USA Traveler: My friend and I went here and we bought the excavation tour. There's a history of the coins tour too. One tour for 5$ or both for 8$. The girl was very nice and funny. She spoke English very well and gave us the tour. You'd need to have a tour guide because there's no information in the rooms, just displays. Spent maybe just over an hour there. Small shopping area. Bathrooms if needed. Very interesting and good information on the tour! Oh and there were bats on the ceiling just outside of where you entered!!!

The museums were both really nice. We had a very detailed and great tour from the woman at the reception. She was really interested in the topics of the museums and took a lot of time, answering all our questions and showing everything with great and catching excitement. Thanks a lot again for the great, authentic tour and the self-made drink :) It’s great if someone is so well informed and interested of a topic.

The museum is a bit further in from the main road and so, is a bit tough to get to, as it is dirt road. When we asked about the tour, we were given info about w museums and prices etc. Only after paying for the museum were we informed that there was no power, so there was no proper light to see the exhibit, which is what we had paid to see. That wasnt too nice.

The museum is great. Entrance is 200 Cordovas, and you get a private tour of the whole museum. The guide was very knowledgeable, and interesting. The whole tour was about 40 minutes. I recommend to visit

NOTE: this review is for the museum, NOT the hotel. The journey to this location took a little bit through a rough dirt road, but not too long. The worker was very friendly and attended to us immediately. He gave us all the info we needed. There were 2 museums: one for coin and one for pottery. We chose the pottery museum, since foreigners need to pay extra to see both. The worker was very thorough. If anyone had a question, he would answer. He was friendly the whole time. I felt like I learned a lot about the island's history and crafts. Towards the end, we asked about the souvenirs and he answered our questions. They give a free shot of their alcohol they brew to those who see the museum. The shot was good and they give salty oranges to help wash it down. Great museum. Come check it out. You'll learn a lot.

A great result thanks to the leadership of the highly motivated leader. He talked so enthusiastically about the ceramics that I was glad I went there. It's worth it.

Museum : Really nice personal tour. Unfortunately only on Spanish, but still really interesting.

Great museum. At first I thought the price of 8 USD for both museums is a bit high but I am very happy I went and learned a lot. The owner is fluent in English and Spanish and explained everything very detailed and with a great sense of humor. I think it’s a must if you want to understand the history of Ometepe and Nicaragua.

This is just a review for the Museum! The exhibit is simple but fascinating and deeply connected to the history of the region. It was well worth the visit and I really enjoyed supporting the endeavour!

Amazing, I’m glad this was a stop on our Ometepe adventure. We visited the archeological museum and it was great. Many rooms with lots of artifacts including burial sites, real human skulls and teeth, weapons, etc. We were helped by the kindest guide that explained the historical importance of different artifacts and answered our questions. At the end of the tour they offered us an indigenous liquor tasting! They also have a Nicaraguan historical tour if you are interested. To find the place just turn into the road with the “El Ciebo” sign and drive all the way in until the road ends and you are greeted by the reception desk.

Only about the museum: - a nice museum with great archeology. - Not enough information, specifically in English. Not very professional, and the language barrier is making the visit hard and complex.

I did the muesem here. They have 2 muesems. One is precolumbian and the other is about their currency. Def worth the price and a great place to kill an hour or two. The guide spoke good english.

The museum of pre-colombian artifacts is small but significant. The fact that you get a private tour makes the entrance fee worth paying. The tour guide knows his stuff!

Gem of Nicaragua. The personal commitment to preserving history and national artifacts is beyond measure. Clean rooms with ac, a pool for afternoon dips, and delicious breakfast. Don Moises' stories and charisma are a national treasures in themselves.

Hotel Museos El Ceibo is a great little hotel right on the water. It is very basic has internet which surprised us. The rooms are very basic, big and clean. Kind of Cool having a horse in the front yard eating the grass. You can walk along the shore, the food is great and the staff are very helpful. You have to take a taxi from the landing to get to the hotel. Worth the trip if you want a relaxing place.
