K's House is a fantastic hostel, right in the heart of Kyoto. The staff are super friendly and helpful and the common area is a nice place to hang out. Rooms are clean and beds are good, but it would be even nicer if the bunk beds had curtains.

Personally loved this place my brother and I stayed here a couple times when we have visited Kyoto. Friendly staff and it's great to meet people from all over the world and the breakfast next door is pretty good as well. My brother and I would take a six pack up to the roof every evening and watch the sunset behind the mountains and listen to music. I highly recommend this place if you are looking for a place to stay while in Kyoto.

This place has been very accommodating as a hostel. The staff are very friendly, they all speak very good English and know everything you think to ask about. The bathrooms and showers are all in great condition and have been clean for the week I stayed here. I would recommend bringing some earplugs if you share a room and make sure to go to bed early enough to not be the "awkward last one in" as happened to me too many times. Overall this place lives up to its reviews and awards.

Great place to use as a base to see the city. 10-15 minute walk away from Kyoto station and a 20 minute walk from the lively night area. bike rental is available at the hostel and highly recommended, Kyoto is a very flat city and buses get quite packed/are slow because of traffic. The common area is fairly spacious and the staff are happy to point you to lesser known destinations, places to eat etc. as well as being super friendly. Beds were comfy and there's multiple showers per floor as well as a laundry area (washer is 300 yen, dryers are free). The value for money at K's Kyoto is unmatched in my travel around Japan so far, I'd definitely stay here again.

I stayed in the hostel for three days and I had the best time. The staff is super nice and helpful, the room was clean, the bed was big and the locker below it as well. I appreciated so much that I needed to take off my shoes to enter. I had white shocks (they provide you slippers if you want them) and they never turned black cuz the place is very clean. I would recommend this hostel for sure. The best things were the common room and the laundry

Strategically located near Shichijo station & kyoto station. Staff was super friendly and helpful. The double room was spacious and comfortable for the two of us. Shared bathroom & shower room was kept clean at all times. The kitchen and communal space is adequate. Stay here if you are looking for something cheap and affordable.

I have stayed here multiple times. The hostel is a short walk from the JR station and is also within short walking distance of two subway lines that can get you throughout the area. The building is nice, and the bedding for both single rooms and shared bunks are perfect. The rooftop has a beautiful view of the surrounding area. The staff are friendly and helpful. If you don’t know what you want to do when you get there, the staff give great recommendations as well as great places to eat.

Thank you Ks house for another great stay in Kyoto. My first stay was in 2015 and loved it. When planning a month long stay in Japan I booked our first hostel/hotel as Ks House, even before we had our airline tickets 😊 Ks House is super clean, including the rooms, bathrooms, showers and common areas. Great location to Kyoto Station, Keihan Train and walking the Kamo River. Ks house has a great lounge and clean, guest kitchen. The staff are very friendly and helpful. They kindly helped me with several phone inquiries when I lost my phone. Highly recommend Ks House, it was even better than our last visit. Thank you- Ks House for a great 2 weeks in Kyoto ❣️

This is a great hostel. The staff are all friendly and helpful. They have good rooms, nice bed. Nice showers. Bikes to rent. Good location, near main station. Okay price!

Very clean and quiet. The staff is super friendly and helpful. Unfortunately the bar was closed when I was there but it looked really cool and would probably be a fun place to hangout at night. But it is close enough to multiple different points of transportation which made it easy to get around town.

Nice hostel located really close to the train station and not too far from the main sites in Kyoto. The staff were all very friendly and rooms including communal areas were very clean. Also has a coin laundry available which was very helpful. Stayed in a private room which was a reasonable size and was not noisy. Would return if in Kyoto again!

This was my favourite hostel I stayed at in Japan. It’s a convenient 15-20 min walk to the Kyoto JR station, and 5 min walk to Keihan line. I came in during the morning on my check in day around 9 am and was able to store my luggage. Then, stayed in a 4 bed dorm room. The beds and spaces are really clean, common space is well equipped with kitchen, fridge, and lots of space to sit and chat with other travellers. They even have bicycles available for rent. Only thing I didn’t like as much was the restroom- there are separate stalls for toilet and shower, but I wasn’t expecting it, so was a little surprised on the first day I used it. Overall, I would definitely stay here again- Thanks to the staff for being so friendly and providing great service.

