Really cute restaurant ! Found on our way to the hotel and loved the ambiance ! The staff is very friendly, they found us a table even though we didn’t had a reservation. The food is very nice, typical food from Greece and the quantity are really good ! The prices are fair for the service and the quality. Little + : with the bill comes a little dessert and a shooter of raki (kind of local tequila )

Best food I have had since being in Crete! We shared a bunch of starters and one main meal. My family and I were thrilled with the taste and portions we received. Stuffed sardines and beetroot salad are my recommendations Staff were very friendly and quick with service, the price was very reasonable especially considering location. Can't recommend this place enough

I had the grilled calamari and my boyfriend had the octopus in wine sauce. We really loved both dishes. Both had a really nice texture and were really savory. For me, it was the most satisfying meal so far in Crete. I’m looking forward to eating there again. (Octopus looks a little funky in photos, cause it’s really really red because of the sauce and because of the bad lighting but it’s really tasty!). I saw some people didn’t like it, but I think not because it’s bad, but because it wasn’t on their taste, the seasoning, sauce. We loved it. Service was good, efficient and pretty quick. Location is cute, on a little street, we liked it. People are passing by the tables, that was how we found the place, wandering around Chania, randomly walking by Tamam and smelled something nice.

Best restaurant we did in Greece so far. Loved it from the very beginning. Very professional, everything perfect, waited the exact amount of time. Cute terrace in the heart of Chania in a lovely tiny street. Went there because so many people recommended it and we did not regreat. Food was outstanding, such a pleasure to all senses. I gotta say they have the best meatballs I've tested in my life. Also had rabbit, super tasty one. STRONGLY RECOMMEND IT

The dinner there was a really good experience. The food was excellent, i personally enjoyed a lot the lamb kebab, and the variety of starters. As for the service : efficient, and kind personnel. Definitely try this restaurant if you stay in Chania, you might want to book a table couple of days prior as they're usually full during summer.

Tamam’s food and service were top notch. Best Greek/ottoman food I’ve ever had. The rabbit and the variety of starters were to die for and the little recipe book we bought was a little gem! Atmosphere could be better compared to some of the local Greek restaurants nearby but once you try their food that’s easily forgotten. Would 110% go back again if in Chania

Just an incredible restaurant we found by accident on our trip to Chania. The food was delicious, especially the vegetarian options made us super happy. The staff is well organized and always polite and friendly. We came back on our last night in Kreta and certainly we will return. Keep in mind to make a reservation and if your can sit outside. It's busy but has a special atmosphere.

Focus placed on mainly meat positions but few good salads too. Very big portions, totally sufficient to take 2-3 plates for 3-4 people. Interesting interior of the restaurant, heaters outside.

Wow! This place is amazing, authentic and serves delicious food. We went into the old building, which is a steep step down but airconed - bonus in 35 degree heat - and were delivered fresh bread they make on site. We then ordered starters on the menu is says sharing - they mean sharing portions are generous we had to take some home with us and the mains were sensational. Honestly the best food I've possibly ever had and plenty of vegetarian options. However this place does get busy quick so book in advance.

The Iranian pilaf rice here is a must try. It's an ode to Turkish - Persian cultural history of Chania. Complemented with the ever so soft goat stew and I was in heaven. The bass was also perfectly cooked. There is a reaon why there is a queue every night: Quite possibly the best Taverna in Chania. Prompt and attentive service rounded off the experience nicely.

Off path from the water and located a hole in wall restaurant walking by . Happens to see some delicious dishes people eating so we decided to sit down by the corner table looking out to the sea. They gave us the breads and olive dips which was delicious . We ordered the salad and the lamb with pita both was amazingly good and flavorful . Usually I’m not a lamb person due to the strong smell of the meat. But I was able to tolerate this cause of the flavorful marinated that kind of help eliminate the strong smell. The squids was so good also. Everything was satisfying and excellent.

