I was terrified of having anything done to my eyes. I am an author and, although Dr Peter Davies had replaced my husband's lenses a few years ago, I hated the thought of anyone touching my eyes. Dr Davies had been monitoring my eyes for several years and I like and trust him so, eventually, with 25% of my vision taken away by cataracts, I really had to act. October 2020 was set for my two eye operations, two weeks apart. The care taken at the hospital and the congeniality of the staff at Newcastle Eye Hospital is fantastic. All Covid 19 precautions are in place and the whole hospital is spotlessly clean. Now it is over, I am wondering what I was worried about. A bit like having a big filling at the dentist, the worst part was waiting for the local anaesthetic to wear off. I can see properly again and it is fantastic. I don't have to run for my glasses to see the television or to drive the car. Driving at night is no longer a problem. The follow-up was equally caring. My eyesight was checked the following day and I also received a phone call from a nurse to ask if I was experiencing any problems a week after the operation. Everything is so very well organised at Newcastle Eye Hospital in Waratah. No wonder Dr Davies is in such demand and has a wonderful reputation!

Thank you to all at Newcastle Eye hospital, I have had a few visits since 2017 and my latest the past 2 weeks. I can not thank Dr Davies and all the staff highly enough, they are always so friendly and helpful, just to name a few, Sarah, Louise, Dana and Raina and all the staff in the Theatre and recovery, they make you feel so calm and at ease. My sight has improved so well thanks to you all šŸ˜ŠšŸ˜Š

I was concerned in the lead up to my eye surgery, but now after having my right eye cataract removal and a lens inserted, all I can express to people looking for a great practice and a friendly, courteous, helpful and experienced team of health professionals is that Dr Peter Davies and his team were wonderful. Now Iā€™m not concerned at all to have my other eye done, and the booking is already made for 2 weeks time. Then I will not need my glasses šŸ‘“ any longer. Thank you Newcastle Eye Hospital (well done)

When something good happens in your life - share the experience. Cataract surgery is not necessarily something to look forward to - yes, it is - when carried out by Dr Peter Davies and his highly experienced team at the Newcastle Eye Hospital. Many people are involved in the cataract procedure - nurses, receptionists, optometrists and anaesthetists and Dr Davies acknowledges the important role that all these people play in the successful outcome of the cataract surgery. I can only say a big, big Thank You to all those who played a part in my successful surgery. There is a beautiful light at the end of the tunnel enjoyed by two new eyes - Thank You! I am so impressed with results and the journey. From the time you walk into the hospital there is a feeling of efficiency and professionalism. The Admin staff are helpful and friendly, the nursing staff are efficient (and busy), and Dr Peter Davies was very professional. The results, wow, beyond my expectations. 6 Months ago, I thought I would have to give up driving my car due to my poor eyesight. I had lens replacement in both eyes due to cataracts and now I don't need glasses to read my phone, computer, or books, and the resulting improvement was almost immediate. I would recommend this facility with no hesitation.

This hospital is run like a well oiled machine. I have just had my second cataract surgery completed and have been extremely happy with the results. I did have an issue with a panic attack and blurey vision after the second week of my first eye being operated on and contacted the surgery. The staff suggested I call to the surgery immediately and the problem was solved. I had a reaction to a steroid drop and after using the new drops all was great. Peter Davies is a top surgeon and one I highly recommend.

I had cataracts remove from both eyes by Dr Peter Davies, first one 9.5 weeks ago and the second 4.5 weeks ago. Prior to the operation I also had short sight and astigmatism in both eyes. The operations themselves were both quick and painless (eye a bit scratchy feeling that night). The next day after the operations my left eye had one line better than 20/20 or 6/6 vision and the right eye one line less than 20/20 or 6/6 vision on the eye chart, with almost all the astigmatism gone in both eyes - fantastic!

I had both my cataracts replaced. One 4 weeks ago, the other 3 days ago. As an extremely anxious client I can only sat WOW. The concern and care from all staff from my first appointment was amazing, professional and genuine. The actual procedure was painless, fast and was nothing like my overactive imagination. Recovery was simple and I am back to my normal lifestyle, driving, riding my horses and enjoying life with a quality of vision that I never expected to have again. Better still I no longer have to rely on glasses! My sincere thanks to the entire team. Wish I had done this sooner.

I had my first cataract removed in August and my second in October. The professionals and staff showed excellent service and attention towards me on both occasions. The hospital runs like a well-oiled machine, and is kept spick and span throughout. Double thumbs up to both Doctor Peter Davies and Doctor Bill Egerton.

Had both my cataracts removed and replaced with multi focal lenses by Dr Peter Davies and now am seeing and reading without glasses. Couldn't be more pleased with the result. There is easy parking at the hospital and the staff were fantastic from the front desk to the surgery nurses, all an easy painless transition from vision impaired to vision spectacle free. Highly recommend this hospital

The ONLY good experience I had throughout my procedure was dealing with Dr Davis at the East Maitland office for my post-op checkups. Absolutely sh!t customer service.

I have just had cataract surgery to both eyes. Prior to this surgery I was extremely anxious about the procedure. I wish to thank the entire team at all levels for a professional and caring approach. The surgery was painless and effective. I would award maximum score for every person with whom I interacted at Newcastle Eye Hospital. A high level of service was the norm here. I was also privileged to observe the lengths to which staff went to assist those with special needs or concerns. I will, without reservation, recommend to my family and friends, Dr Davies and his team. Thanks again to all those who assisted me Regards Leon De Lore
