It’s a massive beer garden admits greenery and that’s lovely. The beer is great too. Comes in two options and you can go for 500 ml or a liter. There is a separate area for buying food and drinks and the payment system is pretty fast. They give you coupons for beer mutes so you can get €2 back each time you return a mug. Food options are limited - fries, pretzel, salads and meats.

Open air restaurant in Munich 🇩🇪 Basically you go choose your dish and then there are many places outside where you can sit. The food was good, German specialities mostly. A bit of wait to find a place under the tower (because it was raining) and some of our dishes came cold which was a shame but overall it’s nice. Keep in mind that it is a bit far from the center, you’ll easily get there by bus!

Big, noisy, lots of people and traditional brass Bavarian music live when it is holiday, but this is exactly what you look for going to the biergarten, ja? ;-) Food is simple but solid, and if you are looking for a salad there are two options only really: potato one or mortadella one. Shortly: this is no place for hungry vegan. But again: this is Bavarian biergarten, so... However if you are looking for a solid mug (1L) of HB beer and baked pig knuckle to accompany it: this is the place. The knuckle only if you have teeth for it, as it is tasty but the crunchy skin requires some work on it. Fortunately you can go for the chicken instead. Despite self service, aforementioned lots of people and noise it was surprisingly relaxing for me to eat and drink there, even being on my own.

Nice super big beergarden. Prices are extremely high in my eyes. Half chicken without anything for 13Euro. Also some food stalls closed early and the line was very long. Besides nice atmosphere with music from the Chinese tower. If you are with many friends, come here but be aware of the prices!!!

Great place especially in the summer. Service is good, everything went smoothly. Less crowded than other biergatens in the centre. Highly recommend!

There is a little parking lot you can park for 5 euros just outside. Park is beautiful, and I think the only "Chinese" thing about this beergarden is the big Chinese-like architecture, which is kind of out of place in this otherwise "English Garden" lol. Food court food looked and smelled heavenly, but taste wasn't up to parr. Definitely had better fare throughout Munich. If visiting again, I would bring food from elsewhere, and get beer here to enjoy outdoors. A walk around the park is very much recommended. Especially in late May/early June!

Great place overlooking all the natural gems of English Garden, Brezel are more expensive than in other Gartens but they are more tasteful. Generally everything is nicely organised and staff is fast, masks are a must and you have to complete online covid form before entering. Food is self served.

Must visit in Munich to have some local food and beers. Outdoor terrace is huge and have live music on the Tower. Ambience is great!

Although the beer garden was closed, as it was a dry sunny day with lots of people about, the hut was open. We had a delicious sausage in a roll and chips. We also had a beer.

A wonderful place. Always at full capacity the food is great. If you are a fan of good and traditional Bavarian food, this is an ideal place for you and your family. Many people avoid this place due to the large number of visitors, but if you are visiting Munich, it is advisable to visit it. It is ideal for families with small children because there are recreational toys and fun nearby. I am not a fan of Bavarian music, but in such an environment it is necessary. You feel like you are part of the events during Oktoberfest.

Well progress? It's gone self-service cafeteria style since we last visited 34 years ago. LOL. Wide variety of decent Bavarian food. HB is the brewery provider. The place for lunch on a sunny day in Munich. Bus or tram will get you within easy walking distance.

Very cool! My first experience in Munich in a big beer garden. So many seats and benches including empty ones on a Saturday afternoon in summer. Food is purchased inside the turnstile area from the different sections and paid for before exiting. The food isn't cheap but as a tourist, the experience is part of it. Great live band and atmosphere. 🥨🍻🥔🥗🌭 Making it all the more memorable was a short, sharp, crazy summer rain shower that sent people diving for shelter! ☔

Reasonable prices for a typically tourist spot in the park. Lots of kiosks, huge amounts of seating and tables, and a nice atmosphere at lunch.

The Käsespätzle in here was amazing. The place also offers lots of pop-up shops such as souvenirs/ornaments, food and drinks like bratwurst, currywurst, weiss and rot glühwein. It’s a beautiful area to hang out in, especially on a sunny day!

We visited the Christmas market and even on a sunny Saturday during Christmas time there was a lot of space and it was not that crowded. They offer a lot of different cuisines and especially some vegan options. I loved it.

Amazing beer garden especially in the summer! All drinks in glass, you'll need to pay a €2 deposit, which you'll get back in cash (always even if you pay by card). Food isn't cheap but not expensive. Would recommend the pizza (next to the salad bar).

  • 4/5 Gerd S. 9 months ago on Google

Great place. The band were playing when we visited and there was such a brilliant atmosphere. Easy to get plenty of food and drink, even when busy and there's a lot to choose from. The staff were really helpful and friendly too. Would definitely recommend to anyone visiting!

