I visited the place on 05/11/2021. The place is good and well maintained. It is clean as well. They only charged Rs.50 per person and gave a nice introduction as well about the turtles. They do not allow to harm the animals therefore have restricted touching which is good according to my idea. The washrooms were available but not very clean. The place also have a area to sit and observe the sea. Enjoyed the visit a lot and highly recommend the place.

We expected to sea turtles in their natural habitat but saw them as prisoners in small pool. Ticket cost 1000 LKR for adult ( last year they charge twice less) . It’s looks like more some local business for a tourists rather than project to safe turtles. They keep couple of turtles in very small pool inside . Not recommend for a tourists to go there better travel to Mirisa or Hikaduwa and see turtles in their natural habitat- sea. You even can swim next to them there.

Good place to visit with your children. The life-cycle of the sea turtles can be witnessed. Different kinds of sea turtles are available in different tanks. There is an information center which helps the school children to improve knowledge on sea turtles. Parking is available side of the Galle road. The whole area can be covered in 30 minutes.

Everything is okay until the owner said they charge LKR 3000 to release the turtles to the sea. We politely declined the offer and walked to the beach to watch the sunset and noticed another foreign couple (2 females) who had paid for the service and going to release the turtles, when we were walking towards the scene which was in the beach the owner yelled ‘not to go closer to them’🤷🏻‍♀️ He is totally money minded and very rude to limit our presence at a public beach. He kept yelling at us (I was there with my husband and 2 kids) He already has a couple volunteering at the conservation (husband and wife) and said that they might complain to him if we watch them release those turtles.

Nice place to visit. Located near to the Galle main road beside the Kosgoda beach🏖. As locals, we need just 100 LKR to pay to visit this nice place. There are baby sea turtles and large turtles as well. They are kept in different tanks. We are able to see sea turtle eggs as well and some dead small turtles in bottles. There were some foreign volunteers and they explained about different varities of sea turtles, their life span, their food and how sea turtles are nurtured here at the Sea Turtle Conservation Project Kosgoda. Local people were also available to explain about the sea turtles. It is nice to visit at evening about 5.00 pm. That is why you are able to get a chance to release tiny baby sea turtles to the sea while looking at the redden sun setting🌅 at the Kosgoda beach. It is an awesome experience to have, if you visit Sri Lanka🇱🇰...

In short a wonderful experience. They patiently answered all our questions and explained the steps they take to preserve the eggs and turtles. This was followed by a truly heart warming experience of releasing baby turtles into the sea. We were each given about 15 turtles to release. The project conserves all possible species of turtles but majorly the Green and Olive Ridley turtles were present during our visit. We were blessed to see the hatching of eggs and release the young ones into the sea by hand. Definitely recommend.

A wonderful experience I must say. The people here very friendly and patiently answered all our questions and explained the steps they take to preserve the eggs and turtles. I heard they allow people to release turtles into the sea but we were not given any such chance. This place is all about conservation and protection of turtles. A must visit… and also ask them if you can release the turtles in the sea. That must be more of an experience I guess.🙏🏼😇

Good place to get some knowledge about turtles. They are actively contributing to conserve sea turtles. As I remember Rs. 50 or 100 per local head and Rs. 10 or 20 for a school child.

The owner is very passionate and has been running it for over 34 years. We got to release over 200 baby turtles at sun set. Costs 1000 rupees to visit and 2000 rupees to release turtles - all the money goes to saving more sea turtles eggs so its for a great cause

It was a great experience to know about sea turtles where we were fortunate to gather information from 2 englishman. They were volunteering for 2 weeks. This place is well maintained by the owners. Entrance ticket is Rs 200 per person. We had the chance to see an albino sea turtle which is very rare. There were different age group sea turtles ranging from 3days, 1 month, 4month and beyond. Don't forget to enter to this location if you are passing by it is a worth experience.

They are doing a fabulous job of conservation of turtles. There are thousands of turtles which come to the Srilankan coast lay eggs and they try to hatch them, before someone misuses them. Our guide Ms. Padma explained to us the entire process of conservation. It's a must visit to understand the process and support them as much as possible. Note there is an entry fee of Rs. 2000/- per person for foreign nationals.

Highly recommended place for kids and everyone. There were few volunteers explaining all you need to know about turtles and how turtles conservation is being done. They had only two species, but a range of turtles from 2 weeks to few years including one Albino turtle. Entrance tickets are priced at LKR 200 for adults and LKR 100 for children.

Nice brief tour summarizing the work they are doing to preserve 5 species of sea turtles. You can see eggs, where they bury them, the tanks of various ages and types of turtles, and several information boards (in Sinhala, English, and German) about turtles and the work done there. You can hold a baby turtle and a much larger one if you like. Part of the mission is to educate people on environmental factors that endanger the turtles, and you can see some injured turtles they keep because they can no longer survive in the wild. There’s a gift shop at the end. It was right next door to the Kosgoda Sheraton. Good for kids probably 5 and older and anyone for a general summary. Our guide was very nice. If you want a lot of detail it’s probably helpful if you speak Sinhala.

A fantastic place to see turtles up close. Entry costs 1000 LKR per person and should be seen as a donation to the voluntary project. In addition, the management of the facility is very good and the employees are also very nice. We were also allowed to take the medium-sized turtles out of the tank-> very cool. In the evening we were offered to let small turtles into the sea at 6 o'clock in the evening, which we definitely did. This costs 2000 LKR per person and you get a donation receipt as a souvenir. Definetely recommended!

Had a great time learning about different types of turtles and the conservation process. The lady in charge of the location was super friendly and helpful. She knew a great deal about the process and seemed very passionate about the turtles. She was also very patient and answered all our questions. You can buy the tickets at the gate and it was not at all crowded.

Very small Sea turtle conservation area, probably famous because one of the first such conservation in Sri Lanka for the endangered sea turtles. They purchase turtle eggs from locals and hatch them in the area. They also have disabled turtles and turtles of different types and save them. The volunteers are mostly the foreign nationals who travel to the country and stay for sometime. The ticket costs around 500LKR for foreigners which is expensive for the place but one can visit the place when in and around bentota as there is not much to see other than beaches.

I had the opportunity to volunteer here for a week and it was the best experience of my life! I can guarantee the few adult turtles at the project are all extremely loved by all members of staff and are kept clean and looked after like Kings We released all baby turtles as soon as they hatched which is amazing The aim of the conservation is to release as many turtles as possible back to nature and to educate tourists and locals about the dangers of these beautiful and endangered animals. I would 100% advice to visit the Conservation and if you have more time I'd recommend you volunteer too! As it changed my life for the better

2000 rupees per person. What a rip off. A little boy, around 10 years old was explaining basics to us. Quite unnerving how at his age, he has been thought to push for more "donations"Additionally, they do not have many turtles. Don't waste your time or money at this place. I recommend Induruwa sea turtle conservation project instead. They have more turtles, and are far more informative. Not pushing for more money. Genuinely caring for the turtles.

The only staff member, the lady at the ticket counter was very disinterested and didn't make any effort to talk about the turtles even when we asked her. I was visiting with two young children who were very excited to see the turtles. When we asked about the turtles, she told us to look at the sign boards instead of making an effort to explain. After we persisted, she gave some unenthusiastic explanation. Quite disappointing and not planning on visiting again.
