I normally go to the Zankou Chicken in Pasadena and I know that location has great food. Since Montebello is closer to me I decided to give it a shot. Not the same. My family and I were disappointed. Food took long to get served. Food was cold. Other patrons we're complaining of the wait time as well. I'm not sure if the workers were just having a bad evening. I'm willing to give this place one more shot. Hopefully my next visit will be better.

Hello everyone. Zankou chicken is some amazing chicken. I recommend the half chicken combo. This place is popular, so get here early before lunch and dinner. There's plenty of parking outside, but spaces fill up quick. Staff is friendly, and will help explain menu items for first time visitors. This location sells Spanish style salsa (Picodegallo). Horrible service and food was not up to par. Chicken was dry and bland. The guy taking my order forgot to let the cook know about my order even though I was sitting directly in front of the counter. It wasn’t until I asked about my order that it started to get done. I left and double checked my order since the cashier seemed out of it and sure enough, he forgot to put any garlic in the bag including the extra one I purchased.

Quality is slipping recently, less food, rice that is dry or undercooked, less seasoning then there should be on the meat or in the hummus (especially a lack of garlic), "forgetting" to give the garlic sauce when they tell you it is in the bag. If the trend continues I will stop going to this location, which is a travesty since this used to be one of the best ones around.

Love their garlic sauce and beef kebab!! But the Rotisserie chicken was nothing to write home about.

I ordered a beef kebab -chicken Luleh combo when I got home they gave me a chicken kebab instead , both were dry no flavor what's so ever. I also notice they had a new cook. I can say I've been there more than 20 times and always enjoyed my food there, service always good!!

For having multiple locations the food is always amazing. Great quality at each place. The streak and chicken are always cooked perfect. The garlic spread is a must have.

The food was good. The sevixexwas just ok. There were a lot on small flying bugs in the restroom. The a/c was out of order. They were out most of the soft drinks syrups at the soda dispensing machine. The front door was wide open allowing for more flying bugs to enter the restaurant.

First time at the location, took it to go we were excited & hungry to eat . This place is the worst food ever, the turnips were brownish color , looking old , rice DId NOT taste good, chicken is dry . Our money went to waste , very disappointing .

For the most part, they do a good job. The food has been good 90% of the time. I had one bad experience when I got under cooked chicken kabob. I was not about to go complain for a $20 plate, but, I did tell them next time I ordered. Just sometimes some of the younger boy & girl can be a bit sloppy & don't answer phones. I live a few blocks from here so I order often.

This place has the best food on the planet seriously you cannot go wrong with anything but the tri-tip is amazing. Joe is the best manager I've ever seen and he reminds me of home. I'm from New York. Hospitality is five stars you'd be crazy not to eat here

Stopped by for lunch. Tried the beef shawarma wrap and later the chicken wrap. Wraps are average, but very small. Prepare to order a second just to get your fill. No French fries on the menu…this is Un-American ;-) Not recommended if you’re looking for anything above average or filling.

Being that we saw a Zankou chicken open close by was def not a treat as we had hoped for. This location was messy and the Shawarma plate was driest of meats possible. All other locations have been great but this one was a joke. Do yourself a favor and make the drive to any other Zankou but this one.

If you like dry chicken, then you'll love this place. I've ordered from the Montebello Zankou (via delivery app) at least 3 times in so many months and each time the chicken has been very dry. I'm not sure if they're trying too hard to make the outer part of the chicken crispy, but it is causing the chicken to overcook each time. Unfortunately, I can't justify ordering from this location anymore. The other option for me is to order from the Zankou in Pasadena, but it is a bit more expensive because of the delivery distance. But at this point, I no longer mind paying extra. Keep in mind that all zankous restaurants are not run the same. The Montebello Zankou is definitely not run like the others because none of the other Zankous serve dry, overcooked chicken. Whatever family member ended up controlling the Montebello Zankou restaurant, they are definitely not living up to the standards of the other Zankou locations. If you've only eaten Zankou at the Montebello restaurant, I challenge you to try the chicken at another Zankou location. I'm confident you will immediately notice the difference in the chicken.
