I don't want to put more effort into this review than they put into cleaning and maintaining their rooms... But... This hotel was a catfish. Stay here if you don't mind your feet turning black from the floors, shower doors that don't close, a bathroom window with no screen or lock, cups with lip prints on the rims, toothpaste spit dried to the vanity cabinet, room doors that must be slammed to shut all the way and walls thinner than my patience at this point :) This "outdoorsy" hotel idea is great in theory, but the ball has definitely been dropped in practice. My room didn't even have a Rumpl blanket waiting for me :'( I'm sure the staff was friendly, if I interacted with any of them. Oh well.

This is my first time here. Usually I like to review hotels if I’ve stayed at least twice but there’s definitely things to validate: my room has a hammock hanging across the ceiling; that is super cool. So this is a motel for those who are into outdoor activities or have a pet. There’s a lot of things they’ve done right. The floor does not have carpet. There’s a yeti cooler that I can use. There’s a whole bunch of gear hooks on the wall and an extra large mini fridge, along with the normal things you would find in a motel room. There’s also camp sites as well as a hostel on site. There’s a bike rental and outdoor gathering place with fire pit so a lot of cool features; there’s not really a front desk in the typical sense, but there is a café during business hours. So definitely a great place for dog lovers or people looking to have a more affordable option, that also accommodates outdoor adventure lifestyle. No free breakfast but the community kitchen and common room makes it awesome.

lotion would be a good idea for bathrooms but otherwise they were the best equipped and most well-decorated motel rooms I’ve been in during the last 5weeks of travel. The cafe and patio with snow capped mountains in front is the perfect combo of modern sleek/clean design and maintains its outdoor rugged mountain tones, the fire pit being the ultimate cherry on top of what has the potential to be a very lovely social/leisurely atmosphere.

I love this place. The room was super roomy. Staff are attentive. The location is close to downtown but just far enough away, and the ambiance is awesome. And it's dog friendly. They even have a little dog park (Bark Park). Will definitely stay again!

Certainly an interesting concept that has lots of potential. I stayed here 2 nights in the same week and had mixed experiences both times. I enjoyed having a kitchen to make breakfast and the shared spaces were nice. I think for the price of a private room, it might make more sense to stay here if you needed a crash pad and go the hostel route. The first room felt a bit run down, especially compared to the website. Hammock mounts ripped out of the wall, a little dusty, curtain rod falling off, camper van running it's generator all night outside my room. It is clearly a renovated old establishment. The second room was the exact same type of booking, and it felt much cleaner and true to photos. However, it was completely not sound proof. I heard doors opening and closing and the conversations of the folks in the other room next to me late into the night. Also the loudest wall heater I've ever experienced.

4 stars on the rooms part because I'm sure they could find shower heads that are better suited to the shape on the shower stall and wipe down the stall better. But when a hammock was faulty they removed the extra fees for late check out, they got us some free lattes, and they were actively messaging with the manufacturer. More pluses, the room otherwise was rather sturdy but cute. They had some charge cords available for use as well as a little notebook and a huge mirror. The hammock hooks being anchored well meant we still got to hook up our own hammocks as we wanted to. The room has bike racks and a boot warmer and tray which was perfect. I didn't realize how much dirt would get tracked in with our boots.

Easy access with key code texted to you prior to your stay, fun adventure style decor, big comfy beds. Beyond those, I wouldn't recommend this hotel if you're looking for 'nice'.. if you're used to camping and backpacking, this would be a step up. Too many cons to list. Suffice it to say that this is a very tired old hotel that they have painted over and attempted to give a cool vibe to. Like I said, depends on what you're looking for.

Solid marketing concept; poor execution. My review relates to a reservation for camping. Arrival felt awkward. No staff or host on site after 5pm. Walked property, asked other guests but had to reference the property map from an e-mail on my phone to locate the bathroom. Minimal signage. Facilities were located in the corner of the L shaped hotel building. Access code then down a short secluded hallway to two toilets and two showers for all of the campers (men and women combined) who occupied the 10 campsites. Odd that access to a random upper hotel room is also through the same hallway area below. One would think that a staff person would clean and re-stock supplies prior to end of shift but no toilet paper was provided. Lights are on motion sensors, so I had to wave my hand mid shampoo rinse when the light went out. Not a good vibe for a solo female traveler. The 10 campsites are basically small wooden stalls with shared walls located at the edge of a hotel parking lot. Parking was limited and not all sites were level. Sites are automatically assigned during the reservation process. No way to change your location upon arrival. Minimal privacy. One of the two plastic Adirondack chairs in my site was cracked, twinkle lights were missing bulbs. Each site has a picnic table. Bark park is cute but small. Limited space to walk your dog so hotel guests gravitate toward the camp area. Hotel guests also came out and used the campsite next to mine for their pre-bedtime smoke break. There is a nicely appointed gathering site in between the two hotel buildings and across from the tent camping. One group plus several solo people gathered there and were thankfully respectful of quiet hours at 10pm. I found it unsettling that they had a fire roaring beneath the boughs of dry evergreen trees in early September. On a Thursday night, it was remarkably quiet between 10pm and 6am. After that all bets were off as the parking lot came to life for morning departures. Not a relaxing stay, not for me. On the plus side, cost and just a few miles into the charming downtown area.

