The
room
I
booked
was
on
the
first
floor,
which
means
that
any
visitor
or
guest
who
was
at
the
fire
pits
could
see
directly
into
my
room,
unless
I
closed
the
blinds
fully,
in
which
case
there
was
no
longer
access
to
the
“ocean
view”
that
made
the
room
$400+
per
night.
More
importantly,
as
a
solo
traveler,
the
most
critical
factor
to
lodging
is
safety.
Unfortunately,
my
room
did
not
have
a
working
dead
bolt.
The
first
night,
I
slept
so
terribly
because
I
knew
that
there
was
a
security
risk
to
anyone
who
might
see
me
in
there
along,
and
break
in
(surrounding
area
is
a
bit
gritty).
In
addition,
the
room
is
already
dimly
lit,
but
one
of
the
lamps
did
not
work.
So
as
soon
as
the
blinds
had
to
be
closed,
I
was
in
the
semi-dark.
The
second
day,
I
tried
to
ask
the
front
desk
for
maintenance
support
to
fix
my
dead
bolt.
The
maintenance
guy
was
making
light
and
laughing
a
bit
at
my
nervous
attitude
about
the
door,
and
said
he
could
not
fix
it
at
that
time.
I
asked
the
front
desk
for
another
other
room,
this
was
past
8pm,
they
had
a
room
that
was
not
yet
checking
in,
and
front
desk
did
not
allow
me
to
switch
to
that
room.
I
spent
the
second
day
in
that
hotel
but
it
really
ruined
my
vacation
mood.
Not
being
to
get
a
restful
night
of
sleep
for
fear
of
personal
safety
is
absolutely
insane,
given
the
bill
came
out
to
be
$950.
I
sincerely
regret
staying
here
and
wasting
my
money,
and
am
seeking
a
refund,
but
not
sure
that
will
be
granted.