I absolutely adored it here, I will definitely come back. The staff are kind and friendly the other travelers are the sweetest, super nice and social. Super clean and tidy. Location is a huge plus! I will definitely stay here on my next visit! Thank you so much to the staff !

Clean washrooms, clean rooms. Huge fully equipped kitchen. Walkable from Kyoto railway Station. Sweet and helpful staff. Rooms are compact but you rather feel cozy, than feeling stuffed. Loved my stay here. I visited in the summer, and the air conditioner in the room was set to around 24°C, which was perfect for me as an Indian, but if you're from the West, you might feel a bit hot.

I cannot recommend this place enough! We don't usually stay in hostels, but had heard they were especially clean and nice in Japan. We were not disappointed! Firstly, the location is amazing. It's a 10 minute walk from the train station, making it easy to arrive, and travel to other places. It's also an easy 30-minute walk along the gorgeous river to the more touristy neighborhoods of Gion and Pontocho. The staff at the hostel was always on hand, incredibly helpful and friendly. They agreed to call a hotel we'd booked for later in the trip, to speak with the owner in Japanese and let her know when we'd be arriving. This was one of the cleanest, brightest places I've ever stayed! The shared floor has a spacious, super clean kitchen, and plenty of space for lounging. The top floor has a rooftop, with a lovely view of the city - you can bring food and drinks up! We rented a small private room, with bathroom and shower, and were very happy with it. You don't need a large room in Kyoto - you want to be out in the city! Finally, we met some lovely and friendly people in the hostel, while eating breakfast each morning. If you're travelling to Kyoto, this is the place to stay!

Unbelievably amazing place for such an awesome reasonable price. What I liked most is the location and how accessible it was to literally everything in Kyoto. For my first time using a hostel, it was by far an amazing introduction to how it’s supposed to go. Also shampoo and conditioner is in place but have to pay a very small fee for towels if needed.

although is not very close to the station, it doesn't take a long time to walk. You can take bus and stop nearby the hotel. The staff was very friendly and the service was top. The facilities are total complete but I think the laundry kinda expensive. There is a laundry nearby that cheaper you can look on that. The place to sleep, bed, toilet and shower are clean and comfortable

I loved staying here! It was clean (bathrooms always very clean), it was quiet at night, there is a nice communal area with a kitchen and free tea/coffee. The staff is really kind, they were always here to help! Very well located too as it is really near the station! Thank you :)

stayed in a japanese style room for 3. I had a great experience, staff was friendly, the public restrooms were well mantained, and the communal lounge was a great place to stay. The location was also great, about a 10minute walk from kyoto station and plenty of places to go from the hostel. Highly recommend for anyone going to kyoto on a budget. Well worth the price.

Japan is becoming one of the poorest countries in the world. You can stay in a private room for 3,000 yen per night in Kyoto, one of Japan's leading tourist destinations. This price is unbeatable in November, the busiest season. However, in the case of K's House Kyoto, it costs 3,000 yen for a large dormitory room. Prices for private rooms are triple what they were last year. In Kyoto, you can stay in a private room for 3,000 yen, so foreigners are being scammed. In 2023, the prices of all hotels in Japan will decrease. The only hostel to see a price increase this year, K's House Kyoto still has surprisingly good scores, with many reviews written by hotel staff. (^O^) I've stayed here several times, and up until now I've used two buildings where I could relax with a large group in front of the big TV, and both buildings were available for use, but this year I'll be staying in one building, with a shared space. is very crowded. Instead of using just one, the price went up. There used to be a bar where you could drink alcohol, but it has been closed all this year. Other hostels have a supermarket within a 5-minute walk, but this location only has a 7-Eleven.

A really nice hostel in Kyoto. It feels more like the type of hostel you’d find in other backpacking hotspots where it’s easier to meet people due to a large common room. Not many hostels in Japan are social like this one. Having said that, it’s also not a party hostel so you can still chill and easily get sleep. Also had a lot of amenities such as well-equipped kitchen, many bathrooms, rooftop terrace etc.

Everything was fantastic for the price I was paying. I expected to pay high and experience low, but it ended up being the opposite. K House is an amazing stay and the staff are extremely helpful. Do not hesitate to come here.

