Well worth the hike, this location not only has beautiful views of Mt Shasta peak and its surroundings, but it is an important piece of its history for almost a century (1922) and its well preserved. It has a natural spring, camping grounds and well taken care of toiletes (believe me, you will be grateful for that once you make it there too). Absolutely gorgeous 🙏🏻

Its a moderate hike up the mountain. Approximately 2 miles from Bunny flat. Good stopping point for those heading to the summit. Please donate to help take care of the area and the compost bathrooms. Caring people are engaged in keeping the bathrooms open and making sure you have fresh spring water.

1 and half mile trail. Enjoyed it a lot. A bit slippery during sunlight. Loved it

Bathrooms, fresh spring water, and some history. What's not to love. Great pit stop on the way to Hidden Valley or Helen Lake.

When your camping at sand flat you can hike up to horse camp to refill water in the lemurian spring, if you don't want to waste the gas going up and down the mountain. It's a decent hike uphill so be prepared but well worth it. plan the hike in the early hours so your not burning in the sun. (water is safe to drink unfiltered)

The only word to describe this hike is BREAHTAKING. Ending elevation is 7780 feet. Now I know why Joe Kapp came here in 1972 to film Climb An Angry Mountain with Fess Parker.

I simply love this camping. For just $5 you'll get to spend a perfect night with very nice toilet. Not a lot of people, the camp sites are quite speed with cute little trails going directly to them, and in general it feels very cozy. You could talk with a person in a cabin, they know the latest weather forecast. The toilet is clean, no smell at all, it has toilet paper there and a little trash can for feminine waste.

A cool stone walled cabin. Only chimney and roof visible when we visited. Had nice tunnels dug in from the side when we go there that went down to the door. Great place to visit especially if trapped in a blizzard.
