We
are
staying
here
now,
and
it
has
not
been
the
experience
I
had
hoped
for.
Arguably,
we
had
a
very
trying
day
at
the
airport,
ultimately
ending
with
our
flight
being
cancelled.
We
used
Expedia
to
find
a
nice
hotel
with
an
airport
shuttle,
and
were
pleased
to
see
that
Sofitel
had
rooms
available.
With
my
wife
having
never
stayed
at
one,
I
felt
it
would
make
up
for
the
challenging
day
we've
had
by
having
a
luxurious
overnight.
The
issues
started
at
check-in.
After
waiting
10
minutes
behind
other
guests,
we
were
first
confronted
to
provide
our
confirmation
from
Expedia,
the
reason
being
that
they
didn't
have
our
reservation
in
their
system
(??)
and
had
to
discuss
with
a
manager.
It
had
been
60-90
minutes
since
we'd
made
the
reservation,
so
it
felt
a
bit
embarrassing
that
we
had
to
prove
we
weren't
making
it
up.
Then,
we
were
told
we
would
have
to
go
sit
and
wait
while
the
confirmed
it.
Again,
this
after
waiting
10m
in
line,
being
challenged
on
our
reservation,
then
having
to
go
sit
while
the
waited
on
other
customers
was
so
outside
what
I
have
personally
experienced
at
any
hotel
or
resort.
Made
worse
by
my
wife
having
to
experience
this,
after
I
spoke
so
highly
of
the
hotel.
Then,
when
she
went
back
to
the
front
desk
to
ask
for
water,
they
decided
to
relay
through
her
the
request
from
my
CC
for
incidentals,
rather
than
making
the
effort
to
walk
over
and
address
me
directly,
which
they
said
they
would
do.
It
was
a
long
walk
to
our
room,
which
itself
is
very
nice.
The
front
desk
told
me
that
dialing
'9'
would
reach
her,
and
the
bellman
told
us
that
the
TV
could
be
changed
to
the
english
language.
And,
there
was
a
placard
with
a
QR
code
that
presumably
would
supplement
the
TV,
to
include
being
able
to
order
room
service.
Nothing
worked.
First,
the
TV
wouldn't
do
anything
but
show
"Sofitel",
then
go
to
a
blue
screen.
And
the
QR
code
gave
a
message
saying
it
was
no
longer
valid.
Finally,
dialing
'9'
several
times
only
kept
ringing.
I
thought
I
assuredly
had
misheard
her.
So,
it
me
taking
the
long
walk
back
to
the
front
desk.
There,
they
challenged
me
on
the
QR
code,
offering
another
placard,
this
time
I
could
show
them
the
message
"Menu
not
available"
which
seemed
to
surprise
them.
Then,
they
confirmed
that
'9'
was
the
number
to
dial,
and
when
they
learned
it
wasn't
being
answered,
called
'someone'
and
seemed
to
chastise
them
for
not
answering.
Finally,
the
TV
-
they
said
they
would
send
someone
up,
They
have
not.
We're
not
even
2
hours
into
our
stay
here,
but
I
needed
to
vent.
This
has
been
an
embarrassment
to
me,
as
I
spoke
so
highly
of
this
hotel
on
the
way
here,
only
to
have
my
wife
experience
something
we've
not
had
to
go
through
in
all
our
years
of
travel
adventures
(averaging
6-8
trips
a
year,
mostly
international).
Overall,
I
have
a
feeling
of
being
marginalized.
The
front
desk's
attitude
towards
these
issues
seems
indifferent,
and
I
don't
understand
why.
No
one
seemed
concerned
that
the
reputation
of
the
hotel
is
being
besmirched
by
these
issues.
Regardless,
while
we
will
return
to
Marrakech,
we
have
no
interest
in
staying
here
again.
I
can't
recommend
it,
and
suggest
that
if
even
one
of
these
occurrences
befall
you
that
you
address
it
immediately
with
the
management
and
request
a
cancellation
if
not
to
your
satisfaction.