AWESOME PLACE! Glad my girlfriend found this place for our Valentine's, snow shoeing get away. We just loved! They got the spirit of the outdoor people with such a touch of good good sense in every aspect. Nice room decoration with simple materials and yet sophisticated. Bike rack and the hammock in the room was something special. They are very green oriented. Communal kitchen was such a plus! Real nice staff and coffee shop too! Nice and clean room. Very pleasant experience at the LODE SHASTA. We will definitely come back for more. They have much more to offer during the summer time. Check their website. Such a pleasure. Don't miss it!

Great little place just off I5. Renovated motel with neat touches like in room hammock and bike racks, fire pit (s’mores!!), and doggie area. 2 queen beds in separate spacious rooms. AC unit in main living area worked great, but we slept with the bedroom doors open for airflow. Could use more seating options in living room but worked for us.

Some places are defined by their location & the scenery. Some by the facilities/amenities and the quality or lack thereof those facilities. And then there are the places that have an abundance of high-quality, functional amenities in a location so beautiful there are no words to describe it AND they employ a staff so nice, so helpful & understanding that you'll never stay anywhere else anytime you're staying within a couple hours drive of said place. LOGE is in this category. We ended up staying here out of necessity, in an emergency on Xmas Eve with 2 kids under 10yrs old and these people were AMAZING. Just wonderful. I'm so so so very grateful for their hospitality and kindness. If you're looking for somewhere to stay in the greater Mt Shasta area, you cannot beat LOGE. Thank yall for saving our Xmas and treating my family with so much grace & kindness. We will definitely be back!

WATCH OUT FOR HIDDEN FEES! There's hidden fees that are buried in the fine print (supposedly) which adds up to a lot if you're staying multiple days. Check in staff were hard to find and gave almost no information, not even a wifi password. I attempted to contact Loge afterwards and was given a generic email response. Take your money elsewhere unless you're looking for the bare minimum

Stayed here three nights $850 during Labor Day 2023. Neighbor's room had two large dogs left in room all day and unrtil about 1:30 next two mornings. Barked all day and night with pounding on walls. I complained to the front desk and the manager came to the room and heard the barking as well. I got one nights sleep out of three. I asked for a two night comp and management refused. The buck is mightier that customer service I guess. The room was semi clean as well and they do not clean your room unless you stay a minimum of four nights I was told. Coffe pot in room was filmy and the shower fixtures came off the wall. My feet turned black after one pass on the floor barefooted. Coffe was weak and lukewarm at the cafe.

Stayed here through AirBNB for one night. We rented the bunk room with 7 beds for a family of five. The stay was fine. The top bunk beds were too hot in the summer. We unfortunately left an item at this lodging. We swung by four days later to pick it up but had a horrible experience with the manager. We were initially told he would be the one to help get into the lost and found and that he would be arriving in 15 min so we got coffee at their cafe and intended to wait. While waiting we went to the restroom. I went upstairs as the bottom restroom was busy. When I came down the stairs, the manager initially thought I had been a guest in the adjacent room to the bathroom upstairs. He then proceeded to be rude and condescending about me using the upstairs room. The conversation was awkward given his tone and irritated mood. We ultimately got our item and we’re trying to leave but I felt the need to explain to him in person how rude he had been. I went back to speak to him. After a strained conversation, where he was again accusatory and condescending, he apologized for being rude and I apologized for using a restroom closed off to other guests and the public. We will not be staying here again. [EDIT 8.26.22] The comment below is likely from the manager that was harassing me. He now claims that I was trespassing and had to be "forcefully" removed. He is only buttfrustrated since I filed a complaint with airbnb due to his immature behavior. At no point was anyone's safety at risk, perhaps only my own since this immature person lost his temper. The only reason he apologized when we returned to retrieve the item we left behind is because there was an audience there. It's really absurd to characterize accidentally using a restroom as "trespassing" when the only sign indicating that the upstairs restroom is for guests is a tiny sign on a column next to the stairs. It is also insulting to say I was "forcibly removed for the safety of other guests". The most absurd mischaracterization of the interaction with their childish on site manager. Avoid this place at all cost.

The website looks so amazing, activity central location, with a focused community, the place is way over priced and when ask the staff about outdoor activities that are in the website, I was told they do not write the stuff on the website. I tripped 4 times on a nail at the top of the stairs, I then removed it so it would not kill anyone. There was not community feel from the staff and we check out early to move to a new location with super helpful staff that want the business and for us to have an epic experience. Pass the place up and drive into town.

