A small museum, but still worth it! The friendly supervisor easily switched between English, German and Spanish and thus contributed to understanding. If you are in the area, you should visit it to know some of the history of Motril and the surrounding area!

a small museum, but interesting about the importance that the sugar cane industry had in the region. They charge €2 or €3 but since they were going to close they didn't charge me, which is appreciated.

The reception was very friendly and even in German. After a short introduction, we looked at the history of sugar cane cultivation on several information boards. In the next room there was a film screening on this topic. The large mill worked in the adjacent room and the processing was shown in several exhibits. In the last room there was a video about the processes leading up to the finished sugar. We were amazed by the large dimensions, which were not visible from the first dream. There is a lot on offer for the price of 3 EUR (as of January 2024).

Must visit if you go. Motril, impressive recreation of the Ferris wheel that seems to continue tirelessly doing its work as if time had not passed. Very good explanations and attention in Spanish, English (and perhaps another language). Some details that could be improved, such as the souvenir shop (I was left wanting to take a little detail to give as a gift)

Interesting description of the history of the sugar cane in the area. De-forestation of the area to provide timber to boil the sugar cane 3 times over. The machines used to squash the sugar canes were big! Some of the display areas were under-lit.

Very interesting. Explains the History and production of Sugar from the Cane to the granulated sugar. Amazing original machinery. Loved the guides talk. He was excellent.

Ein kleines aber sehr feines Museum, welches die Geschichte der Zuckergewinnung aus dem Zuckerrohr seit dem 16. Jahrhundert anschaulich darstellt.

It looks small on the outside, but the place is quite large. It has a working replica mill inside along with actual foundations and timbers. Guide was fab, good english language and excellent knowledge about the local history. Allow about an hour to make your way round, all for 3Euro.

We visited on a Sunday morning and were the only two visitors at that point. The lady who was staffing the museum was excellent. Really knowledgable and helpful. The exhibits and films are very informative and available in Spanish and English. (possibly other languages too) and I came away knowing much more about the sugar industry, history, process and resulting effect on the surrounding landscape. I would highly recommend a visit. Current entry fee €3.

(Translated by Google) A site that cannot be missed, with a great history of Motril and the colonial era and its influence on the discovery, learning and development of the cane sugar industry; as well as globally. Even with children, the visit is very short and pleasant. (Translated by Google) A great museum to discover and learn about the history and evolution of sugarcane in the town of Motril and other neighboring towns, the techniques of collection, extraction, preparation, cooking and marketing of the resulting sugar loaves. And all this seasoned with the explanations and kindness of the museum employee. It has reduced prices for large families. Y todo ello aderezado con las explicaciones y amabilidad del empleado del museo. Dispone de precios reducidos para familias numerosas.

Very interesting museum. Nice drawings to illustrate. A bit more light in the large rooms would be nice: hard to see the items in the showcases.
