Even though this restaurant is managed by black individuals as a black person I would not eat here. Management told me that one of the members within our party wasn’t within their dress code but we witness multiple white people not dressed to the standard they were expecting us to followed. Once the others were pointed out due to their attire not following the dress code that we were told to follow the manger proceed to tell us they have the discretion to pick and choose who eats at the restaurant. I don’t mind following rules, but it’s a problem when they pick and choose who follows them.

My family and I had dinner here and it was the best meal experience we had in Jamaica. The outdoor setting was gorgeous with all the tropical plants and trees, and the meal was presented beautifully and tasted delicious. Service was unbelievable- so attentive and thoughtful from start to finish!

The food is top notch. This is a fancy restaurant if anything, but even then many of the prices are reasonable. Some of the prices seemed a little too much, but the staff and food were excellent.

From the moment we walk in the surroundings and how they greet you once you get out the car was the best. The food and drinks were delicious. Would definitely recommend and will definitely be back.

We came to celebrate a friend's birthday. We arrived behind schedule, but we were accommodated immediately, which we appreciated. The restaurant's focus is service, and that was evident in all the detail. From the bread service, amuse bouche and down to crumbling tables. It was the food, however, that did not hit the mark for us. The breadfruit gnocchi were dense and tough, the oxtails ravioli were bland, and the pork belly special was rubbery and the fat undercooked. Considering the prices at this restaurant we were highly disappointed with the food overall. I have to note that there were many steps taken to recover by the chef and managers. The dish we did not eat was removed from the check. But we didn't come to this restaurant to send dishes back. We came to leave with full bellies, but instead, we left, wanting just a little more.

My husband and I had the most wonderful experience here. The decor and atmosphere is so beautiful and the staff is warm, excellent and personable. Shirley gave us a wonderful experience. The flavors of all the dishes we tried were so balanced but complex. The cocktails are subtle and delicious as well. This is the nicest place to celebrate a happy occasion.

Went with a work colleague, the experience was great. The ambience was a bit on a the romantic side, dimly lit lights on each table and on the trees on the property. The service was excellent, we had a number of different servers, and the manager even came to ask how was the experience. I will be going back for sure. A bit pricey but worth it.

Omg! Everyone must stop here… we had a late dinner here with friends, and enchanting was the first thing that came to mind upon arrival. Do not cheat yourself the opportunity to dress to the nines for this beautiful experience. All of our meals were impeccable and the service was splendid.

Absolutely amazing dining experience! Found this restaurant on Tik-Tok and it did not disappoint at all. Service was crazy good and they made accommodations for our party's dietary needs and even made off the menu items per request just by notifying our server of the ingredients. If you're in Montego Bay please do yourself a favor and dine in here, you will not be disappointed! Additionally, they label their menu according to dietary restrictions inclusive of dairy free, vegan, vegetarian, gluten free, etc.

Historical place- that sets the perfect mood for dinner. I'm vegetarian and gluten free and I was overwhelmed with how many exciting and delicious options there were. I also love spice and they went above and beyond to meet every expectation. We celebrated my husband's birthday and they went the extra mile with birthday dessert as well as additional takeaways(macaroons, chocolate truffle, etc). Excellent wine selection including our favorite French bottles. Service was impeccable and friendly. Highly recommend for everyone. Compliments to staff and chef who came to our table to personally greet us.

My husband and I dined last month for our anniversary, and we thoroughly enjoyed our experience. Our waitress and the assistant manager were so kind; all of the staff made us feel like Sugar Mill was the best restaurant to celebrate our anniversary.

Everything about this restaurant is exactly what you want for in an intimate date night. The servers are excellent and are very attentive to your every need. The food simply aligns with what's already laid out with the atmosphere and service.

The service was exceptional. Attentive and knowledgeable waiters and waitresses, as well as manager (assistant). The food was also delicious and well presented.

We enjoyed the experience. Servers were excellent. Some snooty people, but easy to ignore. Drinks were extremely expensive. Main meal was excellent, but expensive. Appetizers were expensive and also not enough for even one person. Desserts were nothing special. Would think at a restaurant like this, they would be very good at the minimum. Would go back for the main meal for a special occasion.

Visited here during restaurant week and my oh my was my palate pleased. Everything was sumptuous and carefully prepared. The ambience was also exceptionally romantic and cozy. The visit was worth every penny and more.