Top beergarden one of the bigger ones in Munich but still nice. I like the atmosphere it's food for a few beers after work, and the food is ok.

  • 5/5 Nickie S. 11 months ago on Google
What a German experience! I really like the food and the huge Maß, it was literally bigger than my head... so fun 😁 There was music from the tower too and the walk there was wonderful. Prost! 🍻

The Chinese Tower is a 25-metre wooden building resembling a pagoda. The building was constructed from 1789 to 1790 and was opened to the public as an observation deck during the opening of the Englischer Garten in 1792. The tower burned down during the bombing of Munich during World War II and was reopened as a reconstruction in 1952. a Beergarden is located underneath with a restaurant and children playground. a very good place to enjoy a pause from the parkwalk or to have lunch. for security reasons it is not accessible for tourists.Kocherlball festival has been held at the Chinese Tower on the third Sunday of July since 1989.

On of the most famous bier garten of Munich on the heart of englisher garten. The place is nice with a cozy feeling as all big bier garten a mix between tradition and "german praticity" = having a tray and walk in a canteen to get your food. Although I'm always shocked of this paradoxe, the place is nice to get a beer and some "bavarian feeling", I don't think this is the best bier garten of Munich but definitely worth a shot: See the surfers, walk through the park, get a beer and a brezel and just enjoy.

  • 5/5 Joe J. 10 months ago on Google
Something to check of the to do list. Beautiful spot in the English garden but with a buffet like service for beer and food. Both of which were good.

  • 3/5 Biao L. 6 months ago on Google
Rating is based on food/price only. Its quite high in terms of Munich standard and not really amazing. Probably only worth coming if the weather is nice in the summer time otherwise worth skipping for other beer gardens

  • 4/5 HUI YING L. 7 months ago on Google
You can bring your own food. Atmosphere is great. Rmb to keep your glass and return it to get a 2 euro refund. Food overall is expensive. Roast chicken is on the salty side

  • 5/5 Michael H. 10 months ago on Google
Excellent place for some great beers and food on a sunny day. All self service. Traditional Bavarian music. Trees provide some protection from the heat of the sun. All in the middle of the wonderful Englischer Garten.

  • 5/5 Raimundas V. 9 months ago on Google
The most interesting place for me in Munchen (of course I was not here during the Octoberfest). Open air, nice Chinese building, live music, nice local food, lots of people

  • 2/5 Patrick W. 9 months ago on Google
Also einmal hingehen und was trinken reicht.

Nice atmosphere with huge open space. Though the product price is higher than other beer garden in Munich but it’s worthy to enjoy in a nice environment like English garden.

A Munich landmark at which to meet. Popular beer garden in the summer. Accessible WC through most of the year. And in December 2021 people were sipping Glühwein and happily pretending like Christmas still exists ;)

A beautiful Biergarten in the heart of the English Garden. You can enjoy traditional Bavarian food and of course try the excellent beer while sorrounded by nature and a wonderful atmosphere.

Beautiful tower, sometimes have musicians playing there. But note you cannot go into it as it has been closed off to visitors for a long time.

Exactly what we were looking for in a trip to Munich. Walked through the gorgeous park, bought some bratwurst with sauerkraut, spiralized radish, and giant beers, and sat at a picnic table in front of the tower where a brass band played music.

  • 4/5 Bruce B. 2 years ago on Google
It’s a must in Munich! The staff is friendly, the food is ok when you consider how huge the place is, and that things are ready-made ( if you are hungry there’s no wait time though! ) A bit pricey but I think it’s worth it for the ambiance, prices are typical of touristic places.

  • 5/5 Yan C. 2 years ago on Google
The indoor sitting is closed but outdoor area is open. Worth a visit to Munich's oldest beer garden even in winter if the sun is out.

This is a must visit, Is your stroll through the park, Just one of the largest in Europe. Check out the surfers on the Eisbachwelle. Yes, and jump in the river, the fast-moving current will pull you quickly down the stream to the Eisbachwelle #2, when the surfers practice, to move up with the big boys and girls upstream. The food is nice, and the beer seems to be the going price for the city.

The 200+ years old ‘Chinese tower’ with its height of 25 meters, was a favorite highlight on my English Garden visit 😊👍 simply because its appearance ✨

Great place to visit, chill out and have some Bavarian food in a fun, inviting setting. The HB helles, potato salad and pork knuckle were all delicious. I would recommend recommend getting a small pretzel or sharing the ginormous one with a friend.

Recomendo a visita .

Summer is great. Bike tours end here, families can bring kids, music... In winter there's a small as market as well. If you didn't visit when you were a tourist, you probably missed out. Walk around the lake and back to work up a thirst.
