It offers two trails - Ski Bowl and Horse camp. Ski Bowl is higher in elevation and a longer hike. Beautiful, scenic views but it was hard to follow the trail because it was covered in snow still. If you’re feeling adventurous, I’d recommend ski bowl but if not - Horse camp is your best option.

Excellent place to visit with a beautiful view of the Mount Shasta. This is as far as on could go before July, when the road further up is opened. Road leading up here is closed as well during peak winter. Always check with visitor center before planning on a visit.

I went out to Mount Shasta to visit this beautiful mountain that I read all of the mystical, magical things about. I thought I would hit old ski bowl trailhead and hike as far as I could. I am by no means a professional hiker And when I arrived and drove up, There was heavy, deep snow that stopped only at bunny Flat trailhead so I wasn't able to make it to Old Ski Bowl so I hiked bunny flat in the snow. It was a tiring rough hike as there was a ton of snow which I hadn't necessarily planned for but I knew was a possibility and on a beautiful sunny day when the sun was blazing off the snow. I only had a pack and hadn't planned to hike a crazy long time, but, this mountain is gorgeous The trees are amazing it's so majestic and the most beautiful place to be even with all the snow that I was hoping wasn't going to be there. I went there in mid to late May and I will definitely go again when there is no snow or not as much which should probably be July or August. I am so drawn to this mountain I can't wait to go again. If you're planning or considering a visit, definitely go. It's just a beautiful place to be and a great way to get some exercise and fresh air and there were plenty of other hikers there and people with dogs and people that would hike up and ski down. Even as there was a hefty amount of snow I was in shorts and a T-shirt and just fine, of course I brought things in my pack just in case but I was quite warm and it was a great hike, I can't wait to do it again.

Great hike from Bunny Flat to Old Ski Bowl. More or less 5.5 miles with 1,000 feet of elevation. Don’t let the calm conditions fool you; it was pretty windy and cold closer you got to Old Ski Bowl. There is a bathroom at the trailhead.

This is the trailhead for the summit hike for Mt Shasta. This is a very strenuous and technical hike. We did it with a guide group from REI. The instructors were really good and they guided us very well. The hike was done over a span of three days. It needs clamp ons and ice axes for climbing. It requires a fitness level to run a half marathon at the very least to do this hike safely.

The place was amazing. We did the horse camp hike. Though it was sunny and good when we started but at the end of the hike it got cold. It was a 4 mile hike and was worth it.

The view from the trail head is good. It's a large parking lot but am sure that it fills up quickly during busy summer months. There a restroom at the beginning of the trail head. The trail head has some summit route maps and same safety precaution instructions too. I see that the road beyond this trailhead parking lot was closed in early May 2022. I didn't notice a water fountain around the entrance.

Late fall, early winter in Mt Shata is one of my favorite mountains to visit. Not everyday is super clear as today. It is amazing. The area around trail head is Great for family and everyone. Normal person with sport shoes with extra careful you will be fine. Bring a warm jacket of course.

The energy was strong when we arrived here to view Mt. Shasta. There were 4 groups of hikers ready to take off on overnight hiking trips. This was the last stop as the Gates were closed to drive up to the meadow. We headed 5 minutes up the trail for a meditation to soak in the energy and didn't take any hikes ourselves. Very worth stopping at.

Many people stop by and take photos, others park their cars & enjoy a wonderful hike, bird watching is great here and it's a nice spot to walk your dog.

Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful! Breathe taken views. Drove through the mountains mid-April, temperatures we're just below freezing at the top.

This time of the year , end of May you can only walk around near the parking lot Plan ahead with snow gear if you plan to hike around We just took the views and left Beautiful views and wasn’t disappointed There is a big parking lot but it was almost full . There are few restrooms near the parking area

Trailhead is nice. Parking is easy, but limited. Restrooms and info available. The trail itself, not do great. We did not enjoy the hike, unfortunately. It was very rocky, which just made it a little harder. We only hiked up to Horse camp, it was really nice. It was about 3.5 miles round-trip.

Weather conditions kept us off the summit. You have to know when to pull the cord and live to climb another day. As we drove out of town the next day the clouds parted and the mountain teased us with a beautiful view of the summit. Next time.

This is the trailhead for the Mt Shasta summit. There are quite a few parking spots. Visitor information and a restroom before the hike. This was the last stop for all vehicles, the highway further up from here was still closed as of June end,2022. This trailhead also gives a very beautiful picturesque spot with Mt Shasta behind us. Also, don’t forget to look back and check out views other than Shasta itself.
