How am I supposed to entertain my child in your 9 hours wait time schedule! People often mention hospital, hours, time, doctor, emergency, wait, waiting, staff, doctors, children,

THE WORST HOSPITAL IN MONTRÉAL. No attention at all. They don't even have a triage nurse. Endless waiting hours. Zero respect to Montrealers, zero respect to all the people who pay and contribute with the rotten medical care system for babies in this building. They said that respect is a must but they don't respect Montreal citizens. This is worst than a third world country.

I’m not from Afghanistan, but I’m pretty sure I would get better service on time then here. With all the tech we have why this is still happening? After 15.5 hrs of wait time doctor took 3min 57sec to say everything is fine with my kid. And after 2 days we are still dealing with it. My heart is broken with this system/politics I rather pay for better private care by driving in U.S. God bless you all!!

Terrible experience! My 10 years old daughter had a seizure and we brought her at 11am to the emergency room. The staff was very rude. We waited for 3.5 hours and no doctor or nurse even showed up, they kept telling us they are coming soon but we completely lost trust in the staff. As US citizens we had to pay 1000$ for the hospital visit. What a scam! We ended up leaving the hospital without seeing a nurse or doctor. We got refunded 850$ but still paid 150$ for just having stepped into this terrible place. Next time in an emergency we will drive back to the US as we never experienced such horrific hospitals. If anyone knows any private pediatric urgent care in Montreal.

Montreal's slowest emergency. I waited nearly 18 hours.... had to call in sick for work... all because there aren't enough doctors in the ER. As a Nurse I can definitely say our Healthcare system is heading down the sewage system or the Doctors really just don't care. Either way... this is the ABSOLUTE last resort to go to. Sorry to say... I respect everyone but I didn't have a good experience here. Not at all.

Just right now . I was at the pre triage. The lady was laughing at me and in a mocking way she tells me are you ready to wait at least 12 hours. Was like you better leave with your sick child. Unbelievable service . Not recommended Today I confirm.. the worst hospital. What are they paid for? I want to know why I pay taxes ? Where are the services that I pay for? Today I waited one more time with my 12 months old son who has a 40.9 degrees for almost 8 hours. And we were not even called to see anyone? That's horrible and pathetic.

Probably the best hospital for children's (st Justine is equivalent) . When you have something serious or need specialist this is the place. Most people complaining waiting forever usually are less serious cases ( not saying they aren't sick. But vs the need of a specialist for a life threatening sickness..) Went a few times for surgery. Follow ups and specialized test. Always wonderful

The emergency at this hospital is poor. At night it’s really bad. Long hours waiting, not enough staff, and disorganization when it comes to levels of emergency. The emergency department needs more doctors, and faster service. When I went yesterday, they said it could take eleven hours. People started leaving with their kids, myself included. When you try to ask a question on how long it will take after waiting several hours, they get defensive and start using intimidation tactics. They start to say no aggression or disrespect towards staff when parents simply want to know what the update is. Intimidation used because their service is poor. Divide the emergency into two sections; those that are more urgent 1to 3, and less urgent 4 to 5, and hire more doctors. No wait should be more than 3 hours with a hospital that has so much money. A shame in a supposedly first world country.

There needs to be a deep dive investigation done with this hospital. An audit needs to be done to see how the emergency room is being run. It doesn’t make sense how slow the service is. If the hospital was packed I would understand but you are not. In a period of 2.5 hours only 3 kids seen a doctor and left. No wonder people are waiting 10, 12 hours or longer. If you can avoid this hospital at all costs. Go to a clinic, drive to Ontario but avoid coming here.

The ER team in children's hospital are amazing. They saved my kids few times and they are super professional. The website wait or Go is also an amazing tool to know how many people are waiting in the ER. Thank you ER team. The parking is quite expensive but convenient.

Worst hospital in the world. Staff are not human. And the nurses act like their queens. Every time you ask how much time they say you should be lucky to be their. Wait times are 10 hours+ and the hospital smells very bad. They treat patients like garbage . Even if it’s an emergency it will take many many hours. Please do not go. I wish their were negative stars.

