Before packing out from Chania visit this lovely market to take away some of the cities flavours and memories with you. Almost all shops are selling same stuff but it good to look around. You can buy olives, olive oil, spices, cheeses and some mountain teas from here. Options are available for Souvenirs as you can see many beautifully crafted wooden items and some well painted pottery. Keep an eye on your weight limit before going crazy.

The old building is closed for renovation however there are plenty of stalls in the main square to buy souvenirs and locally made products.

Fantastic market. My wife loves to come and eat here. Also you will notice this place is shaped as a cross.

Love the area and the streets around. Guy’s are at last working on the Old Chania Market. Which probably means that it will be to expensive for the old shop keeper’s if they move back in. Have been here many times over the years had meals, bought groceries, and goods from here hope it raise’s from the ashes so to speak.

Currently under construction and not open to the public, still an impressive landmark and we will come back to see it in its old glory!

The market building is interesting but a little unmaintained. In the market you will find a bazaar with souvenirs, clothing, fruits and pastries. It is not a market in the true sense of the word - it is a complex with shops for tourists.

Interesting, but not too much to see, since I was there in January and it seemed the market had low-season too. What I liked were the traditional cheese and olive stalls and some eataries.

Lovely indoor market selling local products, lots of friendly people. Unfortunately a lot of the stands are the same, so not a lot of choice or originality, also feels like you can find all of this around the town so not unique to the market. You can go to 4+ different stands for the same thing and find the best price if you find something you like. Would of loved to see more variety!

I think it's an interesting old market, unfortunately I visited it during the lockdown and out of high season. So I think in high season it is full of merchants and original goods from Crete. Most vendors speak English and always have some basic words from many other languages. If you want herbs, mountain tea, traditional cheeses, fish and meat. Souvenirs. You can buy all this here.

Well priced leather and other goods. Recommended as the quality is great, local products and reasonably priced. Good eateries and harbour views not far.

For all your favorite gifts and fashion accessories or just a quick bite to eat, can't go past Old Town of Chania.

Nice place to walk around, very busy in the evening. I would recommend to eat in the Nea Hora Marina area rather in the old centre.

Too much geared towards mass tourism. Did not feel "greek" or "cretan" to me. Market could have been anywhere. Friendliness towards tourists feels fake, not as genuine as in Rethymno or the south.

Wonderful place to spend the afternoon or the day, great coffee houses and taverns, the local shops are great to get a souvenir from, that said they are not cheap comparing to other locations around Crete. Touristic area but definitely worth a visit.

Everyone was awaiting for the new year, 2020. Cobble stone roads to walk with shops and places to eat indoors or outdoors. The retail stores closed early. I was surprised I only saw one souvenir shop. You don’t and old strolling having a good time. A lot of excitement at midnight with the new year. Absolutely beautiful.

Nice place with lots of things to look at. Everybody needs to walk down to the end og the marina and walk along the pebbles and rocks. When you are on top and on the end of the dock there is a beautiful light house to look at. Absolutely amazing.

If you are ever in Crete, do visit this market. I stayed in a lovely boutique hotel here and loved every bit of it. Pretty, narrow streets, friendly people, and amazing food - you can spend many days here without getting bored.

Well worth visiting for food, drink, gifts and souvenirs. All the smells and sights of traditional Greek shopping, with that wonderful Cretan flavour. Quiet in the later afternoon.

Old market with traditional Cretan products. Had lunch there in one eatery. Has changed a bit with touristy shops. A must to visit.

We did an audio walking tour of Old Chania which took us to the old Chania Market. Fascinating place with so much to see, hear and smell.
