Literally magic happens here early mornings, trust me on this. I highly recommend this place early mornings when the sun and the clouds dances in perfect symphony in The Valley. It creates a serene peaceful ambience that can’t be explained in words. In my opinion one of the best locations in Bavaria! You can go up the small hills to get the full view of the lake from a above, early mornings landscape photographers come together in groups in this place.

This is Geroldsee, a mini Alpe di suisi version of Germany. It has one of the most iconic landscape and an idyllic gem of a lake in Bavaria. Located in a valley with alpine cabins scattered all over the hill leading to the lake, you get a very unspoiled scenery. Also there are tons of other beautiful places nearby to visit which makes a perfect day for indulging in the nature.

Fantastic views. It's easy to miss the turnoff as it's only a small road. There's no car park but you can park on the verge nearby. Lots of different viewpoints for photos, and the lake is very popular for swimming if you fancy a dip. If you can, try to get here for sunrise or sunset as the light is fantastic on a clear day.

Plenty of parking. Excellent place for picnic and taking scenic pics of the mountains. Worth the trip if you are in the area.

This place is absolutely magical! However, if you want to see the magic you need to be there very early. Those pictures that you can see we’re taken around 5:30-6am (in July). But it is worth it, the place is calm, you can even go swimming in the lake, or go for a small stroll around the lake.

Never seen such a scenic beautiful lake side, especially with wide green land.

What a beautiful place. This is truly heaven in Bavaria. One idyllic lake which you shouldn't miss visiting in the Garmisch region. Use ‚Hotel Simon Pension' for driving directions. There is paid parking in front of the hotel. The automat accepts only coins so make sure to have them. From the parking, the lake is a 10 minutes walk.

Just spectacular, only little overpriced parking

Very calm and relaxing place for picnic or just to enjoy nature. Sunsets are amazing here.

I found this place to be normal, nothing spectacular about.Well it's for sure secluded and less crowded.I didn't do a lot of trek, might be that it's beautiful from the top of the hill. Please make sure to carry your own food and also take away the leftovers. You can park at the pension Simon and then walk.Parking costs about 5-10€.
