👍 A pretty nice landmark, a lot of Montrealer called it a ring du coq in English and it does ressemble. 5 million dollars ! Kinda expensive, but it’s art, so Enjoy your photos. Don’t forget to go to the ferry wheel as well on HenriBourassa and pie ix. People often mention Montreal, ring, Ring,

The latest addition to the Montreal street art scene is L'anneau, the Ring. This huge artifact, for lack of a better description, is a big tourist draw. Visible from the plaza of Place Ville Marie or from Ste Catherine Street downtown, this is bound to be a popular conversation piece with fans and detractors. I liked it mostly because it gave me new perspectives to photograph. Its host, Place Ville Marie, has also regained relevance at a time when it was losing ground to newer and shinier competitors.

This is a contemporary art that belongs in the streets of a modern city. A simple element, amazing creation that creates interesting views and the identity of the place. I like it very much, the rendering is really first class. I definitely recommend everyone to visit this place when visiting Montreal.

This was so fun there was so much people tho on holidays and weekends but if you continue more there is a lot of good restaurants and good places to eat and clothing stores so this was so fun for me and my family I would recommend it and the photos ended up so good!

It’s an interesting concept. The ring should look better at night with the lights on. There are some construction going on in front of the ring. It would be good to pass by but not is a necessity to travel far and see.

The biggest O you'll probably get to see in this city! You probably can't have a big O like that yourself, probably smaller o's but enjoy the pic of a "O".

The 23 tons (50,000 pounds) and 30 meters in diameter floated over the Esplanade of Place Ville Marie as a gateway to the city. The realization of the Ring took nearly two years of work. The Ring itself is intended to be a window on more than 200 years of history, establishing a direct view from the Queen Elizabeth Hotel and the PVM Esplanade to McGill University, the former Royal Victoria Hospital and Mount Royal. In addition, the night lighting of the Ring will echo another Montreal symbol, the illuminated cross of Mont-Royal, further evoking the historical importance of the heritage buildings built along this important axis of downtown Montreal

I don’t understand it. Urban Montreal design has way more potential than a huge metal ring at the entrance of an always empty, dead concrete lot.
