Amazing staff, so so so friendly and fun. Atmosphere was amazing and lively. Food was to die for! I had the ribs and they were tender and packed with flavour. The music was gorgeous and the whole experience was completely worth it! Don't forget to pre-book!

Dinner and a tango show with live music and dancers. Held in Ciudad Vieja in a small museum dedicated to old kerosene stoves (random but interesting). The service was amazing. Everyone was very kind and attentive. The food was yummy. We had 3 appetizers, a main course and dessert. I brought my 8 year old daughter and she enjoyed it. They had a kids menu option for her. All in all a great experience!

The service (Mathew) was impecable, every dish was delicious (which is not to be taken for granted in Montevideo). The restaurant was decorated with antique burners and felt like we were in a museum. Lastly, the live music ensemble accompanied the tango performance topped off a perfect evening with friends. Highly recommended!

Loved the experience! Quirky atmosphere of antiques. Amazing food with excellent wine. The waiter spoke English and Portuguese in addition to Spanish. We went on a Thursday for the tango music and dance performances. Wonderful!!! We had such a great experience from the moment we arrived to the homemade lemoncello with dessert! We had gluten free and vegetarian people in our group and everyone loved their food!!! 6 stars!

A great evening in the old city of MVD. We had a wonderful experience with delicious food and a fantastic tango show with musicians and dancers. This is an intimate tango show. You get the feeling of being transported back in time.and is set in a building dating back to 1870’s. This old house once had a collector living here with a huge collection of brass paraffin burners called Primus ( invented in Stockholm, Sweden in 1892 ) that now is turned into restaurant. This show is the perfect way to spend snd evening MVD and will beat the mass tourist trap shows in Bunenos Aires.

AMAZING! This dining experience is a MUST in Montevideo. It’s a very quaint, cozy dining experience with an antique museum. You must make reservations. Greeted at the door by the chef. The tasting menu was absolutely delicious. It’s 4 courses. I’m still obsessing over the delicious bread and the dessert…real great. You also get a great tango and music show during dinner. All of the performers are wonderful. I can’t speak enough about how great all of the serving staff was as well. Everyone was very attentive, personable, and warm. They really wanted to get to know you. Again, you NEED to go here while in Montevideo.

A splendid date night with tango, love and food. You need to reserve the place beforehand. It's not like normal restaurant to go and dine in. Nice fine dine experience. Waiters speak in When we reached they gave us welcome drink - a wine with chocolate and canela. Then we got breads with humus. As my girlfriend is vegetarian she communicatied her preference and dietary restriction to waiter. They usually call you before you go to the restaurant to know your preferences. Then they served 3 apptizers. Once served they explain each and every thing there. 1. Type of chips(green apple, crackers etc) and 5 dips. (Both vegetarian and non vegetarian options) 2. Mushroom dumplings with 3 types of mushrooms, mushroom powder, croutons and mushroom soup. 3. Bone marrow with bruschetta (In vegetarian they gave provolone cheese and herbs) In main course we had lamb with red wine and beetroot sauce and pumpkin. And in vegetarian options, mushroom lasagna and vegetables. As desert you can choose multiple options. I had one with quency fruit and other one with muffin. The best experience is tango. The music, dance, the atmosphere - spectacular. Really amazing. Please visit and enjoy the evening. A hidden gem in downtown Montevideo.

We went there on 10th march 2023 and had a really enjoyable experience. The food was good (3 entries, main and desert) and the chosen tannat (3 vine option) was to my liking. The live singer, live musicians and dancer fitted in the whole scenery to this museum- restaurant. We were fascinated by the tango show! The waiters and the service were friendly and it was a pleasure to came to your place. Thank you, we enjoyed it from the beginning to the end. PS: I ordered the steak as medium but it was served more like done (slightly pink in the thickest part). It’s Uruguay (here they like it well done) so I expected something like that. maybe it was just a miscommunication (still- the English of the waiter was flawless and perfect 👍). Overall we were really happy to chose this location for our last dinner in Uruguay after 4 weeks. The pricing equals the quality and experience in every way. I would recommend this restaurant for everyone interested in Tango, music and delicious food with an special setting and ambient👌

What a great tango experience! We made reservations for this intimate restaurant, that only serves a 5 course meal. The tango was very beautiful, intimate and emotional. The food was also very tasty and the waiters very attentive.

Amazing place! The decoration and ambience were very nice, the food was divine, the service really excellent and the tanto show truly amazing. I enjoyed this evening a lot. The standard package they have wasn’t cheap but it was definitely worth every penny.

If I could, I'd give it 6 stars! The best culinary+cultural experience. I am Uruguayan by birth, but I've been in the US for 20 years. I took my US in-laws, sister in law and spouse to Primuseum for a 5-course dinner + tango show, and we had a wonderful time. Multilingual knowledgeable staff, friendly but not intrusive. The chef accommodated gluten-free and vegetarian needs. The food was exceptional and the tango show was extremely good. The musicians, the dancers, and the singer were all great. I particularly enjoyed the dancers as I used to dance tango. Mateo, our server spoke fluent English and I overheard him speaking Portuguese to other guests. He went above and beyond and it is obvious that he is in the industry because he likes it. The ambiance couldn't have been better. I wish this business the best and I hope I can repeat the experience next time I am in Uruguay. Highly recommended!

The establishment is a museum filled with antiques and that's part of the experience as a whole. This is a complete fine dining experience with a show, not just your typical restaurant. Extremely pleased with the quality of food and service.

The evening at the Primuseum restaurant was excellent from start to finish! In addition to the excellent food, the great and attentive service, we enjoyed a wonderful tango show with live music. Outstanding! One of the most enjoyable dinner experiences in a well-traveled life. Gracious hosts and servers really care about giving you authentic food and nice wine. The atmosphere is like a quaint two story museum, and even full the room might seat about 50 people so it is intimate. Skilled musicians, dancers, and singer show you a good time. You really get what you pay for.

amazing food superbly executed. the most amazing service by Mateo- a gregarious, knowledgeable and personable waiter that loves what he does and IT SHOWS. as a bonus, you get an impeccably curated museum of Primus Burners to enjoy. i was told that, when more travellers come, there is tango. food was delicoius and impecably presented and served at the perfect time. 5 plates included pate, a cheese/ham/etc appetizer, an exquisite goat, and a delicious cake! i couldnt finish the food!!!

Amazing experience all around. The environment and hospitality were extraordinary. Food was amazing and great explanation in different languages. Then we get to the live music.. The live Tango music was so enjoyable and made for a perfect night.

Not a place you want to bring your Vegan/veggie friends since the extensive meal includes a few serious meat items including a bone for a bone marrow platter. I'd prefer to skip the meal next time, and just come for the museum decor items, live music, and the professional dancers, those were excellent!

🫤 Not as good as the Google rating. Fried fish is OK, very basic food. Nothing special here. Service was good. The seating is very poor quality and not as nice as pictured, unfortunately as it is near the water but with no water views.