Its pathetic. Under the name of free medical service they are playing with sick kids. My son has 102 fever and no one is giving any medicine to him. No one is attending. Its better to shut down this type of service and open more private hospitals. At least after paying we will get some services. I have been waiting more than 2hours and there is not a single doctor or nurse who can check my son.

An incredibly efficient, reliable, and clean place..., even during a pandemic. I would never take my children anywhere else unless they would bleed out. The Montreal Children's Hospital is a teaching hospital, which necessitates all medical personnel to be as good as they can be to foster education.

I picked up my 5 years old son from school with a broken nose at 5 and he was bleeding non stop for 3 hours. The hospital didn’t offer us any first aid at all, I was afraid that he was going to faint eventually. I took him back home to take care of him myself. I have been paying taxes in this country for the last 17 years and I cannot even access healthcare in urgent times. This is unacceptable and inhuman. Canada is in major downgrade and nobody is holding these careless nurses accountable

I went there with my 2 year's old girl on July 26, the wait time to see a doctor was not bad total 3.5 hours, however the doctor said that my child needed to see a doctor...??? B.S. I mean I took my child to a children hospital where there are suppose to have children doctors on duty (pediatricians) and the doctor referred my daughter to a pediatrician and we are in October and still we have not received any called yet for any referral appointment, no prescriptions, no treatment no nothing, just go and die at home, health system here in Quebec is worst than 3erd world country This week a took my other 6 months old baby and the wait time to see a doctor was 8 hours...

Worst Hospital! The Staff are not human, I brought my baby for an emergency case and I really regret. The emergency room was full capacity and the place was very stinky and smelly. I couldn’t change my baby’s diaper, because of the washrooms was very dirty and disgusting. There was vomit in the floor and no one couldn’t cleaned it. When I ask the security he told me that they are missing staff. So he just put a blanket on the vomit and a sign saying that the floor is wet. Imagine what kind of virus you can get from this place, not a Covid virus but worst. You or your baby can definitely get a bad virus and be very sick. Anyways I just ran away from this place. Seriously I don’t understand how parents can stay in this hospital waiting more then 10 hours with their kids in a stinky and dirty place. Very Very disappointed, if I can give no star rating for this hospital that will be great.

My 3 month old baby was sick and I went to the emergency as the 811 said. Obviously emergency the waiting is really long. I was there for 4h and my baby was crying non stop (took a mini nap). the reason why I am writing this is because with the pandemic we can’t even have someone with us and i was overwhelmed. I was literally waving and the nurses were making eye contact and never came to see me NEVER! They kept talking to each other laughing like if they couldn’t see me. For those if ever gonna see this is the staff inside the emergency (17.07.2021-12am-5am) you get paid just don’t ignore us.

Baby had fever over 100 for 2 days. Lethargic. Wont eat or drink. Barking cough. Not a priority? Seriously if that isnt it then unless you are bleeding, dead or broke something you wont see anyone at the emergency.

Worst kids hospital ever in Montreal. Deserve a 0 star. Came for a 9 month baby for emergency for hard trouble breathing and had to wait for 2 hours before seeing a triage nurse. Came to see the pre-triage nurse 2 times and at the end she forgot to assign us to triage. After seeing triage nurse we waited again 3 hours to see the doctor. The nurse at triage very rude and had zero empathy. Doctor was very good. Overall avoid this hospital for baby or kids emergency.

Went here with my 11 year old daughter who had fever 39.5 for 7 days. They checked us in and said wait for triage. 1 hour later I asked how long is the wait as my daughter was feeling really sick (fever 39.5C) And they said wait time for triage is 4 hours and then another 3 to see a doctor... they didn't warn about long wait time when we checked in. I knew it would be a wait, but not 7! Hours. I left. I feel that my daughter is better off at home resting instead of sitting all night in a weighting room. Never again going here. Better off calling 911 if things get really bad.

