This was an experience to experience of well put excellence! From the entrance to the exit the staff was amazing. Social distancing and precautions in place. The museum is very well kept and clean. The amount of thought and work placed here. It was heartfelt. I was glad photos were allowed and to be able to view names from all over was overwhelming but welcoming. It definitely made me want to do my ancestors research.

Please take your family. I never knew how much of my history I did not know. The wealth of knowledge one obtains for $5 per person, is certainly overwhelming. I vow to ensure that my children visit throughout the year to inhale the plethora of ancestral information provided, as well as understand the impact that the fight for civil and equal justice had/has on our government and treatment of our people today.

Very moving and heart felt place. Watching people search the names for their relatives and experiencing the shock of them finding many names. I found 2 myself and it was bitter sweet but would and will do it again.

Wow, what a powerful place this was! Although solemn and somber, it's very important to have something like this for all the lives lost due to racial terror lynching. It forced everyone visiting to acknowledge America's ugly history. I encourage everyone to visit this memorial it's quite the experience!

This monument installation commemorates victims of racial hatred in a dignified manner. It is well maintained with beautiful art sculptures and powerful evocative statements on the walls and water feature. I recommend seeing this along with a tour of the museum. The monument and museum are walking distance of each other, but there is also a shuttle w/ AC if you are worried about the AL heat . Some of the walk around the monument is not protected from the sun. In sunny AL , all sun protection measures are recommended, especially an umbrella.

A very simple but extremely powerful display to remind all of us of behaviors we never want to revisit. And if you haven't seen "Just Mercy," highly recommend it. Both inspired by the powerful work of Bryan Stevenson. #EJI

Unbelievable is all I can say. It really does explain alot. For all those people that were lynched upto 1950 we are missing them, their families and their generational wealth.

A memorial to the lives lost to lynching and violence against black Americans. Architecturally and conceptually very impressive on top of the incredibly detailed work of gathering and evidencing history. Thoughtful, moving, monumental, human and true all at once.

Words cannot express the feeling you get when you see The level of oppression that was accepted in this country and the pain that was endured by so many, for so long. Please visit this park.

The smartest momerial to a terrible series of events (and which are ongoing) in our nation's history that I have ever been to (I've been to a number of them). I wish all Americans would have the opportunity and open minded views to visit here and allow themselves to be impacted.

Spent 6 hours deeply immersed in this tremendously well done memorial for the painful history of black people in America. As a young man growing up in the western US I had limited exposure to the pain and suffering being inflicted on my fellow citizens, and my schooling did not prepare me for the depth of depravity and injustice visited on these fine people. I am very glad I went to the memorial and highly recommend it for everyone.

The museum displays the torment and lynchings of African Americans in the United States of America. It also displays the sickening and disturbing reasons why many were lynched. A very sad but honest look at history of black and brown people in this country

The Peace and Justice Memorial Garden is a solemn, reverent place to remember lynching victims. Plaques tell the stories of some victims and others are listed by name. The Institute is working to update the site as they discover more details and names.

A marvel. It was very powerful to see the symbolism of illegal lynchings, based on a climate of terrorism and racist hatred in our country.

Simply AMAZING!! This site and the Legacy Museum are a must see! The memorial is so tastefully and respectfully done. I was just in awe.

The Legacy Museum is a very powerful experience. It focuses on telling the whole truthful story. It honors the lives of everyone by including the raw testimony and history of the massive injustice in our past and currently. It was encouraging to see so many people, adults and children, involved with learning the true history of America.

Unbelievable place. Truly. Touching, heartwarming, thought provoking. Don't rush, absorb it, it will land with you on a deeply emotional level. You'll see the complex and sometimes horrific history which this country evolved from, perhaps still evolving.

Thought provoking installation of victims of racial terror by lynching, represented by suspended coffin-size metal boxes with cutout text of the victim's date of death beneath each victim's name. Each box labeled with the county where the crime took place from the dozen or more states most of these hangings took place.

Beautiful, peaceful and wonderful facility. Ample parking, strict security.

Very well done. Factual, plainly stated information. The memorials are beautiful & haunting. The guards at the door were a little perfunctory, but those inside were approachable and informative. Space gives plenty of room for contemplation & reflection. I recommend middle-school age children or older for best results.

It is really an awesome experience. So much history that is not taught in schools. It is a must see for all our youth especially those of the "black" race.

This is a new wonder of a world 🌎 for all to enjoy and connect to the history of black culture and black Americans. From this place we can learn how to solve problems and rewrite policies that can govern our society. The historical record shows, how under supervisor of the police and their lack to protect their own prisoners, they allowed outsiders to trust pass and violate the laws to commit violent acts against citizens in their custody. Why not the police being held accountable. Is you encounter All these stories how black people were placed in trees as Christmas ornaments, these police stations allowed this to happen under their watch. These police stations owe these families for damages even if their loved ones were guilty. Once under police custody one is safe from outsiders. It’s left to the courts to decide whether one is guilty or innocent. Until this question is addressed, no solution will set the record straight. We need the police like we need air and water to live. But we need for everything to be clean in order to live a healthy life. History is hard however we need to know the story so that it doesn’t happen again. This is a must see place. This makes America 🇺🇸 the greatest place to live. No one Ever mentions that. How the police turned to blindfolded themselves

It was amazing and emotional. The new must visit site in the state of Alabama. As with any museum there's a lot of walking so wear comfortable shoes. Also the lynching museum is in a separate location, but there are shuttles or you can drive the short distance to the other site. I will ensure when I have other family members visit Alabama, we will go again.