Super delicious!! The food was incredible - had the rabbit and lamb. Would recommend both but the rabbit is a must!! Can’t describe how good it was. And the profiteroles were awesome & good for sharing. Fantastic restaurant in Chania old town with indoor & outdoor seating. Service is super friendly too. Would 100% recommend. Pricing was very reasonable too.

Tamam turned out to be one of our absolute favourites and we ended up going back a few times. It's centrally located, in one of the narrow alleys of the old town. They have indoor seating on both sides and a couple of outdoor tables in the alley. They start the meal by serving bread and a wonderful olive spread (FYI they charge ~€2.5 for it) and usually end the meal with a little dessert digestif on the house. Service was great during most of our visits (except once when we came very late at night and there were fewer staff). 👌 Our highlights were: Beetroot salad Stuffed Aubergines Iranian Rice The cheesecake with fresh strawberry sauce is really good as well.

Location of the restaurant was great as it was near the old town and the port. The Greek salad was amazing with the mizithra cheese. The lamb chops were a bit burnt underneath and served with fries. I would recommend the tender goat fillet. Out of the 4 dishes we have tried, that dish stood out the most. The Octopus served with wine was okay. They gave us each a baklava for dessert at the end of our meal.

Very close to harbour. The dishes are cooked well and tasty. Prices are reasonable. The food is usual Greek dishes with some variety. The only problem I felt is that the seating the seating place is in a small alley and people are passing very close to where you eat. Overall a good experience.

The food is amazing!!! We had the rabbit and goat which I recommend vividly. Fair prices. The staff is also very nice, fast and organized. Plus, the location is very cute in a very narrow stress, full of life, just behind the harbour. This is a very busy restaurant so go early if you don't have a reservation.

We used to go to Tamam when we were students there. They offer special dishes for the standards of the city. The food was tasty and the service really good and fast. Although the restaurant was full and there were reservations,we sat quite fast and we served fast. Mr. Vasilis was super friendly! Totally recommend it!

Tamam was our first meal in Chania and the menu options were so diverse from what we were used to having. Would definitely recommend the Iranian rice! Our waiter was so kind and made us feel welcomed. A great option as it’s very close to the water.

I saw the reviews on Google and gave it a try. It is usually very busy so you need to book in advance to get a table outside. The restaurant is located in a small passage so it could be that many people pass by the outside tables. If you want it to be more calm, to eat inside is also a good option, because they have an aircon. The food is outstanding. We had kebab, boureki, moussaka, fried goat cheese, and the signature salad called "tamam". You get a fresh olive paste at the beginning which is also really nice with tzatziki and bread. The ingredients are local and really fresh. Especially the boureki and the moussaka tasted like "grandmom's recipe". At the end they serve baklava and raki - really delicious! The service is perfect. Fast, friendly and professional. If you want to drink beer, they recommended me the two you see on the pictures. Really nice local beer. Recommended!

Portions are quite big, almond cheese, stuffed eggplant was very good as a starter. We preferred shrimp pasta and lamb ribs as main course. meat was very good pasta was more standard. I definitely recommend you to try honey and almond cheese among them.

A nice meal but we were expecting a little bit more given the reviews on Google. The starters were excellent: meatballs and tzakiki, the main courses: souvlaki, moussaka, gyros were good. Our waiter was not overly friendly. However service was quick.

Very greedy owner who is asking customers if we will add tips on credit card charges. This is my third time to visit this restaurant, but this time I feel that this restaurant has become a tourist trap. Very expensive wine, 6 euros per glass, and the service has become slow and unfriendly. Never again!

We came here with great expectations however I was a bit disappointed. The food was ok. The starters we had (dolmaki) were good, and the main courses (lambchops & kebab) were just ok. I was really excited about the Octopus but it wasn't special at all. The service was just slow. On the plus side, I really liked the location of the restaurant. It was really nice to sit on a narrow Creten street and enjoy the food.

