Lovely place for a weekend picnic. Not much far from Montevideo. Plenty of Bus options you can avail from any corner of the city, but best option is to grab a bus from Tres Cruces Shopping. Takes you around 1:5 hours to reach along Ruta 1 and another 10 mins walk before you reach entrance gate. There generally is a nominal entry fee 20 pesos per person but we were lucky that day we visited and no entry fee was required for the day as the lady at the gate informed us. You will find plenty of open spots with Parilla places and cemented bench and tables for your perfect weekend picnic. Vast land acquired by the zoo, but not many animals to find. Sometimes you can see llamas roaming around in public if you are lucky. I was not interested in that but my wife was super excited. Over all, it's a pretty good getaway place if you are looking for a one day relaxation not too far from the city.