Went to emergency at 10PM, met the doctor at 10AM. After the first meeting, I had to wait another hour to get my son some med. Doc asked me to wait another 30 minutes for the last diagnosis. Waited until 12:30 PM, had to leave for work because I could only use a half day off. They called me at 1:00 PM to ask where I am...well at work? I took down some notes : 1-from 4:15 AM (last time a patient was called) to 6:00 AM, no patient was called to enter a room. Probably there was no doctor available? 2- when I asked about the approximate wait time, a nurse told me around 8 hours. after 8 hours I asked again about the wait time, another nurse said now it's about 9 hours. 3- They have lots of screens but no significant information. It's not hard to make an automated system to display patients' names and assigned room numbers.

The hospital management team should be ashamed of itself. Having unfortunately been here multiple times over the last month I can assure you there is no “short wait” times, only 5 hour minimum from time of registration to first seeing a doctor, and often 8+. Severe cases still are hours until first seen. And then extensive waits for testing, follow up with the doctor, etc. And doctors are hesitant to order multiple tests, often wanting to do one (urine for example), wait a long time for results, then order blood work, wait a long time for results, etc. Instead of just doing broad testing to begin with to get a proper diagnosis (like other hospitals I’ve been to do). The waiting areas are over capacity, with contagious coughing children packed into small waiting areas. My daughter and I got gastro our last visit here because of this. I’ve been to children’s hospitals in other provinces and this is BY FAR the worst I’ve ever seen, not even the same ballpark. I would guess staff levels are 50% or less from where they need to be to get to what most people would consider “acceptable” wait times and service let alone GOOD. Truly a horrifying experience every time I’ve come here. Avoid at all costs if you can. And if anyone from MUHC reads this, PLEASE do something. When the entire waiting room is full 24 hours a day on a regular basis and all anyone can talk about is how slow this place is, you obviously have a serious problem.

The mental trauma my family had visiting this hospital is to the point just the thought of it makes me shiver. My 2 years daughter had fracture and we waited 13 hours to be seen. The hospital only serves one purpose to keep the management happy not the patients or parents. When we tried to check on doctor waiting time the nurse yelled saying there are more severe cases and emergency . I get it but what I don't get it is emergency is meant to have severe cases and if the medical system so messed up that everyone has to wait 12 hours average then it should not be called emergency. Now the sad part is doctors are decent and facility is good . But access to them is next to impossible. I and here tonight for my daughter head bruise and we just hope it's not a fracture or something worse . But if only we get to see a doctor soon we will be able to sleep in peace. I am sure it is going take 10hrs before I will get to see a doctor tonight too.

The triage will work based on the severity of the patient decided by a receptionist (without asking and checking properly) If u don’t say u have severe pain u have to wait all day long by seeing 100’s of patients going before you.your turn will come only when they don’t have patients coming in which is stupid. I waited almost 10 hrs (I saw 60 people going before me)and didn’t see the doctor Good luck guys 0 stars if possible

Went for my 3 week old who had a fever. This hospital is worth travelling to. Amazing care, super nice staff and doctors. They have the pediatrician with the medical team come see you every morning. I was really impressed with how attentive and caring they were. They also give you a number to reach them if you have any questions after discharge. I'll never go anywhere else for my kids.

Today I figured out the reason for the 3-star rating, it's not because of the hospital itself, but because of the professionals (if I can say that he is professional)... my 8 month old baby had a fever of 40ºC, due to the time I had no choice other than going to the emergency... the triage guy asked when the fever atarted, I said whe it started and he replied, urgency means 5 days of fever, that's why it's crowded here because they're all misinformed. I said: the baby is only 8 month old with a 40 degree fever. He said: it doesn't matter if he is a baby or if he is 5 years old, fever is fever... he measured the fever and heartbeat and asked, what do you want? I had no answer to the stupid question, so he asked, do you want me to medicate him? I spoke logically and thought: I didn't come here because I like spending the night in the hospital... I left the room and left the hospital... how can there be "professionals" like that working with the public, a guy like that doesn't deserve to have contact with the public, or at least needs to be re-educated...

I went to the children’s hospital for some extremely serious emergencies. Both times I was placed in the yellow and red zones, and in both doctors began treatment on me instantly. The doctors and nurses are very polite and understanding. Was admitted into observation, I had two life saving emergency surgeries and was in hospital for a month. I am forever thankful for the doctors and nurses who saved my life.

