9-17-21 Our tour took us to Mt. Shasta City Park home of the headwaters of the Sacramento River amazing to see so much water in a never ending cascade of movement. I brought a jug so I could take some with me and boy is it 🥶 🧊 cold. We hiked the area and discovered a tree or should I say two different trees that have grown TOGETHER ❤. Check out the photos it's true. Nice hiking trails not sure about bathrooms. Blessings, John

Fun park to get out and let kids run around. If you are up for a short hike you can take the short hike to the head of the Sacramento River. Playground is small but they have a old fashioned jungle gym dome still which is awesome.

Fantastic is only the beginning of this gem. Along with picnic tables, bar-b-ques, a playground & forested trails near the creek are the Headwaters of the Sacramento River. These blessed waters taste as if from Heaven. Many come & sing to the waters also offering flowers & spices to honor them. Walk softly, have a taste & cool your feet in the Sacred Headwaters & take a nap or have a meal in this beautiful park.

Great park and landscaping but lots of weed smoking hippies! The water is the cleanest and coldest in California. The water come out of a hole in the ground. Snow melt from Mt. Shasta seeped though cracks in the mountains and filter though the rock. When it comes out at the park you can fill up your water bottle and drink it. Go early otherwise you will encounter lots of dirty drifters bathing in the water and smoking.

Great place to stop on a road trip. The park is beautiful but the highlight is the headwaters to the Sacramento River. Very interesting place to check out for a bit.

This is an incredible local treasure but I stress the word local - because it should be treated with care for just that reason. The park has a playground, picnic tables, gazebo, large grassy field, various buildings dedicated to senior meals and local community activities. It also holds a spring that is one of the headwaters of the Sacramento River. For whatever reason you come here, please respect the fact this a community treasure created and maintained by the local community. Please don't leave trash, destroy native habitat (such as the native plants growing around the spring), or make this an unsafe area for family by doing drugs or smoking cigarettes. This is a great place to enjoy time alone or with family and friends. There is parking and a bathroom. Again, respect this wonderful community resource. Don't leave trash. Respect the energy, work, and funding it takes to maintain such a wonderful place where people can relax, recharge, connect, and play together.

Came here to get some fresh air on our drive, there was live music and dancing in the park, we got to enjoy a view, and ended up getting fresh spring water from a natural spring!

Such a nice place. People act as if time does not exist. Very friendly atmosphere. The headwaters are beautiful and you can collect drinking water there. The trails are pretty, with wild nature surrounding. I was able to take my cat for a walk and take some amazing photos too.

Went here to fill my water bottle at the Headwaters spring, 3x. It's where the water comes off the mountain through lava rock and eventually turns into the Sacramento River. The water is pure and refreshing, and the park is an experience. It's disrespectful to wade or play in the water. Many people regard the pure water source as sacred.

What a pleasant and peaceful park just off the I5, home to the headwaters of the Sacramento River. Lots of facilities, lots of trees providing shade, and lots of space to walk, picnic, and just enjoy nature. The only problem for me is the fact that as I was heading south, to get back on the I5 required having to ride through the town and city streets more than I would have like as there is no easy access back onto the freeway. Other than that, I nice respite from the concrete jungle that is nearby.

This place is a little slice of old timey California with its multiple brown buildings, meandering trails and old trees. You must go down to the headwaters: such spectacular clear fresh water! Playground, horseshoe pits, BBQs, this park had them all

Very clean place, lots of space to run around and play for kids, or picnic for families. A lot of hippies were there so be prepared to see some weird things, but overall friendly people visiting and beautiful place. Good stop off if you’re on a road trip with kids as there are multiple playgrounds. There’s also a place to fill up water for campers at the headwaters.

Mount Shasta City Park houses the Headwaters Spring that funnel into the start of the Sacramento River. It's a heady experience seeing that much water come from the base of the mountain. It's very clean and very crisp, but you drink at your own risk. There are vendors selling their wares at benches and areas around the spring - mainly crystals, incense. The water is cold and there aren't a lot of places to sit at the start of the springs - benches and bridges are further downstream. The park was very clean. There is no overnight parking/ camping.

The park is beautiful with play structure for kids. You can enjoy the headwaters fall and taste the water but on Gour own risk. Most people says that you can use the water since it comes from the top and is a filtered water however city put the notice board that it is not tested. You may see some hippies and the group of people enjoying the barbecue or else. This season was not crowded. Recommendation: keep an eye around and stay there only if you feel safe.

Scientifically speaking, water purity is tested by the amount of radiation particles it has attached to the original H2O... and if there are none with a natural process, it's been filtering for at least 50 years. Native locals however, say it's more like a hundred, and I don't argue. When We come for the waters as the ancestors have, we ask permission before accepting it as not just the origins of the Sacramento river, but as the first step back into liquid form of the cycle that goes around Mother Earth and back. It's only called a hippie thing when made acceptable by blond hair and blue eyes doing it, unless done in larger corporate form, as does crystal geyser, and then no longer is it asked as much as it is taken like so many lands, languages, hands and validation of anguish. More Native and Brown/Black Women are taken than crystal geyser bottles are consumed. Still. Yet being consumed by profits over prophets are where our Future becomes doomed. Don't be an Mf Doom appropriator, be the actual soul, take off the metal face with control and stop any signs of any real hater. Ask all for permission and understand that oversimplified rhetoric has kept the middle class on full blast to be last while the disparity gap grows wider not whiter with each ungrateful empty bottle or negative mind wasting that half empty glass. Even if less than half full, there's always been greatness in each gene pool. All Waters and all Daughters are sacred and Divine. Don't waste any of Her, as you would waste a good time. Thanks!
