The name is fitting for this interesting place. It is literally a stockyards / auction entrance, with your first option to be food. I assume this is to make it convenient for the farmers and buyers to get a quick bite while taking care of business at the same time. You can literally eat your meal and walk 30-50ft farther to buy or sell your cattle. Place was busy and with a lot of regular locals. You could tell because everyone seemed to know everyone. We got some tots to share and then the meatloaf and chicken strip basket. Fries and tots and chicken strips were pretty good. Meatloaf was pretty good as well. The green beans tasted like they came out of a bulk can. Edible but not great. Over all, was a pretty good little meal, but nothing I’d tell people they needed to try. For us, it was a standard diner that was an interesting choice due to the stockyards being attached, and it had decent reviews. We would certainly have no problem trying it again, but at the same time, would be perfectly happy trying another decent rated place as well. Staff was friendly and helpful. They were a little busy to keep up, but at the same time, everyone is understaffed these days.

The meat is good, fresh and cooked well. The place is rustic, not very clean but it is a different experience

Had the Wednesday special: steak burger, lima beans, blackeyed peas and rice. My friends had butter milk pie for dessert and said it was amazing. The price was cheaper then going to a fast food place and very filling. It is inside an actual stockyard where they hold auctions. Check their website for hours though.

A friend recommended it as a great hole in the wall place to grab a quick lunch and it was awesome. Ask for the "Dan" it's a sandwich not on the menu that consists of ribeye on top of a hamburger Patty. The seasoning is spot on. Neither of my fellow diners were able to finish it and the crinkle cut fries it came with (their both skinnier than me what can I say) but they raved about the sandwich and even had me try a piece and it was indeed the right spot to have lunch. I opted for the Thursday special which was pepper steak and 3 sides. I was hoping for a real kick in the gravy but there wasn't. I certainly could have added hot sauce to it as every table had 2 bottles. The sides we're good, I had the speckled butter beans and creamed corn then opted for dessert instead of a third side. Our server recommended the (I'm kicking myself for not remembering the name exactly) buttercream pie (I think) and it put an exclamation point on the meal it was amazing. While looking around the restaurant we noticed a meat case where they would customer cut steaks for you and we all wished we had brought a cooler with us for the road trip. In summary great hole in the wall for meat and 3 or for the Dan. Definitely check it out. It is in the actual stockyards where they do cattle auctions on Mondays.

This was my first time going and I must say the food was on point. The food was delicious. They open at 10:30 and close at 2. They stop taking orders at 1:45. If you are in the restaurant they will still serve you

While it's a tad on the high side for pricing, there is no place else I can think of where you can get a perfectly cooked & seasoned piece of steak that may have been on the auction block down the hall the day before (* Do not know if this is actually the case). The staff is a great example of southern hospitality and they tea is sweet. Might be a lengthy wait for lunch on auction days but it's worth it.

This is where the locals go. Fast and friendly but small. Expect a short wait time. A lunch only place.

This place hasn't changed in 50 years. Back then my grandma worked there. The food is the best I have ever had. I had a ribeye today that just melted in my mouth. Absolutely legendary. Prices are fantastic also.

My husband used to eat here all the time years ago & loved their meals. We went yesterday & were so disappointed. His Shrimp Basket was inedible as the grease was rancid. My burger was so overcooked it was crunchy. The service was great, but food was terrible. This place is a dump & we will not be returning. Cost was around $30 for lunch & we left most of it on the table.

This place is really good, my favorite hole in the wall in Montgomery. The customer service is awesome, they're comfortable and inviting! The atmosphere is laid-back and they're utilized what once was a stockyard for a comfortable restaurant. The food is really good, some of it you can tell was made in bulk to accompany such large numbers like their oreo cake- which is really good but it's not mom and pop. Hard core honest review- the food is extremely good for the amazing price they offer. If you are wanting really good food for a perfectly good price then this is the perfect place in Montgomery Alabama.

Yep. Pretty dang good place for sure!! Local favorite spot. VERY busy but very much worth the wait. Daily specials. Extremely affordable. Great people working their buttons off. If you've never had (or like me), never heard of Buttermilk pie. It is a must!! Thank you.

There was a bit of a wait... Completely worth it! Had a Dam sandwich, looked like a plain ol' steak sandwich, but everything was fresh and tender. Two good sized cuts of steak on toast with lettuce, tomato, and onions. It was delicious! Definitely worth a shot if you are in town, fair prices for what you get too will come back for sure! (And all of the staff were super attentive and nice, added bonus!)

Just go ahead and head on over for lunch. Get the steak sandwich and have your hunger satisfied. Its the best for lunch, but you can't go wrong with anything on the menu.

This is the best place in Montgomery to eat if you are looking for a delicious home cooked meal. They have plate lunches serving from 10am-2pm. They also have the best hamburgers around served with crinkle fries. The service is awesome. If you are looking to attend lunch get there early. Stockyard is usually slammed at 12 noon. Yeah, did I forget to mention it's really good food!!

Great food! Dam Sandwich is mind blowing!! Service was excellent with kind and attentive servers. Will definitely stop by again when in town.

How did I live near hope hull for 2 years and never eat here? Went for lunch and had the dam sandwich, and let me tell you, OMG is the only words to describe it! Steak on top of a hamburger pattie, with lettuce tomato pickles and onions between two pieces of Texas toast! Best sandwich hands down I've ever eaten! If you're in the area DO NOT overlook this little cafe!

This place has the best burgers I've had in Montgomery, my friend had a steak and it was so good she ordered a second one!

It was very big inside of it.. good people to give you services also good food their hamburger are good.. very nice people I would come back to it... it was very delightful place plus I get shrimp basket to go.