We can't wait for the next time in Chania, we will surely come to Tamam for a new meal with their Cretan cuisine. Last two times we were sitting outside in the shadow and it was pretty nice to eat next to the crowd walking up and down the street.

We have been here twice in 24 hours and thoroughly enjoyed all on offer here on both occasions. Menu seemed original, authentic Cretan, and waiter was very helpful explaining. Highly recommend!

Everything we ordered was so delicious, portions are big so mind that when you order :) Also make sure you have a reservation otherwise you might need to wait for some time. We had filos roll, zuccini fritters, stuffed leaves and Hunkar Begendi.

Tasty food , friendly stuff. The best beef I ever tried , melts in my mouth. After every meal as a gift comes ouzo and little dessert.

Don’t do it…. This place is a con. Far nicer places to eat. As many other reviews have said how is this place so popular??? As you can see in the pic our mains were presented like something you’d get at a greasy spoon. The food wasn’t very well cooked my pie was Luke warm inside and was not enjoyable, pastry filled with mashed up mush. My partners over cooked grilled chicken was accompanied with frozen chips yes frozen chips and a slop of sauce. As for the service, pretty poor with long wait times, disinterested staff who just seemed to wander about pretending to look busy. The place itself was like a canteen in side with tables set out so you felt like you were sat with the table next to you. No intimacy whatsoever ever. Would not recommend at all.

Really nice authentic taverna offering classic local dishes. Great service, great flavours and big portions. The mixed starter plate is highly recommended to try the typical local flavours.

A good place to taste good Greek and Mediterranean food. We tried all the appetizers which was delicious and the portions are big. It worths trying the appetizers accompanied by a glass of wine. The restaurant has a good variety of wines and beers. It also offers vegetarian dishes, some fish dishes and many dishes with meat. It’s better if you book in advance whether through google, call or just pass by some days earlier if you are more than 4. The best place to eat tasty greek food, varied wine list and a good service. Ideal place for French fries lovers.

Lovely Taverna in Chania! I went there for lunch and everything was really good. Probably the best greek salad I had in Crete! 🤩 The portions are also very generous, they’ve also served us a delicious local dessert on the house 😎I recommend!

We were intrigued for dinner and went without a reservation. The employees were very interested and after waiting for a while they took us to a table inside. The atmosphere and calm music was very nice. The waiter who took orders and served was very professional and polite in his job. We ordered kebab and a side. Our wine choice was the restaurant's house wine. Our meals were very good in terms of both taste and portion. We also liked the wine. A restaurant we will want to go to again when we visit Chania again, I highly recommend it.

Popular and busy place - worth it to get in because of the setting, an old Venetian then Turkish bath. Sat inside and had a great waiter, fab food. Lamb thighs and aubergine dip we’re hits. And good music and vibe.

Very nice and attentive service, food was great and the prices are good too. Nice seating outside on a small street and seating inside. Very child friendly, child seats and baby changing station.

I wanted to like this place based on all the great reviews, but it was really disappointing. The food was just average by Crete/Greece standards, maybe below average. The goat was dry and octopus felt under cooked (or maybe it was just cooked from frozen as others have mentioned), neither had good flavors. We also didn't feel very welcome there as the waiter just took the order and didn't say anything else. We also had to flag down for our bill a couple times.

Absolutely fantastic food and service. By far the best food we had in Crete. All three courses were beautifully cooked, moist and very tasty. You MUST have the meatball starter and the strawberry cheesecake dessert. Both dishes were absolutely phenomenal. Wish we had eaten here every night! Would recommend booking in advance.

Wow, what a pleasant meal we had here! In fact, I'm very sorry that Bruce Willis had a peek onto the menu but decided not to eat there, because he just missed a great opportunity! Anyway... The portions are of a good size and everything tastes AMAZING! Goat filet was cooked to perfection. Boneless lamb with yogurt and pita bread: fantastic. Big empanada that I will never remember the name: outstanding! Rabbit: superb in every sense! Great place indeed, in the pulsing heart of the old town of Chania.