AMAZING! Just all around great. From the establishment all the way to the food, everything was perfect. Best meal hands down in Jamaica. I’ve tried a lot of food in all types of places and this one was up there with some of the best I’ve tried. Must try!

Horrible experience. My brother wasn’t wearing the “appropriate shorts” and me and my mo her and him were not allowed in. A family of 4 walked by with the oldest son not wearing a collar in his shirt even and he was let in. They felt they could do this to us because we didn’t have a father so they were less intimated. It was very obvious and they were horrible and nasty about it. This was my 3rd time here as well. Very disappointed and will never come back.

Best meal of my life! We got the wagyu steak and the lobster and it was cooked perfectly. The staff is super nice and they really take care of you. Highly recommend!

As a US service member I have traveled the world and had the lucky experience to never been discrimination against. Unfortunately, Sugar Mill Restaurant, Montego Bay decided that they should break that streak. The security guard supposedly named "Sheldon" asked my wife if she was Indian when deciding to let us in. The manager "Robert" did everything he could to resolve the issue, however, no one, including the security guard could explain why my wife's race was relevant to letting us in. The manager (robert), assistant manager and hostess distanced themselves from the contracted security guard, however, it spoiled our vacation to this island. It's a pity because it's our 2nd time to this island and the most uncomfortable experience.

Very delicious! This is a $$$ restaurant so it’s not cheap but it’s delicious food. We had the oxtail ravioli (fantastic), shrimp trio, Grilled meat fire thing, coffee crème brûlée and rum raisin ice cream. Cute atmosphere.

My daughter was celebrating her 24th birthday at the Sugar Mill Restaurant located in the Half Moon Hotel with friends in Montego Bay, Jamaica. I wanted to surprise her and her friends with a New York style strawberry cheesecake. I called the Hotel and spoke with Brittney Spence Concierge Agent and she made it happen. Top notch service from beginning to end of the meal. We walked over from the golf course to make a reservation for our anniversary on Tuesday and the asst manager, Kerisha, informed us they are closed on Tuesdays. We made the best of a bad situation and had dinner that night. We arrived about 30 minutes before they opened and Presley served us drinks, his margaritas are simply amazing! Shirley, our waitress, provided excellent service. They even surprised us with an anniversary dessert and sang a song. That was a pleasant surprise. Thank you! Lastly, the short ribs fell off bones and the ribeye melted in your mouth. The best way I can describe the meal is, it was mmm mmm good!!!! You have to experience it for yourself, no words can fully describe the moment. It is a little pricey but worth every penny!

I honestly could not find anything negative about the restaurant. From the moment you arrive there is a gentleman opening your car door and welcoming you to the restaurant. The staff were friendly and very attentive. The food presentation was impeccable and it did not dissapoint, every meal was great and flavorful. We shared Oxtail Ravioli as an appetizer, my friend had rack of lamb and I had the beef rib-eye. We shared sides of roasted potatoes and fried kale. I wish I took pictures of all the food.. It was my friend's birthday and I had mentioned this on the phone when making reservations and I was very impressed that they remembered and they brought out a cake on the house for him and the staff came and sang happy birthday. We were too full to order any deserts but I am sure if we did it would have been great. They even called our taxi guy to pick us up. This is a pricey restaurant but the whole experience and the food makes it all worthy in my opinion.

Pace yourself so that you have room and time to enjoy appetizers through desserts, it is truly worth it! Oxtail ravioli was phenomenal. Ambiance was really romantic. Wine was great . Maitai was good as well. There could be a little more lighting. The service is impeccable.

I arrived on time for my reservation and my family and i were promptly seated underneath the water wheel. We were taken on a culinary journey from appetizer to desert. words can hardly describe the tastes of the different dishes. Each presentation of a dish was preceded by a short introduction which added to the experience. My wife had the slow cooked jerk beef short ribs. i was assured that she had never tasted anything like it in her life. i had the Solomons Brochette which was set on fire at my table. Amazing

I would advise black people to stay away from this restaurant, its not for us. Upon arrival we were told they don't allow shorts or ripped jeans so I could not enter due to my ripped jeans. Our party of 5 had to sit and wait for about 15 minutes for the manager to make an "exception" after telling them we traveling all the way from Negril. While dining we observed MULTIPLE people entering in both shorts and ripped jeans without any issues, the only difference is that they had a different skin color. I don't mind rules but you cant pick and choose who should follow them. The classism in Jamaica is still very active and quite frankly, very disgusting.