Great environment, very good location, kind people. I enjoyed my staying there. Clean place, nice common area, kitchen, free water/coffee/tee, there is also a washing machine and a dryer with 500¥. I definitely recommend this place! Arigato.

I am a wanderer and it is hard for me to commit to a place but almost every time i am in a city, I get hooked to a place. K's house was that for me. everything is sorted here! and you feel at home. I will share some anecdotes: - everything you want in a hostel is here. - but they also have a big common area, with silent corners, work desks and bean bags with good music on the farthest corner. - free tea, coffee + Kitchen (with everything) - you can cook meals and just chill here all day. - rooftop with beautiful view I am nerd when it comes to booking a place, and this place aces everything i have come across in Kyoto. That too for a budget stay. Thanks Tommy chan, Joe, and everyone who always keeps working hard and welcome travellers with good energy <3

K's house is a great location to stay at in Kyoto. I didn't realize it was a chain and there are other locations throughout Japan, so I'll definitely check those locations out in the future. This place has everything you need and very well maintained. I was honestly surprised with the size and the amount of people at this hostel. Even though there were a lot of people coming in and out, this place is very clean! It felt like a hotel experience since I noticed families staying here as well. With the amount of people staying here and large common room, it is very easy to socialize with others!

I can't fault the hostel. It's great. Clean, well run and the room I had was a good size with a little bathroom. It's about a 25 minute walk from the main areas in Kyoto you might want to check out. But only 10 minutes from Kyoto station so great for arrival and departure. It's also close to the subway which is easy to navigate. I was super happy with my time in Kyoto and at K's House.

This place is awesome! It is one of the cleanest hostels we’ve ever seen. Clean bathrooms, good toilets, unreal rooftop terrace. Kitchen amazingly clean, common room excellent, nice and quiet. Couldn’t fault one thing about it. I wish all Hostels were as good as this!

With the State of Emergency, K’s Hostel did not fail my expectations. They even upgraded my room without extra charge. The place is clean and located near the main station. You can relax and rest after exploring Kyoto because this hostel belongs to a quiet neighbourhood. They also follow corona protocols like social distancing and have sanitizers on all floors. Mr. Suzuki is really welcoming and smiles a lot. Will always consider this as Home in Kyoto.

Great place! The rooms and bathroom were clean and the staff were helpful! There is a bar/restaurant with a good breakfast if you need. There is also a common area where you can meet fellow travelers, which is a lot of the fun. There is a 7 Eleven nearby and it's also a ~10 minute walk from Kyoto Station. I would definitely stay here again. If you're thinking of staying here, especially in a private room, make sure to book early since it's a popular hostel and can fill up quickly.

Really modern and well designed hostel, with real thought dedicated to backpackers and travellers. Beds were comfy and had curtains all the way around, showers and toilets were always immaculate. Common area and kitchen was awesome and spacious, and there were 2 free PCs you can use. Washing machine was a little pricey at 500 Yen but free drier made up a little bit. Rooftop area was a nice touch too as it's a cool view over Kyoto. For the price it's an absolute steal and I would stay here again and again when visiting Kyoto.

  • 4/5 Ian P. 5 years ago on Google
The bar is great. Service is polite. Rooms are clean and comfortable though it lacks the privacy curtains for each bunk that other hostels have. Not a serious knock but I didn't realize how much I liked having that until I didn't have it anymore. Kitchen is well equipped and the attached relaxation room/lounge was a great place to unwind. The rooftop was also a great place to hangout and chat over a marvelous view though it lacks chairs and tables and is only a standing space.

  • 4/5 Xavier D. 4 years ago on Google
Good hostel location, staff were always at the desk, it felt generally secure and clean. The lounge was a good place to meet people too. Laundry was expensive relative to other places 500 vs 400 typically but drying was free.

I stayed here for 2 nights in a private twin room. It's about a 10 minute walk from Kyoto station and pretty well managed with knowledgeable and friendly staff. The hostel is quite large, with 6 floors and a rooftop terrace. The common area is really nice and spacious and the our room was as well. The facilities could be a tad more well maintained, but that's due to the size of hostel and the people staying there, not the staff (I.e. one of the sinks I tried to use was full of little hairs and then clogged, the shower room had a slight smell, etc). Overall, I think this is a very affordable and foreigner friendly place for tourists and would recommend staying here.

