Very pretty and peaceful old house. A bit hard to find. I liked it better than the nearby Rivera house

Disappointing for us. This museum has been recommended on the internet, Google maps and lonely planet. When we were there, only 1 room of Lavalleja's birthplace was accessible. For the rest it was a gaucho museum.

Lavalleja House Museum. A highly recommended place to travel back in time. An internal patio with some spectacular banana trees. In the background a museum of weapons, kitchen items, entertainment and a spectacular library. At the top you can find perfectly preserved rooms with galleries that overlook the internal party that make you want to spend the afternoon in that place.

It is worth visiting, plus it is free. The house is very well maintained and so are the exhibitions. It's a shame that there aren't more rooms available (the owners' rooms). The staff is very friendly and although the objects are not very interesting, the simple fact of seeing the house is worth it. Special mention to the living room on the upper floor, which is very well maintained and still has the original painted walls (with maintenance, of course)

Una hermosa casa, de tipo colonial, con doble patio. Estupenda colección de Roberto Bouton. Salones en muy buen estado y decoración. Muy recomendable.

(Translated by Google) It is a very nice museum, where you can visit and get to know the house of Juan Antonio Lavalleja. The museum is free to enter and does not have public toilets (Original) Es muy lindo museo, donde podes recorer y conocer la casa de Juan Antonio Lavalleja.