Our youngest daughter has been followed by Children’s team since she was 18 months old. She has seen one of their top neurologists, a speech therapist an OT, has had to get extensive blood work done, an MRI, and so on … I have no complaints. The staff is amazing, I couldn’t have asked for more. So grateful to them and all they have done to make this place like home for Z.

One of the best hospitals for children’s , compared to the other children’s hospitals around the area. Yes ,in the emergency the waiting time is sometimes bit long but it all depend on your child’s health condition and also when you compared to the other hospitals the time is lot less. With my experiences (not one but with many visits ) all the staff members (security to doctors ) were really caring and supportive. When we are talking about a children’s hospital ,It is a must to describe the waiting area facilities ,as with the waiting that’s where you need to keep and comfort your child until the consultation, in that case the Montréal children’s hospital accommodates and facilitates you and your child with many of your needs. So this is my opportunity to express my gratitude towards the hospital and the staff for their service and would like to wish them more strength to serve many more in the future. Thank you very much

Hospitals, clinics, doctors offices, etc all warn patrons that rudeness, impatience, etc will not be tolerated. It's time all these places including the Montreal children's hospital advise their, triage personnel and others that the same warnings apply to them also.

It's a challenge to take any type of appointment. No calls back, no follows up, despite you fax the consultation requests on multiple times. You need to keep trying and trying and trying to reach somebody for the information. Horrible!!! when you realize that you need a help for your child!!! The doctors may be professional, but you always feel like a NUMBER to them. Disappointed every time :( A MIRROR OF QUEBEC MEDICAL SERVICE :(

My 3 years old had to go through surgery, and the team was AMAZING. They were very preventive and attentive. They took care of our little one, and they took care of us too, im glad they refused me to go in the operation room with my son until he gets the general anesthesia because I think I wouldnt be able to support it and the doctor(cant remember her name) was right and she saw through us. Her care, her dedication, and her gentleness were a big part of our experience. She is algerian and worked with Dr. Emil. If she can see this message, thank you so much! Dr. emil was referred to us as one of the best in his field, and he really is amazing at what he does, and he explained things very easily for us to understand and is so professional. The anesthesiologist was so sweet, too! They really understand the parents' need, and this is why their department is amazing.

The service we received for our newborn was pretty great. Waiting time wise some days are better than others but the staff is amazing (doctors, nurses, cleaning). We'll see how we feel once our baby grows up and we have to wait in the general waiting area and no longer in the baby area, but for now, we are satisfied!

Sitting here in 2nd floor waiting room November 6th.. cleaning staff is on strike and overran the family sitting area on strike swearing and laughing about being in a wheelchair. Cussing out hospital, mumbling about bedbugs in the hospital and whining about strike. Just what we want to hear when waiting for an appointment... they should all be fired...

They said the wait time is 1.5 hours we’ve been here for 3 hours and when I asked for help one of the staff said : it’s not appropriate to look through the window. Well i don’t think it’s appropriate to tell what is appropriate for a mom of an injured child.

I would like to express my gratitude to Dr. Sherif Emil (Professor of Surgery and Pediatrics, Director Division of Pediatric Surgery) @lechildren and all the the staff of the Montreal Children's Hospital/McGil University Health Centre for the operation (appendix removal surgery 19 may 2023). Your hospital is incredible. Every hospital employee treats the patient as a loved one. I experienced an incredible kindness towards myself during my stay in the hospital. Every detail in the hospital is thought out to the smallest detail and creates the atmosphere not of a hospital, but of a hotel. Dr. Sherif Emil is one of the best children's hirirugs in North America and I am convinced of this. Thank you, Doctor! I will always remember you. Sincerely, Boris Dubovitckii

I wish emergency Doctors and Nurses have training about autistic kids. I went there because my 5 years old daughter is vomiting, has high fever, coughing and congestion for almost 5 days. You can see clearly in her face that she is dehydrated (sunken eyeballs, lose weight and elevated heart rate and pain while walking). Coughing is non stop it's even impossible for her to drink or eat. After xray they found pneumonia and prescribed oral antibiotic, I told them in this state of my child she needs to have an IV first, now the doctor tried to ask me usual thing about the urine etc.. I told her my child only peed once and very small quantity, she told me she needs 1 day without peeing to be dehydrated, are you kidding me? Do I need to wait for my child to get worst? I also told them that my child is autistic and has limited diet and choices of liquids due to sensory issues and that pushing fluids often times will not be succesfull ended up throwing up more. Finally, I came back second time and there's one doctor that listens to me eventhough I still need to stand my ground that my child needs IV.

