Loved the vibe! And they accept cards (5% +) loved seeing locals and tourists singing together! The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because it is a smoking bar, besides that I totally recommend it!

Quite a nice place to go to with friends. Casual karaoke in an open bar environment. Prices for drinks are quite reasonably (beer 500¥ long drink too) and they use good quality alcohol for their long drinks. What’s special is their shelf full of disguises you can borrow and have fun with while being there. The staff speaks English well. Try it!

This probably my favorite karaoke bar in Japan. Super friendly staff and customers. Very international crowd but locals come too. Free singing, just buy drinks. The owner is good at making sure one group doesn't dominate the song queue.

I've been here 4 years ago and I still think about the night I've spent here. What an experience. The owner is insanely nice, tried his best to have a conversation with us. Everyone was singing and having a good time, applauding each other. Great drinks too. Just perfect!

Very friendly bar located in Kyoto near the buzzing Pontocho area. Everyone here speaks English and they really get into their music. Would recommend as a place to go to meet other travelers and English speakers. Bar staff are super friendly as well and the drinks are cheap. There was a guy with a bird too, and that was pretty interesting lol.

Great place to meet other foreigners. If you want to feel Japanese drinking culture dont come here since it is only foreigners people. But great for solo travelers. Drinks were only 500 yen and smoking inside is allowed

Went to this bar after reading all the nice reviews, and was shocked that as I entered the place the owner kicked me out cause I don’t speak Japanese (?) Edit: I edit this as a response to the owner. You are so ridiculous, you are a shame for the Japanese national. Myself have total of 3 reviews on Google, if you’d only open your eyes and brain to see it. I’m so glad you didn’t let me enter this place, I’d rather experience racism than pay for your salary. Gross. BTW, if you (the viewers) will scroll a few reviews down, and see the negative ones, you will see that the owner always has something bad to say about that one reviewer. What a poor person to be existing. Save your money and respect, and go to some other places.

Sang Karoke in Japan to knock it off my bucketlist. Welcoming bar, amazingly friendly bartender and server. And they have the voice of an angel and sing some songs them self, loved that to make us all feel comfortable!!!

Owner is extremely rude. They white out the prices on the menu and make them up when you order. There are cheaper, better places in Kyoto. Don't support someone so rude and predatory.

Reasonably priced, has room for groups, has a karaoke tablet and mics that can be passed around so you can request songs. Smoking is allowed inside and it's not well ventilated. Just something to keep in mind. Overall a good place, and a very mixed crowd of local and foreign guests.

Fun spot but they seriously need some discipline in song picking. There was a large Eastern European group that mostly hogged the song picking but then didn't actually sing along, resulting in many sappy 70s and 80s ballads nobody knew or cared about, kind of killed the vibe.

Great place to spend your entire Saturday night on. It's affordable too unlike other bars. It's spacious so you can dance with all of the guests. Staff is great too, 5/5. Great for partying especially if you are with a huge group. Good mix of foreigners and locals as well. Only thing I didn't like about my visit (group of 4) was the two people (maybe tourists) who kept on singing over us even if it's our song, not just singing but basically shouting (especially the guy lol). They never stopped singing the entire night even if other people obviously wanted to have the song for themselves; I mean, you can sing along of course, but maybe don't shout on the microphone at a higher volume than other singers, and obviously don't keep the microphone for yourself the entire night so other people can have their fun too. Anyway, it was annoying and unpleasant not because of Barcode, Barcode is perfect and I intend to return with my friends even if we live in Osaka. It's the guests who don't have self-awareness that make it a not-so-perfect experience. Just pay more attention to other guests if you visit and don't hog the mic for yourself, I guess? Cheers

The place is very fun if you are trying to party with locals and other foreigners. The drinks are very affordable. Most range from 500-1000 yen. There is no cover charge and karaoke is free. However, if it is busy, you will most likely not get a chance to sing or wait for a long time to sing on busy days. Not sure if it's different on a week day. The staff is very friendly. Also, this is a smoking bar.

This place was really fun, until it got busy. By 11pm the song queue was around 20 tracks, and the staff didn't do a great job managing the tables - some groups were queuing up a bunch of songs in a row, despite around 30 people being there. Definitely recommend earlier in the night when it's quieter! The staff were super friendly and had good English - I noticed there were almost no locals there, so it seems popular with tourists.

It is a nice #karaoke #bar where mostly international community visits. lt is mostly self service but also when you reserve a table, service is also available. The bar is located in a convenient location in Kawaramachi. However, the bar is located on the 2nd floor and you need to get stairs. When you are sobber no problem, but when you get drunk be careful. Overall, the atmosphere is nice. The restrooms are available and clean. We enjoyed our time, thank you.

Always a great space to hang as a crowd late nights! (As alot of Kyoto bars are on the smaller side.) With open karaoke its also a place to meet alot of the locals over a song and some drinks!

Me and my friends from the Netherlands visited in September and till this day we still talk about our karaoke experience at Barcode, we loved it! Everyone was very nice and the beef kaldereta was delicious 🙌🏽! 10/10 We will definitely visit again someday! 🔥

karaoke and inexpensive drinks - what more could you want? awesome little bar, great vibes, tourist-friendly, easy to meet other travellers and locals. and the staff couldn’t be more friendly - dropped everything to help me look for my wallet, and they kept my friend’s lost phone safe until the next day. had lots of fun!
