Food is very delicious . There was also instruction on “How to enjoy GyuKatsu” so we can enjoy without being lost in translation ❤️ crispy on the outside , soft and juicy in the inside . cook it to your liking too ! if you are very hungry , you can top up more meat : meat variety to your meal for a portion , without having to order a full meal . yum yum !

1 or 2 staff understand a little English (especially the young lady), we have little problem understanding the instructions. I really do not understand others who expect them to have better command of English? You come to a foreign country to experience and language is one of them! There is picture with steps to guide you how to enjoy the meal. Anyway the beef is of good size and done just right. Please do not expect top grade and cut for the price. Soup, salad (cabbage), barley rice, ocha were free flow, it's really value for money for the set meal.

We went there today with my girlfriend. The wait was a bit long (50 min.) but was definitely worth it. The meet was good (we tried tenderloin and sirloin). The staff was very welcoming. Would highly recommend, except if you’re in a hurry of course. PS: To the group of girl in front of us writing a bad review before entering and raging because a lady “double crossed them”, she had her name on the previous page of the waiting list, you deepsh*t.

Taste is mediocre and the queue is quite long.. Staff not able to speak english hence it will be a problem with the communication.. After food served, the staff did not prepare the hot stone for us and we thought our meal dont required hotstone until i noticed the customer beside us are having the same but the staff prepared the hot stone for them.. Very disappointed with the staff and the food.. Will not patronise again..

Because I felt super starving, I just got inside this restaurant without checking out any google or youtube review. My instinct was absolutely right! I ordered a Katsu which tasted out of the world! The best Katsu I have ever had! One of the restaurant employees was super nice (even cute) and even fluent in English! She explained how to eat and what it is in detail about what I ordered. Highly recommended! I will absolutely revisit there if I have a chance to vist Kyoto next time!

OMG I need to really recommend you all this restaurant. The Highlight of the day after I visit Kiyomizu-dera. Just walking by and see this place and just be a walkin guest by writing the name on the list and wait 30 minutes. So yummy crunchy meal with iconic Kyoto gyukatsu. They have like many branches around Kyoto but to me this place is the best. Staff is really nice too. A little pricey but worth the money. Will definitely come back.

A wide variety of sauces to have with the gyukatsu! The meat was tender and crispy, which I enjoyed. I do wish that the meat had more flavour on it's own, but it was still a very enjoyable meal, and well worth it's price!

Food is exactly what you would expect, waited about 20mins with 3 tables ahead on a Sunday, and the wait is worth it. The beef was delicious, and the scallops are a definite highlight, crispy on the outside, creamy on the inside. Well worth the very slight detour from the temple. Matcha ice cream was also delicious.

The best gyukatsu in japan. I ordered wagyu gyukatsu and the meat melts in my mouth, they have 5-6 different sauces and they’re all superrrr goood! The servers are super friendly & they speak english really well.

We’ve been craving for a Gyukatsu and wanted to try it for the first time in Kyoto. Good thing we googled “Gyukatsu nearby” when we were at Kiyomizudera and then this restaurant came up at the top of the list and have a very good review. It was 7min before 11am so we were the early birds. The food was great and very delicious. The meat are very tender and tasty even without the sauces but the sauces leveled up the taste. We ordered the Chuck Tail Flap GYUKATSU ZEN (Medium) set. They have more options like the premium wagyu which I could imagine much more tender but it is much more expensive too. We paid and got out after 45min and the line outside was long already. If you will go there try to arrive a few min before 11am. A must try Gyukatsu resto in Kyoto. You wont regret it. 1000/10 for us. 💯⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I honestly felt that the gyukatsu was really really meh. I ordered the tenderloin but it tasted subpar. I went during opening so I only had to wait for 20mins and service was good!

Absolutely fantastic meal and beautifully cooked Wagyu Beef. The 6 ways beef to eat is totally out of this world. The service is top notch and the staff is fun friendly. Absoulutely one of best meals I had in Kyoto. I cant praise this place enough.

good staff. But considering the price of the set, the meat is way too dry and over cooked. Taste is also just fair. Only here because its close to the temple and environment is decent.

Good place to eat wagyu katsu! Cooked perfect firm with little give. They also have local bear along with a fresh kind of beer. MATCHA BEER

Ordered a Japanese meat set. The service was friendly and efficient, and the meat was tasty. However, there was a remarkable amount of fat in one side of the meat, and should not be there. Note that I am talking about pure fat, not to be confused with the inherent fatty content that is common in wagyu beefs, which was in the meat as well (as expected).

Wagyu set. Out of the super heavy foot traffic. Good service. Prices are are fair for a piece of beef. Lots of different sauces to try and enjoy.

Discrete Kyoto location (but not far from the main hillside Temple) - my partner enjoyed the meat whilst I enjoyed the beer on a hot summer afternoon in Kyoto 🍻🙌

Enjoyed the seasonal special beef katsu with fish. It was tender, juicy and price friendly. The fish was fresh too. Waiting time and food turnaround was fast. English menu are available.

We chance upon this along the way… oh man.. this has to be one the best meals we had so far for the past 3 days in Kyoto .. wagyu beef is to die for.. My 9 year old kid, not really a fan of beef, said this meal was rated 9/10 😂… The picture doesn’t do justice to the quality. If you are around the area, don’t wait.. just do it!

I was very excited to try this, but frankly, it was very disappointing. This is probably the first food establishment in Japan that I gave such a low score. When I arrived at 1 plus pm, there was a queue of around 8 people ahead. You'll have to leave your name on a waiting list board hanging outside the shop. I waited for around 45 minutes. The wagyu cutlet was expensive at 3300yen. The beef itself was tough, and it lacked any form of marbling you'd expect to see on a true wagyu beef steak. Even after slightly pan frying it to medium rare, it was still tough and sinewy. The friend minced cutlet was much nicer than the wagyu beef. At 3300yen, you're really better off just ordering the usual tenderloin or something else rather than this disappointing wagyu beef. The highball was good, though, but of course because it's a yamazaki highball. The service was pretty good though.

Rib eye and wagyu menus are amazing. Make a stop for this. Refills on miso soup, cabbage salad and rice free😌

GOOD VALUE FOR MONEY ESPECIALLY AT AN EXPENSIVE PLACE LIKE HERE

The wagyu beef set is soooo delicious , they provided a lot of sauce for you to dip it. But in my opinion the macha beer is lacking a little. But overall 9.7/10.🤓😋

👍👍 I recently visited the food hall located in the basement of Daimaru Kyoto and was blown away by the amazing selection of Japanese food available. Not only was the food delicious, but the prices were very reasonable as well, making it an excellent option for those who want to experience good Japanese...

👍👍 I went there for the children section and it was very nice. They have a good soft playground for babies/toddlers and my son had a nice time there. In the parents room you can give food, clean and take care of your child, but also weith and measure him. This so convenient.
