Nice quiet place to stop for a Tea and a stroll around the garden. A few sculptures but not many.

Lovely gardens to walk around, sculptures as well as flowers along the pathway. Play area for younger children. The cafe is inviting and has a wide range of food and drinks to choose from. The staff are very helpful and nothing is too much trouble.

Beautiful gardens in a very quiet village with lots of parking, some parts on the walk I struggled to push the pram around due to the ground being very soft. The cafe was unfortunately to busy when we went so was not able to try the food but it did look good.

Had a lovely morning here. Beautiful flowers in bloom and gardens to walk around. The staff were very friendly. Lovely little cafe too. Hoping to come again with the children as the little playpark is an added bonus.

Such a local treasure. The food was delicious, at first I thought it was on the expensive side… but gave it a go and was not disappointed! It was worth every penny and obviously everybody’s bills have gone up so cafes have no choice but to put up the cost! It was delicious, surroundings are beautiful…you get a lot for your money here.

We first went for an extensive walk at the Maiden Castle ancient earthworks near Dorchester to work up an appetite!! And arrived at the walled garden, Moreton at the Dovecote Cafe for an English High Tea (book in advanced). We were extra hungry as we had skipped meals for this treat. This was the most well presented...delicately assorted, sumptuous feast we have ever had for a "high tea". We've previously had many high teas...but this one (excuse the pun) takes the cake. A whole layer of well chosen savouries, then the middle layer of light yummy cakes (so dainty) and of course...the top tier of scones with a "side" of clotted cream and strawberry jam. The place settings and crockery were typically English and we felt "rather grand" eating this treat. It was worth every cent !..The walled gardens are small but fascinating with visiting artists installations and sculptures on display. They have a fabulous children's play area and a few farm animals ...as well as other interesting animals. The Dovecote Cafe was well laid out and the food on the menu looked just as impressive as the "High Tea"...We will definitely be going back.

Nice place. I stopped for a coffee whilst on a cycling trip across Dorset. It was obviously popular with cyclists. It was quite a long walk to the toilets!!! However the food and drinks were good. I appreciated the way they seemed to be training people with special needs to work. Their words of encouragement to such staff were lovely to hear.

It has lots of facilities, quite a few restrooms, lots & lots of picnic area's, plenty of things children can do. Free to get in but theirs a honesty box to put a donation in and a garden shop .plus a church which has the most fabulous window's, there's also a small animal section

Lovely morning out, a beautiful place to explore, loved looking at all the animals, someone even made the time to get the ferrets out so our little one could touch and it's free, you can leave a donation if you want. Tasty food at the cafe too. Just remember to check online if open as we have arrived before to find it closed due to high wind.

Very secluded, peaceful and enjoyable place to relax, and chill out looking at the wonderful gardens, or grab a bite to eat and drink at the cafe or explore the garden shop.

Great little cafe amid pleasant gardens ideal for a relaxed stroll after eating. Paths and 'garden rooms' complex enough that kids love exploring and running around them. Good for various outdoor kids games involving hiding or creeping up on each other etc. (Not ball games)

A beautiful, hidden spot. Five acres of gardens with sculptures, fountain etc. The recent drought has played havoc with the vegetable garden & lawns! The Dovecote cafe serves fresh, wholesome food. The Portland crab sandwiches were very good and the chips excellent. Members of the 'employ my ability' scheme - well done. If you use a wheelchair / mobility scooter beware the cafe ramp - narrow with a 90 degree turn to interior. My wife was caught out and had to transfer using sticks on what is basically a barrierless ledge.

Dog friendly but not the hugest of gardens. Nice area but 30 mins will see you to the end. £3 for a map that doesn't show you any details.

Visited here today for the bug trail, such fun for the children who could pick from a lovely selection of prizes when completed. Kids enjoyed it & was only £3.00 per child. There is no charge to visit the gardens as yet although they do have donation boxes around the gardens, which i think is fair condidering the work that must go into the upkeep of the grounds. I'st time visit & very impressed with the beautiful large gardens , plants on offer for sale which are a fair price. A small gift shop with lots to choose from. Beautiful place & very family orrientated which offer fun experience for kids & adults alike. It was half term so was quite a lot of familys taking advantage of the bug Trail & gardens. There is a lovely play area for kids & picnic tables along with lots of green space to enjoy. We loved it. We ate lunch & food was fresh & tasty along with hot , fresh coffee. Lots of choice from the Dove cafe menu & pricing was fair. There is so much to do here for everyone to enjoy, especially the family orrientated events they put on. Enjoyable & impressive. Cant wait to return when the suns out in full swing. Great place for a picnic or just sit & enjoy this little gold mine in Moreton. Plenty of parking too. This place is dog friendly & dogs must be on lead.

Nice place to let the young kids burn up some energy while the grownups enjoy a coffee and cake in the cafe. Some animals and bugs to see within pretty walled grounds. A little off the beaten track, but you'll enjoy it once you find it.

A fascinating and surprisingly large area of both formal and natural garden areas. Popped in to check it out for a short visit will definitely be back to explore more and have a snack at the cafe

This is a fabulous place near to Moreton. Beautiful landscaped gardens, a lovely restaurant, a few animals for children and some lovely plants for sale. It is also next door to where you can find the grave of T.E. Lawrence or Lawrence of Arabia

A very pleasant stroll through the free gardens. There were lots of benches so I was able to have lots of rests. My disability restricts how far I can walk in one go but this was OK. I enjoyed discovering the various sculptures and we stopped for a cuppa at the cafe. We were going to have lunch at the cafe there too but after having a slice of the lemon and poppy seed cake with our drinks we decided to move on. It was very dry and not nice. First time in years I haven't finished a bit of cake! The gluten free lemon cake looked much nicer, I should have gotten that one! My mate did mention she liked their tea blend though.

Despite a rainy day we had a lovely day here with the grandchildren. They especially enjoyed the dinosaur trail, which was extra for the trail sheet, but was well worth it. A mixed type of gardens, some needing some tlc but lovely all the same. Entrance price is reasonable at £3pp adults, children free too all by donation request. The money goes back in to the gardens. Highly recommend a visit - we will definitely be back. The grandchildren hoping for another trail as they loved it so much

My friend & I have passed this place numerous times as the entrance is small but we ventured in there yesterday and was absolutely amazed at how big, beautiful and well kept these gardens are! The cafe looked lovely and a place to visit another time as we opted for a very tasty ice cream. we can't wait to revisit there

This is such a wonderful hidden gem. We love going for an hour or five. Make as much or as little as you want with the children. The garden is wonderful to explore and has a nice little selection of plants to buy near the children's play area. As its free to get in we always make time to buy a hot choc and slice of cake. Don't forget to wander down to the Ford for a toe dip or dog walk explore.

Lovely setting, a beautiful walled garden packed with delightful planting. The hydrangeas were at their peak and were stunning. The cafe was a real treat and the plant sales area unexpectedly very good value. Some of the borders highlighted a need for more volunteer (?) gardeners, with weeding, pruning and general tidying needed. I don't believe they were 'wilding'! A real treat, well worth a visit, especially with the Ford, Lawrence of Arabia's grave and the church etched glass within 200m.