1986 was the year my husband of 37 years and I married in Reno, NV. spent part of our honeymoon in Mouny Shasta and happily stayed at the, back then, Finlandia Motel. It was a beautiful place with all the amenities we needed. I have pictures of the hotel back then. Too bad there is no way to upload pictures in the review.

As someone who works in the outdoor recreation industry, I really want to like LOGE, so I keep trying. But I'm officially done and am never staying at another one again. The rooms here are dark and depressing, with bald edison style light bulbs that just make it feel institutional. There is no art or anything to make the space feel comfortable, even though Shasta is one of the most beautiful places. It's a very cheap, shabby renovation of an old motel, and it is not well maintained or clean. The heat didn't work, the fridge was full of frost, and the bathroom was disgusting. The resort fee is a complete scam - none of the usual equipment or amenities are available, except for a hammock and Yeti cooler, both of which were too gross to touch. The only staff person present was young and really didn't know how to do anything. LOGE tries to draw you in with the "outdoor stoke" vibe but it's all a branding act. Being outdoorsy doesn't mean trashy.

Road trip with my daughter & our dogs from Portland to Wnter's, CA. We broke up long trip by staying in Mt. Shasta- a little pricey but amazing location at the base of Mountain. Fenced in doggy area, large gas firepit area, campsites, and a great cafe. Rooms were large and set up for outdoor activities, including electric shoe/boot warmer & hammock that stretched across room for extra resting space. We had a peek a boo view of Mt shasta from room. The room was comfortable & clean.

I really want to like this place. It's a fixed up old motel, made nice for outdoor adventure sorts. But there are a few problems. Checking in took almost 20 minutes. First we had to wait a long time for the people ahead of us. Then the person working couldn't manage to check us in. She called the manager and apologized profusely to *him* for taking his time, but not so much to us for ours. She said they were migrating to a new reservations system. I got the sense that wasn't the whole story. The there's the wifi, which is ridiculously slow everywhere except right next to the office. FaceTime and Zoom don't really work in any of the rooms. In 2023, it is not hard or expensive to put decent wifi everywhere. In the morning, we had some logistical questions, but the office has a "back at 8" sign. By 8:30, there was still no one there, so we left. At least 3 other guests were also lined up outside the office, confused as to why someone wasn't there. I mean 8 is way too late for a hotel office to open. Even cheap motels have someone there in the early morning. It seems part of a pattern of just not really caring about guest experience. This place Is still fairly new, so hopefully they iron all this out. For now, however, it's suboptimal.

Holy Swordfish, this place rocks the creativity! A hammock over the bed for my granddaughter will be talked about long into the future. The room has every amenity, top shelf body products, racks for snow gear and an instant hot water pot. The coffee station is a nice touch before going out to play in the snow. Good job to all who designed and to those who maintain it!! Will spread the word!!

Nice and cozy. I like staying here but the bunk bed in the dorm room are claustrophobically small. It's uncomfortable to sleep in these beds ans especially bad when someone sleeps above and under. Not recommended but the place is cozy in general.

  • 1/5 kate c. 1 year ago on Google
This place is totally inadequate: No host, No coffee service; only mugs in room were metal and could not be put in microwave! No closet; no closet rod; no hangers. No nothing other than a cute note saying that if you use the S'mores kit, "we will bill you." Tiny cramped "desk," with too little light for using even a tiny laptop. Unlighted exterior stairway, with a hidden first step. Be careful out there!

It was great last year when I stayed and it was great this year too!! I absolutely LOVE this place! The rooms are so cozy, very clean, comfortable, and safe! I love that it's a coded entrance to the rooms, instead of a key. I feel that it is better that way. No need to wait at the front desk for check in or check out. Lots of great amenities and items to choose from in the rooms. There's a little coffee shop at the main desk area. Fire pit to warm yourself or to roast marshmallows. Friendly and safe area. Highly, highly recommended if you're staying in the Shasta area.

Wow! Blinking great place with a fun common area and kitchen. Had Netflix on the TV. Really enjoyed the free bike hire which made getting around this little slice of heaven easy.

Really cool lodge-style hotel. I love that the office doubles as a full coffee bar. The hammocks in the rooms are fun and the beds are comfortable. Great stay!

Tired old building with a fresh coat of paint inside. Like the email with room number, key code and instructions to get in. No old fashion going into the lobby here. Best part of the stay. Traeger grill was a nice touch to cook dinner.

I just stayed overnight on the way from Oregon to California. It was okay, but the bathroom was rather uncomfortable and old. Used towel was hanging on the bathroom door. Overall it’s pretty much like any other motel but with extra “adventure” vibe.