I went for my two babies. They were 40 degrees hot and coughing. We waited and finally it was our turn and the doctor said it could take 15 days and sent us. I used so many fever-reducing syrup that the children's eyes were swollen, they had allergies. I told the doctor, he said it could be. We came to our brother, my 2 babies are also 39 degrees fever and give syrup again, now I will go to another hospital in the morning. I went to this hospital 4 times and I waited for 5 hours, they say there is no result, zero. Wait, it will pass. Are you kidding us? There was a middle-aged, slightly overweight brown skinned security at the door, he spoke by officially scolding us because we wore the mask upside down. What a rude!

Truly exemplary service!! As grandparents bringing in our 20 month old granddaughter whose parents were abroad, it was such a comfort to deal with so many understanding, compassionate, helpful staff. Switchboard staff who went above and beyond to help, housekeepers who kept coming thru to check on things as well as the nursing in triage and physician resident who were professional, pleasant and caring of both our granddaughter AND us. The last star is only left off because of the waiting time, which is a sad, but a true fact of life these days. More staff, both in the hospital sector and in the communities is the only cure for that. Again, thanks team!!

I have been bringing my 3 kids there every time there is an emergency. Always the VERY best care by a team of excellent doctors and nurses! Wouldn’t trust the care of my kids to anyone else when there is an emergency. The BEST children’s hospital, hands down.

Worst emergency room, understaffed, and everything takes hours upon hours.. stay healthy is better option. You can get sick just from waiting in the waiting room.

7 HOUR WAIT for us, my 2 year old was screaming in pain about her ear and she had a fever for 4 days straight. Receptionist did not ask any questions, she just heard 'fever' and sent me to wait. How come a 4 day fever is not severe enough to be seen sooner?

I extend my heartfelt gratitude to the entire staff at this hospital for their outstanding care of our children. I brought my son in on Tuesday afternoon after a fall that left him in critical condition. The team of compassionate professionals swiftly took action, providing exceptional treatment and contributing significantly to his recovery. I couldn't have asked for better care, and everyone we encountered demonstrated exceptional commitment. I want to express a special thank you to the nurse who assisted me in the parking garage to get my son to triage. I remember that you weren't a staff member at the hospital and may have been there for personal reasons. Your assistance was invaluable, and I am truly grateful. We need more individuals like you in the world.

I went there when I was a kid a couple of years ago, I had gotten an allergic reaction on my thigh. Tell me why the doctor brought 2 medical students in the room without even asking my mother or I for consent? I understand that I was just a kid, maybe 8-9 years old but still. Did I not deserve bodily autonomy? Furthermore, the wait times are ridiculous, no one ever answers the phone and there’s never anyone available. I once called to see if the Dermatology department was open and it said yes, I go to the hospital and the entire department is closed with not one employee in sight. C’est ridicule honnêtement.

This ER has a good system in place and sees patients very quickly when possible. It's very clean and the receptionists and medical staff have all been kind and thorough. However the two girls working registration on Jan 6 (approx 8pm) were extremely unprofessional. Not only did they seem inconvenienced to do their job but they swore and gossiped the whole time (loudly and without a care in the world) and sang/played music so loudly I couldn't hear the names being called on the speakers. Their behaviour would be unprofessional anywhere but it was exceptionally inappropriate considering this was a room full of sick children. Frankly I was disgusted and a bit disturbed by their lack of sensitivity and compassion.

😠 Fantastic hospital, most of the hospital employees are committed to their work, sadly some of them are only going to collect their salary and do not really have a spirit of service with the little patients. When I took my daughter because they transferred her from another hospital as an emergency,...
