 year old man he has to live without his stuff is ballony. I believe you did get his stuff before the morning. My point is that it never should have been a question. This was just poor customer service. Next time I'll spen the extra money with someone that appreciates it instead of a place that takes me for granted

I stayed here with my family. I checked online for smoke free places and this was in the top. Checked in around 9pm and the room was terrible. Air conditioning doesn’t work. Bathroom door doesn’t have a lock. Bedsheets were smelling bad. On top of all these mentioned above the worst part was we smelled weed all night. When I complained about this next morning to the staff, they replied that as long as smoke alarms don’t turn ON they can’t do anything. I saw people smoking in the corridor all night. Wouldn’t Recommend to his place if you go with family and kids.

I had a clean room on the first floor. Everyone at the front desk was very accommodating and polite during my stay. The price was very decent. Given the 2 star status of this hotel, yes there were some things that were lacking. However, anytime I thought it was bad enough to say something about, they were very efficient at fixing the issue.

Totally recommend this place! I've stayed here for 1-3 weeks each summer for the last two years. The summer of 2021, I felt that I got what I paid for. Things were OK -- laundry working but door lock needed to be fixed, a bit of garbage overflow problem in the halls, but essentially OK. This summer the halls and walkways were clean, laundry unit was really clean, garbage collection was daily,. Even the elevator ceiling grill was clean. Lobby area smelled especially pleasant. Flowers outside lobby area were beautiful. Cleaning staff were energetic and helpful. Also noticed that, this year, cleaning staff did not try to stuff too many items in the commercial washers at one time. Could not have asked for anything more. Don't know how they do it, at half the price of other nearby hotels. Will not stay anywhere else if I am in the area.

Beds were comfy pillows were not. The floor was not very clean. Our socks were dirty after walking on it. The tub had mildew and hair in it and the walls needed cleaning. The location was convenient and we had a nice view from outside our room.

  • 1/5 L S. 2 years ago on Google
Rooms were dirty as an used tank top hung on the bathroom door. Something was stained on bathroom wall as it looked like it ran down the wall. Wash cloths were ripped and quite worn. Next morning, I think, cleaning person just unlocked door and opened it. Too much to type. This place needs major overhaul or just torn down. The lady who checked us in was the only bonus as she was polite and friendly. Actually, all 3 ladies smiled and were polite.

Nice quiet location close to the highway, but there was no refrigerator in our room. I don't know why this is called a Red Roof Plus, its a bare bones hotel. There is nothing plus about it. I would stay here again if absolutely necessary, there are decent grassy areas nearby to walk the dog after a long drive, but I prefer somewhere with a refrigerator and that is a bit cleaner.

I booked a superior room, for the upgraded bedding. Well worth the measly $10 extra. When I checked in they originally put me in the wrong room but the kind lady working the counter helped sort it quick enough. Our room was clean and I liked the adjustable shower head. Some small problems bugged me. We had two lights above the bed and one wasn't working. I had a lot of trouble with the TV remote and the sink faucet head would slowly drip.

  • 1/5 Spencer C. 5 months ago on Google • 2 reviews
I've stayed at this Red Roof several times with usual success, but this recent stay was so ridiculous it has made me consider staying elsewhere in the future. Price was definitely over the quality of the room. I don't need a fancy place to stay, but the mattress was half collapsed and half set in concrete. The sink was backed up and the clerk could only offer half a bottle of liquid plumber, didn't resolve the issue so it was functionally useless. The sheets and towels must have been used to change the oil of a large commercial vehicle. Of the seven total beds i booked, two didnt even have pillows. The entire key card system failed and all four rooms I booked had to have the keys reset. One fridge was on full cold, but was room temperature and strongly smelled of mold. Several guests were overbooked and refused service. How does that happen in 2023? Overall, camping in my SUV or sleeping on the asphalt would have been more comfortable and less of a hassle.