  • 5/5 Giulia V. 1 year ago on Google
The staff was professional and kind. They helped us with maps and suggestions! The rooms were clean and there was enough space. There was a drawer under the bed to put the bags, really useful. There was also the air conditioner. The only thing missing was a table. The bathroom was clear. 3 showers (1 didn't work, but in every floor there were bathrooms and showers so no problem). Really quiet and bed comfortable. The shared rooms (kitchen and living room) were clean and well organized.

Pretty alright hostel. Good facilities and hard to complain

  • 5/5 Jonas R. 10 months ago on Google
Kyoto was the only destination in Japan I booked a shared room because the accommodation here was the most expensive out of all the places I visited. For this reason I thought it would be my least favourite of all the places I stayed but it actually ended up being one of the better ones. What’s important to know about Ks House that people aren’t mentioning in their reviews here is it is a CHAIN. Which is a good thing because it means they have their processes, amentities, operations down and in shape. There is no shady business. This is a NEW building with NEW amenities. Things looked modern and stylish. Bed linens smelled freshly washed. Plentiful outlets. Rooftop patio. Bike rentals. Good, sturdy privacy curtains around entire bed for shared rooms. Near Kyoto station. I was very impressed. Also it seemed like this hostel accommodated travellers of all ages which is cool. Yes, there was the younger crowd who would socialize in the evening and go out for drinks. But I also saw older folks in the common room as well who may have preferred the non-shared rooms. You won’t be disappointed with your stay here. The only bad thing about it for me was the usual annoyances of a shared room but I only picked cause of cheaper price.

The staff is helpful and efficient. The location is rather convenient and quiet. The property is well run: rooms are clean, beds are rather comfortable, amenities are OK... The fact that they rent bicycles (either for a couple of hours of for the whole day. Also, they have a great rooftop - the only drawback is that it's closed in the evening.

Nice thick comfortable beds. Huge common area with a kitchen that has 3 stoves. The entrance is extremely sterile and not welcoming because of covid. Once you get past that this is an amazing hostel!

Lovely hostel with big common space and kitchen, laundry room and rooftop with amazing view. Very close to the Kyoto station, convenience store and McDonald's are within 2-3min walk distance.

The location is wonderful. Just close enough to the busy main roads, but still quiet and tucked away. The home was welcoming, and the beds were very comfy and fluffy.

Brilliant hostel, loved my stay here and extended. Corridors can get a bit chilly, but it was snowing outside. Rooms are clean and tidy, adequate size. Staff are friendly and helpful, the kitchen has everything you need. Good vibes, thank you 😊

exceptional location, very clean facilities, and great prices. there's a nice kitchen and free coffee to enjoy in the spacious common room, and typically a pretty good crowd

This is the best hostel I stayed at for my trip to Japan. A GREAT and relaxed common area on the second floor, including deck. Easy to meet people. Free computer use (one). Friendly and helpful staff, lots of information on hand. Extremely comfortable and cozy bedding in their bunk rooms. I think the big blankets and the location absorb a lot of the sounds, making for a surprisingly peaceful stay. Clean. Relatively inexpensive bike rental just out front. Decent location for the river, and viewing East and Northern Kyoto. The only thing I can really pick on is that the bathrooms don't seem very bright - maybe lighter flooring or cupboards? But it's totally passable and truly an outstanding hostel overall.

Loved the location — Kyoto Station is a ~10 minute walk and Shichijo Station is 5 minutes away. Very clean facilities with a great kitchen and lounge area. It’s also great to have a proper storage cupboard under the bed, which you can lock.

  • 5/5 Briana L. 11 months ago on Google
I stayed seven days here and have nothing bad to say. Diligent & kind staff, clean spaces, friendly vibes. Each bed gets a locker which is lovely. Enough bathrooms for everyone. Lovely second floor lounge.

This is my second time staying at K’s Kyoto and I enjoyed it. I had an issue with my original room and they were able to accommodate for me and give me a new room which I really appreciate the great service they provided. Great shower pressure, kitchen space, and laundry room. Common area is nice too.
